Or maybe… not.

She arrived late.

His chair was empty.

It felt strange.

“He didn’t come today?”

She thought.

By evening, she saw him.

His hand was bandaged.

“What happened?”

She asked without thinking.

He paused.

“Slipped yesterday in the rain.”

Nothing dramatic.

No long explanation.

But his eyes said more.

During break, they sat nearby.

Silence lingered.

“You—”

She stopped.

“Yes?”

He looked at her.

Then silence again.

Some things don’t need words.

While leaving, she opened her umbrella.

“If you want—”

He gestured.

A brief hesitation.

Then she stepped closer.

Two people.

One umbrella.

And many unspoken thoughts.

She wondered—

Is this the same person

I argued with yesterday?

And he thought—

Can someone so quiet

feel this close so suddenly?

The rain stopped.

But questions didn’t.

Was this just a beginning?

Or the hint of a story

waiting to unfold slowly?
