My Pointlessly Boring Life

Ever shopping

Ever shopping

Feb 14, 2026

Getting proper fresh air is known to be good for oneself. As is socializing, as much as Ever dislikes that fact. Thus, it came to be that they were unofficially contractually obligated to be dragged out regularly on a day of doing things outside of work and home. Usually by Patty as the petite woman was one of the few who could convince Ever to go out for no reason.
Today, a picnic at the local park. And then, of course, some shopping in the commercial district. Well, mostly Patty shopping while Ever carried the bags... Though there usually ended up being something that caught Ever's attention when the two browsed the shops. And if not at the other places, Patty made a point to have one of the stops be a tiny hole in the wall store that specialized in homemade comforts such as pillow, blankets, and all sort of knitted items. The day Ever didn't find something worth purchasing there, would likely be the day the world ended forever.
"How many more before I can go home, Patty?" Ever already had multiple bags as they walked.
"Really now. All the walking around is good for us... Even if you're standing a lot during work, it's not like you're very active on the clock and even less so at home."
"I can be plenty active, thank-you-very-much."
"If you say so. But more wouldn't hurt." Patty got an alert on her phone and checked it before sighing. "I guess you'll get your wish... Most of the stores will probably be closing early now."
Ever quickened their pace. "Then we should try to make it to Luxury Clouds before it closes up too."
Of course they would want to go there after being dragged around to all those other stores first. Especially if there was a decent chance it would be closing up soon. As the two headed that way, the amount of people became noticeably less. Most likely as people noticed the alert on their phone or heard about it from others, few would not decide to leave the area. The stragglers still around seemed more focused, as if just wanting to finish the purpose of being here quickly.
The ting of a little bell rang out as the shop door opens inward. "Welcome to Luxury Clouds! Unfortunately we will be closing shortly but feel free to come browse another day." The cozy voice comes from the other side of a shelf. An older woman best described as what a sheep might look like if turned into a human, pops her head around the corner. "Oh, Ever, dear. I didn't realize it was you... I suppose it's fine if you're quick. I have some new items since your last visit."
"Thanks, Auntie." Ever doesn't take as long as usual picking something out to buy, seemingly making a decision by running their left hand over what the shopkeeper showed them. The softest one won being bought today.
"Thank you for your purchase. Stay safe, Dearies."
"We will." Patty grinned with a wave as they both headed for the exit. "You know how sturdy Ever can be and we'll be cutting our shopping short after here."
"Good." The statement was accented with a nod.
Once the two friends made it back to Ever's place, Patty decided to stay around longer instead of traveling to her own home. She knew Ever would likely head straight to bed with the excuse of trying out their newest purchase if given the chance. And while there was nothing wrong with relaxing, they probably leaned on the doing such too much side of things.
"Since our outing was cut short, what do you want to do?"
"Nap."
"How about a movie?" Patty figured it was an acceptable compromise and Ever nodded in wordless agreement. "Then I'll grab us snacks while you set it up... Do you have any leftovers we can heat up if it starts getting close to dinnertime?"
"My bribe meals. I'm not sharing..."
Patty looked at Ever a moment. "...If who I think made it did, you can have it all to yourself."
It wasn't much after that the two were sitting in Ever's living room with a movie going and fresh popcorn between them.

The totally boring and tiring life of Ever, the strongest failure one might come across. They like reading, listening to music, watching TV, and anything else that lets them not have to deal with people. They probably should be seeing a therapist; they aren't.
Honestly, they don't know why anyone would want to read a story about them. They probably live the most boring life possible.
