Song Qingge’s face immediately turned a vibrant shade of red.

“Wei Yaozu, what are you even saying?! I just arrived into this world yesterday! How could Shijie and I be a couple already!?”

Wei Yaozu scoffed.

“You were the one acting so familiar with her, can you blame me for misunderstanding?!” He retorted “I even have a black eye because of you two!”

“Well, that’s because…um…” Song Qingge couldn’t actually think of a good comeback. Ever since their chat last night, she really had been acting overly familiar with Feng Wenling!

 A wave of embarrassment and anxiety suddenly engulfed her entire body.

“Oh no, Wei Shidi, do you really think that I’ve been acting overly familiar with Feng Wenling? Do you think she noticed?!”

Wei Yaozu recalled Song Qingge’s previous behavior: Running up to Feng Wenling like a puppy, attacking someone on her behalf, and being moved to tears after Feng Wenling spoke up for her…

“If Feng Wenling didn’t notice, she is either blind or a complete fool.” He said simply.

Song Qingge began to anxiously pace back and forth.

“Ahh! Wei Shidi, what should I do? Do you think she finds me annoying? What if she hates me now?!”

Wei Yaozu pondered for a moment before answering her. He had never been very close to Feng Wenling, he had learned of her ‘engagement’ to Luo Jie his past life, so Wei Yaozu’s had always regarded Feng Wenling as his number one rival.

But if Song Qingge could actually succeed in seducing her… well, wouldn’t that just be wonderful?

“I don’t believe Feng Wenling hates you. She did speak up for you, after all.”  Wei Yaozu said after thinking this over. 

“Actually, I think she probably felt quite moved.”

Song Qingge’s eyes immediately lit up like fireworks.

“Do you really think so?! So it should be fine if I treat Feng Shijie the same way in the future, right?”

“…That should be fine. I think you could even take it a step further, I’m sure Feng Wenling would love to be good friends with you.” Wei Yaozu said, and he felt like a weight had been lifted off of his chest. 

Even though Song Qingge had figured out that the Fate Controlling Dagger didn’t actually have any special powers, and that his cultivation level was currently below hers, she had still decided to honor their deal.

With the knowledge he had from his past life, Wei Yaozu was sure that he would be able to advance quickly, so even if Song Qingge betrayed him in the future, he was confident that he would be able to deal with her. All he needed was some time.

Plus, he now knew Song Qingge’s biggest weakness was Feng Wenling.

Knowing that he still had a way to control Song Qingge caused the raging Qi in Wei Yaozu’s body to finally calm down, which steadied both his mind and body. 

He no longer wanted to try and fight Song Qingge (At least, not at that exact moment), so with renewed grace he picked his dagger up out of the grass and stashed it away in his sleeves.

“Come along now, I’ll show you the way to the Disciplinary Hall.”

Song Qingge didn’t think anything was weird about Wei Yaozu’s sudden mood change, this wasn’t the first time she had talked him down from killing her, after all. But she still hoped it would be the last. Managing the villain’s emotions was really quite tiresome!

For now, though, Song Qingge was just glad he was acting normal again and decided to follow along.

“Alright, let’s go!” She said with a relieved smile.

When the two Junior Disciples finally arrived at the Fenhui Sects Disciplinary Hall, they were immediately accosted by a man who had been waiting outside.

“You two are late! Ha! Yao Huizhong’s disciples truly are something!”

The man was a head and a half taller than Song Qingge and had black hair tied up into a neat bun, and not a hair was out of place. He had sharp blue eyes, which looked almost like a cat’s, and he wore simple, pristine black robes. He appeared around the same age as Yao Huizhong, though Song Qingge knew that didn’t necessarily mean anything in the Cultivation world.

But this combined with the man’s obsessively neat appearance and harsh words immediately clued Song Qingge into his identity.

This man had to be the Leader of the Sect’s Disciplinary Committee, Yao Huizhong’s Junior Brother, Xuan Yi!

During the first half of Alone at the Highest Peak, before Wei Yaozu was revealed to be the final boss, Xuan Yi and his two disciples had played the role of the story's antagonists.

Even though Yao Huizhong and Xuan Yi had grown up together and shared the same Master, the two Martial brothers had never gotten along. While Yao Huizhong was kind, caring, and a bit lax, Xuan Yi was coarse, unsociable, and extremely strict.

There were many stories floating around the Sect about the fights that had broken out between these two Martial Brothers, spanning as far back as when Xuan Yi first joined the Sect up to last year’s Annual Inner Sect Competition.

Such deep amenity between their two Masters naturally created a rivalry between their Disciples, so whenever Luo Jie and his Juniors went on a mission outside the Sect, Xuan Yi’s Disciples always appeared to cause trouble.

Wei Yaozu and Song Qingge shared a worried glance.

Xuan Yi definitely wasn’t going to let them off easy!

Wei Yaozu hastily bowed and Song Qingge swiftly followed his lead. She wracked her brain for an excuse, if Xuan Yi found out the truth, her Junior Brother would be done for!

“Shishu, we apologize! I couldn’t remember the way to the Disciplinary Hall, which resulted in us being late. Please forgive me and my Shidi!”

This technically wasn’t a lie, Song Qingge really didn’t know the way, but her apology was immediately dismissed by a scoff.

“Song Qingge, you actually dare to lie to my face?! You’ve been sent here so many times, how could you not know the way?!”

“And don't call me your Shishu, I don’t acknowledge your foolish Master as my Senior Brother!”

Song Qingge looked up at Xuan Yi with confusion.

“But Shishu, you’re still technically my Martial Uncle, what else can I call you?”

“Insolence!” Xuan Yi shouted, which did not answer Song Qingge’s question.

“I’m increasing both of your punishments, you are to copy the Sect Rules an additional hundred times for being late, and another hundred for talking back. Now hurry inside and get to it!”

Wei Yaozu immediately  shot Song Qingge a piercing glare, which she did her best to ignore.

To avoid increasing their punishment even further, the two just bowed to Xuan Yi and silently entered the Disciplinary Hall.
