Not heavily. Just enough to change plans.

She stood under the shop shade, checking the sky more than her phone.

He stopped beside her, shaking water off his jacket.

“Looks like it’s not stopping,” he said.

She smiled. “It never does when you want it to.”

They waited.

Minutes passed.

No rush. No pressure.

“You remember that day,” she said suddenly, “when we almost said everything?”

He chuckled softly. “Which one?”

She looked at him. “Exactly.”

The rain grew steadier.

“I think,” he said, “we keep stopping ourselves at the edge.”

“Out of fear?”

“Out of respect,” he corrected. “And fear. Both.”

She considered that.

“I don’t want promises,” she said. “I just don’t want silence again.”

He nodded. Slowly.

“No disappearing,” he said. “Even if I don’t have answers.”

“That’s enough,” she replied.

The rain finally slowed.

They walked in opposite directions this time.

No dramatic turn. No last look.

Yet both of them knew—

Something had shifted.

Not love.

Not yet.

But no longer nothing.
