...
Zaire was in the changing rooms, getting ready for his shift after a relaxing weekend. He had managed to catch up on all his schoolwork and get rest. Destiny also insisted they go on a sibling date the previous day and it was so fun, Zaire almost did not want the day to end. He closed his locker before tightening his apron and turned around, "Oh, goodness!" He exclaimed as he was startled by the person that was quietly standing behind him. "Danny?"
"Hey, Zaire." The omega greeted with a smile, ignoring Zaire's obviously terrified expression. "Let's go."
Zaire furrowed his eyebrows as he looked at Danny dumbfounded. "Go where?"
"Didn't Hera tell you already?" Danny asked and Zaire shook his head. "Mr Black wants you to work upstairs... I'll take you to the section that you will be working with me. You are stuck with me tonight and for the near future!" He said excitedly as he gently dragged Zaire with him.
Zaire was panicking a little. Am I in trouble? Why the sudden change? "Don't omegas work up there?" He asked as he planted his feet stubbornly on the floor, making Danny stop. Have I been discovered?
"Is that why you are so scared. Omegas don't bite and besides, there are betas that work up there. Don't worry, you'll see." Danny said as he pulled Zaire with him once again and he let the slightly shorter omega pull him along. The nerve wracking walk upstairs had Zaire's heart racing, he was more than convinced that he was in trouble. The floor had a bar, similar to the one downstairs but this floor was significantly less busy. A few barstools were there, six reservation sections that were overlooking the lower floor.
"This is the main area, we will mostly be working here unless Hera tells us otherwise. People here tip like crazy, especially with a face like yours." Zaire furrowed his eyebrows at that. He really didn't want that kind of attention. Danny noticed his expression and he quickly fixed his statement. "It's not a bad thing. They know not to touch us, it's just innocent appreciation. Mr Black runs this place like the military and everyone knows not to piss him off, if someone has a worker they fancy, it has to pass through Mr Black and Hera, and they make sure that it's consensual." Danny motioned Zaire further into the upper floor, beyond the bar and Zaire followed obediently. "And if it's more of a sexual affair that a customer prefers, there are people here for that. There's a contract and everything, those private rooms are for those purposes." Danny explained as he pointed down a dimly lit corridor that they were walking past. "You will only ever see alphas with bottomless pockets go in there and I heard from a worker there that most of those alphas are married and cheating scum but at least they pay well, so..." he shrugged. "All the rooms belong to someone. They are loyal members of the club and are pretty close to the boss."
Zaire nodded in understanding, he knew the club catered to a higher class of people but not like that. He was trying to memorise the area as they walked through, the design of every nook and cranny of the club was so put together and fancy. Zaire thought about how much money it probably cost to put the whole place together. It probably cost more than my entire life.
"Down there are the staff bathrooms and storage rooms." Danny pointed down another corridor to their left and then turned to the one on the right. "This whole area is Mr Black's. He has a private room and his office." He explained as he started walking down said area.
"Where are we going?" Zaire whispered as he dragged his feet behind the omega.
Danny gave two brief knocks to a set of black double doors that blended in well with the grey colour of the walls. "Letting the boss know that you are starting today."
Zaire had a bewildered look as he stared at Danny, "Why?" He asked. They could have told Hera instead.
"It's customary." He simply said before they heard a familiar voice call for them to enter. "Come." Danny grabbed Zaire's hand and dragged him inside. Danny was used to people being terrified of their boss, he was naturally intimidating, so Zaire would obviously be reluctant to go anywhere near the man. Danny quickly learned that Leo didn't care for much as long as they were doing their job properly, they had nothing to fear. Mr Black was just not a big talker and was hard to impress and that made it seem like he was constantly irritated but he wasn't.
His office was a mix of dark colours with some very few neutral shades here and there. Dim lights sprawled across the room and a lamp on his table lighting up his paperwork. Zaire looked around curiously as his nose also noticed that amazing fragrance wafting through the room, must have been his cologne. He thought as he saw the view of the city through the floor-to-ceiling window. Everything in the office looked spotless and very expensive. It also seemed very fitting for Leo, he himself looked expensive. The only thing that looked a little out of place was the mirror perched up the wall, opposite Leo's position at his desk. He must need to check his appearance a lot throughout the day, it probably takes a lot of effort to look that good. He thought as he nodded to himself discreetly.
"Danny..." Leo said as his eyes moved from Danny to Zaire. The latter pulled his attention away from the weird mirror to Leo. Their eyes met for a quick moment before Zaire looked away. "Zaire." Leo's tone was neutral and light but the deep sound made a small shiver run down Zaire's spine. The way Leo said his name was definitely something. He didn't know what the something was but it was definitely something.
"Evening, Mr Black. I was just taking Zaire through the floor before we start working." Danny said with a polite smile. Zaire was honestly surprised that Danny was not intimidated by the alpha. He grew up always thinking that omegas were naturally wired to be fearful of alphas, especially ones as dominant as Leo but he was proven wrong. It must have been a him-thing because he was never around alphas a lot, so they scared him a little. His parents always told him to not have a lot of contact with alphas because they would corrupt him and expose his omegan nature. Leo could clearly notice the nervousness pouring out of Zaire. He had never met a beta so terrified of an alpha, Leo had never released his pheromones or gotten angry around Zaire so he was not completely sure what scared the man so much.
Leo's eyes looked between the two with no particular emotion on his face. The low lights caught onto the diamonds in his grills and jewellery. His shirt had the first two buttons open and his stack of necklaces were on display. One with a blue pendant seemed to draw Zaire's attention most before he was pulled out of his stupor by Leo's voice "Okay... Danny is good at his job and with his help, I'm sure you will also do exceptionally. If any problems arise, do let me know." Leo said simply as he leaned back in his big leather chair.
"Yes, sir." Danny said as Zaire nodded and they turned to leave. Once Leo was left alone he looked into his mirror, seeing Akuma with his head rested on his front paws while he was perched on his dog bed.
"Weird." Leo mumbled. "It almost seemed like he could see you." Akuma yawned, not paying any mind to Leo. The alpha knew it was a crazy thought that Zaire could see Akuma but he showed more than just a little curiosity about the mirror. A small vibration pulled him out of his thoughts as the glass of liquor and some items in his office shook a little, signaling that someone was coming and Leo exactly who it was. A small cloud of dark smoke appeared before the force of feet hitting the floor sounded. Hera materialised from the smoke as she landed in a crouch. "I told you to use the doors when coming back, like a normal person." Leo complained as he watched her stand up and took a seat in one of the comfortable chairs. Her teleportation always had a force enough to make the room she was landing in to shake, like some kind of room-specific earthquake.
"I'm not exactly done with my outside work yet. I just came to deliver news then leave. It would be so tiring to drive here and back."
Leo shook his head with a chuckle, "You have a cellphone, Hera."
"Oh... yeah. I didn't think about that." She said as she patted her pockets and realised that she left it in her office. "I don't have it on me either way."
"So, what was so important that you had to tell me?"
"Owen Jacob requests a meeting with you. In fact, he is insisting on it. He is clashing with Park Sunwoo again."
Leo sighed as he stood up and came to sit with Hera. "I told the Jacob family that I don't do unnecessary meetings with humans. He wants something, the basement is always open for them and the Parks to fight it out. That is how things have always worked. Words don't interest me but violence does. He must show me how desperate he is for his family to surpass the Park family."
"You know as well as he does that he would lose that fight. Have you seen Sunwoo? That man is built like a tank." Hera laughed. "He probably wants to beg your ear off to give him more of your favour."
Leo shrugged, "True. But how else does he think he will keep my favour? I gave his family status and riches, and he only reciprocates with putting money in the club but I'm not in need of money, I already have that." Hera nodded as she watched Leo's eyes darken, not threateningly but to their natural powerful glow. "He has to understand that we feed differently, some might be satisfied with money and being given praise but I want blood and the utmost gratitude for my efforts. Sunwoo understands that and that is why he is a formidable alpha and his family is up there with him. Owen can either kill to get even with Sunwoo or go back to striking deals with lower demons." Leo explained and Hera stood up, getting ready to leave.
"So, I will tell him to not bother coming to you." Hera said she moved to a clearer corner in the office in order to not leave a mess, otherwise she would never hear the end of it from Leo. "I will see you later." She sang as her eyes started glowing a bright silver and the office began to quake again. Her body started to dematerialise into black smoke before she completely disappeared, leaving Leo in comfortable silence once again.
