Adam stared at the phone, his hands trembling as his blood ran cold.
What the fuck was Mark on about? Another favor? Debt? Was he talking about the deals? Those weren't favors! He was literally paying in blood and suffering, so those close to him wouldn't be punished for whatever Mark decided was a crime that week!
Adam shoved the phone back into his pocket and lowered his head onto his hands with a tired sigh.
Breathe in, breathe out.
Whatever. It's whatever, that guy never made sense before, why would he now?
Breathe in, breathe out.
He felt his heartbeat slow down and relaxed his shoulders, leaning back and sinking into the sofa.
Fine. Everything was going just fine, he had a meeting set up... everything was under control. He just needed to talk with Mark, and convince him to leave his punishments out of the classroom.
Breathe in, breathe out...
Snacks. He needed to get snacks.
He got off the sofa that by now knew his shape, and walked up to the vending machines.
Charging kids for food at a place where they're forced to be at sounded criminal, especially with such crazy mark-ups…
He adjusted his backpack and exited the deserted student lounge.
12.98Cr for a bag of chips and a juice box? Yeah, fuck that. There was a Short&Sweet right across the street, he could easily get a good enough offering for Mark here, for a fraction of the price.
The Devil went down to Georgia and lost his grandma.
Also, Short&Sweet is basically a snack and microwaveable meals store. Imported, national, fresh, frozen, generic, and name-brand, all at criminally low prices and generous discounts.
Euthanasia.
Quite the... macabre, but merciful concept. The idea that it is better to "die with grace" than to fight to delay the agonising inevitable, to give the suffering a way out without shame, pain, fear... To kindly lead them towards... peace.
But how do you apply that to someone whose existence is as certain as the universe itself? To a “god”?
...
Step 1: Orchestrate a genocide.
