The two Junior Disciples made their way to the bamboo grove in complete silence. Song Qingge didn’t dare make fun of Wei Yaozu, but she couldn’t stop herself from shooting him a few disapproving looks as they made their way along the dirt path. By the time the two arrived at their destination, Wei Yaozu wanted to gouge Song Qingge’s eyes out of her head, but he settled for yelling at her instead.
“Stop looking at me like that! If you have something you want to say, just spit it out!”
Since Wei Yaozu had given her the green light to speak, Song Qingge decided not to hold back anymore.
“Wei Shidi…weren’t you the Demon Lord in your past life? What was with all the stuttering earlier? This isn’t the first time you’ve spoken to Shixiong one-on-one!”
Song Qingge recalled the ending of the original novel. At that time, Wei Yaozu had been very forward and outright declared that everything he had done was for Luo Jie and him to be together, so why was he acting shy now? Where was the domineering and possessive villain from the original novel? She felt like she had been scammed.
“You-!” Wei Yaozu didn’t expect Song Qingge would really have the guts to say anything to him! And she even dared to call him Shidi in private!
But even though he was angry, Wei Yaozu knew in his heart that he really had lost face. A wave of embarrassment crashed over him like a tsunami when he thought about what had happened. His Shixiong probably thought he was a fool!
This thought made him so depressed that he was unable to come up with a retort, and instead sat down on a nearby rock to sulk.
This only further lowered his reputation as a villain in Song Qingge’s heart, and she began to feel a little bit bad for him. With a small sigh, she copied what her Master had done last night and put a hand on his shoulder to comfort him.
“I’m sorry, Wei Shidi, I know you tried your best. I’ll come up with a better plan next time, ok? So don’t feel too discouraged!”
Wei Yaozu: Who says I’m your Shidi?! And why are you comforting me like a child?!
But before Wei Yaozu had time to get too angry, he heard the familiar voices of Luo Jie and Feng Wenling in the distance. He quickly slapped Song Qingge’s hand away and sat up properly. He couldn’t let his Shixiong see him sulking like this!
Song Qingge rubbed her aching hand and couldn’t help but feel a bit wronged.
However, this feeling didn’t last very long, because Feng Wenling (and Luo Jie) had finally arrived at the bamboo grove. When Song Qingge laid her eyes on Feng Wenling, her eyes lit up like stars and she jumped up to greet her.
“Shijie! You’re finally here!”
Seeing how happy Song Qingge was to see her, Feng Wenling couldn’t help but smile and give her a gentle pat on the head.
“Did you miss me already, Shimei? We just saw each other last night…” Despite her teasing, Feng Wenling felt a bit of warmth fill her heart.
“I know, Shijie, but I just wanted to thank you for making tea last night! It was so delicious!”
Seeing his two Junior Sisters suddenly acting so close, Luo Jie felt a bit conflicted. On one hand, he was glad that they were finally getting along, but as the Senior Disciple, he also felt a sense of crisis.
In the past, Song Qingge had always looked up to him and often asked him for cultivation advice, but seeing her act so close with Feng Wenling made him feel like his position as the “Senior” was suddenly under threat.
But Luo Jie quickly pushed this thought aside. He had known Feng Wenling for a long time, and was well aware that she had a gentle and virtuous personality. It was only natural that Song Qingge got along with her. Plus, the two were Master’s only female disciples.
It’s normal for two girls to be close, right?
Luo Jie felt satisfied after coming to this conclusion and decided to focus on the task at hand: Cultivation!
“Song Shimei, where’s Wei Shidi? Since he’s still new to the Sect, I thought it would be best if we all practiced some basic swords techniques together.”
Song Qingge jumped at the sound of Luo Jie’s voice, she had been so distracted by Feng Wenling that she completely forgot he was there!
“Ah- Shixiong, Wei Shidi is right over there.” She pointed to the rock a few meters away where Wei Yaozu was sitting. He hadn’t moved a muscle since the two senior disciples had arrived and had gone completely unnoticed by them until Song Qingge pointed him out.
“…Do you want me to bring him over, Shixiong?”
“…I think that would be for the best, Song Shimei”
Song Qingge obediently ran over to fetch Wei Yaozu and tell him their plan for today’s Cultivation exercise. While she tried to break Wei Yaozu out of his stupor, Luo Jie couldn’t help but sigh.
“Feng-Shimei, do you think I seem unapproachable?”
Feng Wenling: ??? Don’t all the other female disciples approach you all the time???
“…Shixiong, what makes you think that?”
Luo Jie sighed deeply once again.
“I think Wei Shidi is afraid of me.”
Feng Wenling looked over at Wei Yaozu, who was slowly being dragged over by Song Qingge, with limited success. By the look on his face, he did appear to be quite nervous.
“Well, Wei Shidi has only recently joined the Sect, it’s normal for him to be a bit wary around new people.”
“But he seems to get along with Song Shimei just fine…”
“It’s probably because they’re around the same age. Don't take it to heart, Shixiong. I’m sure Wei Shidi will feel more comfortable around you in time.”
Despite Feng Wenling’s reassurance, Luo Jie still felt a bit disappointed. He really wanted to have a good brotherly relationship with his Shidi, especially now that his Junior Sisters were getting along so well!
As the Senior Disciple of Zhuzi Peak, it was his job to get along with his Junior Martial Siblings, give them advice, and protect them from danger or from going down the wrong path.
In the future, he would have to work hard to make Wei Yaozu trust him! It was his duty as the Eldest Disciple!
