I felt a breeze brush against the left side of my face.
I opened my eyes and saw Akame’s hand making small, light movements in front of me.
« Um… what’s she doing? » I thought, staring at her, puzzled.
She looked embarrassed, buried her face in her blanket, then mumbled,
“I wanted to see if they were real…”
It was the first time I had seen that expression on her face. It was… cute?
''Wait… can you really see me ALL the time?''
''Of course I can. I’m a powerful mage. It didn’t take me long to see you clearly without using my darkness to fill the whole room,'' she replied immediately, with a slightly smug look.
“Hm… still, you need to stop doing that. Materializing me drains all your energy. It’s dangerous.”
“I was just tired from my umpteenth dungeon. Don’t think I’m that weak.”
Weak, she clearly wasn’t. And I knew that better than anyone. But using her power like that had to be exhausting…
Someone knocked on the door.
“Ma’am? Are you awake?” Miyu called.
“Yes,” Akame replied, getting out of bed.
“I’ll come in,” Miyu said, opening the door slightly, before frowning.
“Ma’am, did you fall asleep in your clothes again? That’s not good at all. You need to change.”
She approached Akame quickly and began helping her undress.
I immediately looked away toward the window.
« A little decency, please… » I thought, my cheeks almost invisibly flushed.
I felt Akame’s gaze on my back.
Did she think I was going to look? I still had a modicum of respect.
I heard her slightly embarrassed voice address Miyu:
“Um… let’s go to the bathroom instead.”
To be honest, I didn’t know which of us was more embarrassed.
I stood frozen in front of the window, determined not to turn around, even though the room was now empty.
