She started running on the track again.
But this time, she wasn’t running for fitness. She was running to make sure Haruv didn’t see her.
The early morning sun was just beginning to rise, painting the sky in soft shades of gold and pale orange. A chilled breeze brushed against her skin, carrying the scent of wet grass. The weather was calm, almost beautiful — the kind of morning that felt peaceful to everyone else.
People were scattered across the park — some stretching, some jogging, some doing yoga beneath the trees.
And beneath one of those trees…
Haruv was exercising.
She avoided looking at him.
She kept running.
Her heartbeat wasn’t racing because of the pace — it was racing because she didn’t want him to notice her.
Then—
Suddenly, someone collided with her.
They hit each other unexpectedly, and the man lost his balance, falling onto the ground.
“I’m so sorry!” she immediately said, panic filling her voice.
She bent down quickly and extended her hand. “Are you okay?”
She grabbed his hand to help him up.
And the moment their skin touched—
Something shifted.
A sharp wave rushed through her.
Her vision blurred.
A memory.
A flash.
That night…
The night her parents died.
The night she received the curse — or blessing.
She didn’t only gain the ability to see the future.
She could also see the past.
If she touched someone’s hand.
The present dissolved around her.
Her body remained there in the park, holding the stranger’s hand…
But her mind was somewhere else.
Inside his memory.
Inside his past.
Her eyes were open — yet she couldn’t see the world in front of her.
Meanwhile—
Haruv had finished his exercises.
He was on his way home when he noticed her.
She was standing still.
Holding another man’s hand.
The man was still on the ground.
And she wasn’t moving.
Haruv’s steps slowed.
Something unfamiliar twisted inside his chest.
Jealousy.
Just a little.
But enough to make him stare longer than he should have.
