The sound of utensils echoed from the kitchen.

She sat still, holding a cup of tea.

Her mind wasn’t there.

“Will you be late again today?”

Her mother asked.

She nodded.

She wanted to say something… but didn’t.

The door closed.

And the house returned to its familiar silence.

The office felt routine.

Screens, files, people—busy as always.

Then she collided with someone.

Their eyes met.

Just for a moment.

“Can’t you watch where you’re going?”

She snapped.

“You were standing in the way,”

He replied.

No apology.

No smile.

She walked away.

But her thoughts didn’t.

At tea break, she heard his laughter.

Without meaning to, she looked.

He didn’t seem special.

Yet…

Something felt different.

By evening, rain poured down.

Power went out.

The staircase was dark.

“Wait—”

A voice called behind her.

She turned.

It was him.

“It’s slippery here,”

He said.

That was all.

She nodded.

They walked down together.

In silence.

At home, she wondered—

Do some encounters just happen?
