Not empty—just calm.

The kind of calm that makes you notice small things.

She stirred her coffee slowly, even though the sugar had already dissolved.

He sat across from her, phone face-down, hands resting on the table.

They hadn’t planned to meet.

It just… happened.

“So,” she said, breaking the silence, “you disappeared.”

He smiled slightly. Not defensive. Just tired.

“Did I?”

“You stopped replying.”

“I stopped explaining.”

That made her pause.

Outside, a bike passed. Someone laughed. Life moved on.

“I didn’t know what to say,” he continued. “Every message felt like it needed clarity. And I didn’t have any.”

She nodded. Not because she fully understood—but because she felt it.

“You know,” she said softly, “sometimes silence says more than words. But it also leaves space for wrong meanings.”

He looked at her then. Properly.

“Did you assume something?”

She met his eyes. Didn’t answer immediately.

“I assumed you chose distance.”

He exhaled.

“I chose confusion.”

For the first time, they both smiled. Not happy. Just honest.

When they stood up to leave, neither of them said goodbye properly.

Because somehow… it didn’t feel like an ending.
