Slowly, the bus moved away from Chittagong city.
Looking out of the window, I saw trees on both sides, only trees.
The trees were lying on top of each other,
as if creating a natural canopy.
It felt like I had entered an imaginary road.
I kept looking outside for a long time,
yet every moment, the surroundings fascinated me.
After an hour, we reached a huge bridge.
The bus started moving a little slowly.
as far as the eye could see on both sides,
there was only river after river,
and in the middle of the river, this bridge stood.
As soon as I slightly opened the window glass,
the cold air hit my nose with force.
The cold river breeze
completely chilled my mind.
For a while, it felt good,
but later, the cold started to bother me.
So, I closed the window.
I sat upright,
and saw a display in front of me.
At first, I thought it was a TV,
it would be good, I could watch TV for a while.
But later I realized,
it was just a normal display.
It only showed distance and time—
how long it would take to reach,
and only three hours remained.
So, I took a short rest.
Suddenly, a strange sound came from the bus,
and it woke me up.
Had I fallen asleep?
I could not tell.
But what was that sound?
Looking ahead,
I realized I was arriving at Cox’s Bazar.
The bus was at the station.
I quickly got off.
The time was 3:40 PM.
But in front of my eyes,
I could see no beach.
Had I really arrived at Cox’s Bazar?
Doubt started to creep in.
The bus had not dropped me
near the beach.
So how would I get to the beach now?
I could not figure out the road ahead.
On both sides, there was only road after road.
Which way was the beach,
and which way led to the wrong road—
it was hard to tell.
No, I could not think too much.
I had come so far,
there was no turning back now.
I would go toward the beach today.
But which direction?
Left?
wait, wait.
Which way had I come?
I had come this way,
meaning along the road on the left.
Then the beach could not be this way,
it must be on the right.
So I would have to go right.
But if the beach was not to the right,
then…
Ah, my head is spinning.
Standing here, trying to figure out this road,
no solution would come.
I started walking.
Surely, some road would appear.
