The Prophet remembered the Qur’anic words: “And indeed, among the stones are those that fall down for fear of Allah” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:74). He placed his hand gently upon the stone and recited verses of mercy. The stone trembled again, whispering, “Does Allah forgive even the smallest of beings? I am but dust and silence.”
With tears in his eyes, the Prophet replied, “Indeed, Allah SWT mercy encompasses all things (7:156). Even your fear is counted as praise.” The stone was silent for a moment, then began to cry again — this time not in fear, but in longing. The mountain around them echoed a strange sound, like a song of yearning. The Prophet recognized this as the love of Allah awakening in the creation, the same love that causes hearts to soften, tongues to repent, and souls to rise.
