“Alright, so if I give you the phone, you’ll be able to look for a house like this?”
Mayoki widened her eyes and looked at me, holding the phone in her hand with a slight tilt.
“Just hand me the phone. It won’t take long, it’s only a few minutes to search.”
I took out my phone from my pocket and extended it toward her, my hand trembling slightly.
“Okay, here you go, but be careful. My phone isn’t that great. It lags sometimes. Just tap carefully, and it’ll be fine.”
Mayoki gave a faint smile, a hint of surprise in her eyes.
“No problem. My dad has a phone like this too. I’ve used one before. So I have plenty of experience with phones like this. You just watch.”
She took the phone and started swiping carefully across the screen.
Suddenly, she looked at me, frowning.
“Wait, Hiroshi, why isn’t the data working on your phone? How can I search online if there’s no data? Oh, there’s no SIM in your phone! That’s why the data isn’t working. Without a SIM, how can we search online?”
I was startled, my eyes widening.
“What! My phone doesn’t have a SIM!”
At that moment it hit me I had removed the SIM in the morning.
Everyone had been calling and checking.
Then I remembered, there was a lot of money on that SIM…
Oh no… maybe around ten thousand taka.
It would have been better if I had taken the money first and then removed the SIM.
Anger always leads to mistakes that always brings trouble.
But now, there was nothing to be done.
The SIM was already gone.
Even if I thought about the money, it wouldn’t come back.
I let out a faint laugh, raising my eyes slightly.
“Oh, the SIM, I totally forgot. Dad mentioned. You’ve grown up now. You’ll use your own ID card to get a SIM. Give me my SIM Dad had taken it for himself, and I didn’t even bother to get a new one, so there’s no SIM in the phone.”
Mayoki looked at me with a strange expression, holding the phone and leaning in slightly.
Suddenly she opened her bag and started searching for something.
After a few seconds, she pulled out a small note, a smile in her eyes, and held it out toward me.
Curious, I asked,
“What’s inside that note?”
Mayoki laughed, tilting her head slightly.
“Just watch, see what’s inside.”
As I opened the note, I saw the SIM.
She inserted it into the phone and began searching online, her eyes focused.
A little while later, she laughed out loud, looking at me with a small shout of excitement:
“Hiroshi, I found a house!”
I was amazed, my eyes wide in surprise.
“What! You found it so quickly? So, where is the house? And the rent is within five thousand taka, right?”
She shook her head, raising her eyebrows slightly.
“Yes, I found a house within five thousand taka.
But the problem is, it’s in a hilly area.
And the house is very old, made of wood.
That’s why they’re renting the whole place for five thousand.”
I waved my hand.
“Oh, that’s fine. But how far is it from here?”
Mayoki made a slightly troubled face, a hint of worry in her eyes.
“About 50 kilometers, I guess.
From here, it will take 20 to 30 minutes to reach the house on foot.”
I let out a small shout, raising my hand slightly.
“What! How can I go so far! If I start walking from here, it’ll take two days. I’m not even sure I’ll reach. What can we do now?”
Mayoki stared at the phone for a while, scratching her head.
Suddenly, she exclaimed,
“Oh, now I remember! Don’t worry, don’t stress, I’ll handle this.”
She started searching inside the phone again, her eyes shining.
A little later, she jumped up joyfully and shouted,
In society, people are judged by their studies, but their abilities are not recognized. If you get good results, everyone is happy with you. But if your results are bad, you become a burden in the eyes of that society. But Why? Does society only look at studies?
Society is like a wheel—where one person leans, the whole society leans in that direction. This is the story of a boy. Because he gets bad results, neither his family nor society accepts him. Everyone judges him only by his exam results.
For this reason, he leaves home and goes to an unknown city—where people are not judged by their studies, but by their abilities, behavior, and conduct. Everyone can achieve abilities, but how many can truly master behavior and conduct?
