INT. HERO ACADEMY — COMBAT ARENA — EVENING
WEATHER (OUTSIDE): Storm clouds rolling in. Distant thunder.
SOUND: Low crowd murmur. Energy barriers humming.
WIDE SHOT
The arena resets again—cracked stone replaced by smooth steel panels.
Luke steps forward.
Shoulders squared. Calm—but focused.
Tyler leans over the railing.
TYLER
Your turn, captain.
Liam nods once.
LIAM
Don’t force it.
Luke exhales.
LUKE
I won’t.
MATCHUP DISPLAY
LUKE — VS — SERAPH KLINE
The lights dim slightly.
A boy walks out from the opposite gate.
RIVAL INTRO — SERAPH
APPEARANCE:
Silver-blond hair tied back
Pale gold eyes
Slim, elegant build
Long academy coat flowing behind him
AURA: Blinding white-gold light, sharp and cutting.
He smiles politely.
SERAPH
Light user?
Luke nods.
LUKE
Yeah.
Seraph tilts his head.
SERAPH
Then let’s see whose shines cleaner.
OBSERVATION DECK
INSTRUCTOR
Seraph specializes in light refraction and precision beams.
SECOND INSTRUCTOR
Luke relies on reinforcement and shielding.
INSTRUCTOR
This will push him.
THE FIGHT BEGINS
BUZZER.
Seraph vanishes in a FLASH.
Light splinters into razor-thin beams.
Luke throws up a yellow barrier—
CRACK.
The shield fractures.
Luke skids backward.
LUKE (V.O.)
He’s faster than me.
PRESSURE BUILDS
Seraph circles, beams bouncing off arena walls.
SERAPH
You block too much.
A beam grazes Luke’s shoulder.
Not painful.
But heavy.
SERAPH (CONT’D)
Light isn’t meant to stop things.
SERAPH (CONT’D)
It’s meant to move.
LUKE STRUGGLES
Luke braces again—
Another beam punches through his defense.
He drops to one knee.
Tyler clenches the railing.
TYLER
Luke—
Liam narrows his eyes.
LIAM
He’s thinking.
INNER SHIFT
CLOSE ON — LUKE’S HAND
Yellow light flickers… then slides sideways.
Luke’s eyes widen.
LUKE (V.O.)
…Move it?
He stands.
Relaxes his stance.
POWER AWAKENING
Luke raises one hand—not to block—
But to ANGLE.
LUKE
Then let’s move.
The next beam hits—
—and BENDS, curving away like water.
The crowd gasps.
NEW ABILITY — LIGHT REFRACTION FIELD
Yellow light spreads around Luke, not solid—
FLUID. DYNAMIC.
Beams curve. Attacks miss.
Seraph steps back, shocked.
SERAPH
You’re… redirecting it?
Luke nods.
LUKE
Guess I learned something.
TURNING THE TIDE
Luke advances.
Each step leaves a faint golden trail.
He flicks his wrist—
The bent light SNAPS BACK, striking Seraph from the side.
Seraph stumbles.
Luke moves faster now.
Not stronger—
Smarter.
FINAL MOVE
Seraph fires everything at once.
A blinding storm of light.
Luke closes his eyes.
Breath steady.
LUKE
Light—
Flow.
The storm curves inward—
Spirals—
Then collapses harmlessly into the ground.
Luke appears in front of Seraph.
One controlled strike.
Seraph falls back—on his feet—but out of bounds.
END OF MATCH
BUZZER.
INSTRUCTOR
Winner—
Luke.
The arena erupts.
AFTERMATH
Seraph smiles, genuine.
SERAPH
You didn’t overpower me.
Luke offers a hand.
LUKE
Didn’t need to.
They shake.
FRIENDS REUNITE
Tyler pumps both fists.
TYLER
LET’S GO!
Liam smiles quietly.
LIAM
You leveled up.
Luke looks at his glowing hands—now calm, controlled.
LUKE
Guess we all are.
Three friends standing together in the arena.
Earth.
Light.
Northern speed.
Balanced.
