Chaotic world: The Raid of Sins

Unexpected Events I

Unexpected Events I

Feb 10, 2026

Silver stared at him and said  ,wanna try it.

Night was about to leave, when he felt something, it wasn't just a simple match, the weapons weighed tons and the blind folds prevented even the slightest bit of light from passing through. The current two were fast, relying both on their senses and instincts. With one decisive move,  the spar was over, the bell rang again and  they pulled off their blind folds.

Night was amazed and in the blink of an eye, he was blindfolded and in the ring, with no idea how he got there.

He picked a sword, and night could barely hold it, it was heavy, the blade wasn't made of ordinary steel. It wasn't a chronicle yet he felt a  felt energy in it. Even as he was blindfolded, he could still see, from every shadow. I felt my opponent, his very position was clear, the range around me was defined but I could still feel a few  shadows out of that range. The bell rang, both of them moved fast as if they could see. Although night could see, it didn't really matter, night simply swung at his openings, when he struck it was like hitting a boulder, many times it was the weight of the blade, but he felt extremely weak to both his opponent and himself, and less than  a second later the fight was over. The bell rang and the fight was over.

It was shocking, he could see, but still too slow to react to it.

He took off the blind fold, and before I could think about anything I left.

Silver looked at me a little worried, parting with her, I headed for the training room.

When i got there, it was a very packed large room, with lots of good equipment. There were lifts that no mundane human would dare touch , weapons, a treadmill, a sand bag and lots more. And on the door, there was a large sign in red saying:

"No chronicles allowed"

It didn't bother him much since he didn't have much. Let's get started.

[Shadow Devour]

The sand bag's shadow sipped into my hand like smoke, other than that there was no noticeable change, both in him and his surroundings. Then to return it , he said back the first thing that came to his mind.

[Release]

The shadow returned back the same way it was devoured but this time it was in my palm instead of the floor. It was like smoke, only static and with no scent.

Just useless like I thought.

[Shadow Manipulation]

The form of the shadow twisted like it was alive, i reformed it into a ball, but that was it,  there was nothing, it was formless, weightless and useless like shadow devour was. The shadow returned back to  its original form, my head ached.

Even this much was enough to reduce my stamina, i glanced at my shadow.

You really are useless, aren't you.

It nodded in disbelief, and did something which resembled a stare, if a shadow even had eyes. It removed itself from the floor  and stared at me and i did too, it moved closer to me  and i touched it. Then out of a sudden it merged with me like glue, like we became one. It slipped onto me completely, and we became completely one, but still I felt no real change.

Out of nowhere, an arrow shot at me, panicking, I tried to block with my fist, a thought crossed through my mind, for it to   hurt me, and it just passed. through like an illusion, only the sandbag behind me was pierced with a hole in it .

I stared at  my hands and then my body, i was in that strange shadow.

It wasn't that it passed through me, i became intangible, someone walked in, seeing the bag leaking, he quickly apologized and walked away.

Regardless of how it happened, i felt a thrill, it seemed you are not so useless after all.

My shadow slipped off, with a smug look on its shadow face.

---

Hours passed yet , i couldn't use it again, i felt exhausted like my mind was about to tear, but i couldn't stop yet..

[Rune]

The runes appeared right in front of him, he waved at it and stopped the moment his fingers approached the runes describing his scar.

It said.

Scar- [Fading Memory]

[Fading Memory]: Your flame burns on your memory, the darker and longer it burns the more it fades. Although its true power is sealed, only this scar can free you.

The reason his instincts repulsed those flames, were because he knew instinctively, that it was slowly taking away what he had left. So he needed a power to survive without the flames and since the scar was only pointed towards the flames. The shadow traits he had were free. He clenched his fist, I can't stop now.

Then an idea popped up in his head, he could only use that form while he felt a sense of danger. So, glancing at the testing room, he felt a very dangerous plan form in his head.

The moment he pushed the door open, an instructor which was likely in charge if the place stared at him. His face clearly reflected  annoyance . Yet I just ignored it and asked if I could use the room. with an annoying sigh, he finally agreed. He turned around and set the controls. I entered the room.

The walls had holes in them, which clearly explained where that arrow came from. Then it started.

An arrow shot at him,  I could read it, so it was easy to dodge, but I couldn't feel that sensation i felt as I changed into that form. So I continued, the arrows became faster till I could feel myself slowing down .

The faster they became the harder it became to dodge them. Then, an arrow shot at him, just for a second he changed, his head ached as if it would split apart but he maintained that form. The arrows passed through without trouble but the toil that form had on him was nothing short of dreadful. I coughed up blood a little.

But i couldn't stop there, my life was still on the line, i had to survive, that was the only way to find everything that was beneath the fog in my head. To truly remember what i am.
