Stupidly Shattered System

Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Mar 02, 2026

Feeling great hunger, he stared at the corpses for a few more moments, but then his eyes moved down to the skeletons. He slowly leaned down and stepped onto the ribs of the closed skeleton, then he grabbed one of its arms, and with some force, he removed it.

"Smith"

He mumbled, and in the next moment, the hand transformed into a crude knife. Fortunately, thanks to its crudeness, its edge seemed sharper; however, he also noticed that using the skill on anything other than wood consumed more of his stamina, and he felt even more tired.

Now that he had a somewhat usable tool to extract meat from the wolf corpses, he only needed fire. So with great determination, he started climbing up into the closest tree. Despite his tiredness, he felt that it was quite easy to climb.

Once he was at the top, from his storage, he summoned the extremely heavy club. The club fell, breaking a great number of branches. It fell all the way to the ground, breaking off even the thickest of branches. So he quickly climbed off. Now he had enough wood.

After putting the club back into his inventory, Monier pulled the largest branch out of the pile and proceeded to break off parts of it, from which he had a pile so he could start the fire, which he successfully ignited after casting Ember a few times.

While the fire started slowly spreading across the small pile of wood, he pulled his knife out and proceeded to cut one of the wolf corpses open. Without any sort of experience or knowing what was what, he just cut out a sizable chunk, which he skewered with a stick and left by the fire.

He added a few larger broken pieces of wood onto the fire, and then he returned to the larger pile of branches. Using his smithing skill, he proceeded to make a few more baseball clubs, maces, a shield, and even some armor as well.

He made a pair of wrist guards, a chestplate, a pair of shoulder guards, boots, and finally a helmet. Although they were not very well secured to him, they were better than nothing, and even if they could block a single arrow or a single bite, they were more than worth it.

Once he was done, he still had three larger parts left, so he turned them into weapons. Two into maces, but the third, he decided to change it a bit and instead made a morning star, though its spikes turned out to be quite dull and seemingly meaningless.

Whatever small extra sticks were left behind after his crafting spree, he brought them over to the fire, which was just barely burning. He dropped a few smaller sticks on and, at the same time, inspected his meat.

It still seemed quite raw, and he still needed to roast the other side as well, so he slightly brought the meat closer to the fire, and then he just sat down. Occasionally, he dropped a few sticks onto the fire once the previous ones were already burning.

As he sat there, his eyes felt heavier and heavier. Eventually, he could no longer stay awake and fell asleep beside the burning fire. In his sleep, he slightly leaned forward; it was a miracle he didn't fall backward, but his peaceful time didn't last long; in fact, he had quite a rude awakening.

Suddenly, he felt a burst of pain in his chest, and as he opened his eyes, he was on the ground. He quickly looked at his left shoulder to see an arrow sticking out of his guard. Although the guard somehow worked, the arrow still managed to pierce through it and penetrate his shoulder.

He quickly tore it out and grabbed one of his maces from his inventory. He was still tired and extremely hungry; he could barely stand, but what he saw woke him up completely.

Dozens of skeletons had spawned in that round. Some had bows, and this time, some had metal swords. The sight was terrifying; however, he didn't have much time to think, as the skeleton archers once again readied their bows and fired.

Moneir quickly pulled his shield in front of him to block the arrows. The shield was too thin and weak. The tips of the arrows all slightly went through the wooden shield, and one even penetrated his arm. It was so deep that the tip of the arrow went straight across his arm.

Pain instantly hit him, but he knew that he needed to act; he would be dead. Since this time, he only needed to face skeletons; he didn't need to worry about the opponent's speed, so he just rushed headfirst.

As he tried to close the gap between the archers and him, he unconsciously opened a new panel, as he felt that this number of skeletons would most likely complete his second task.

"

Kill 100 monsters   18/100

Reach level 6   2/6

"

Glancing at the text for a moment, he noticed that the first line vanished; he thought that at least he would get a tick, or something better, instead of just this.

As he shook his head, the archers fired another barrage of projectiles, startling him, as previously they were much slower, and since he didn't have enough time to jump to the side, he used his shield once again. This time, however, two extra arrows went through his arm, and one just barely grazed it.

He screamed both in pain and as a battle cry and rushed beside the melee skeletons and finally reached the archers. Without a second thought, he slammed his mace against the closet, completely breaking it. Although their speed increased, at least their durability stayed the same. And at the same time, the counter changed.

"

Kill 100 monsters   19/100

Reach level 6   2/6

"

The counter updated with each kill. However, he overestimated his abilities. The large number of skeletons was quite a difficult challenge; had he not made wooden armor, he would have definitely died. Still, both his back and chest were full of deep wounds.

Although the unarmed skeletons could only scratch the wood he wore, the ones with the swords could cut through it and even cut into his flesh. And when he was finally done, he could barely stand. Exhaustion, blood loss, and hunger were trying their best to bring him down. But he refused to go down, and his eyes shifted over to the floating messages.

"Strength 2->3"

"Endurance 2->3"

"Endurance 3->4"

"Swordsmanship 2->3"

"1:59:59 left until the next wave of monsters."

"

Kill 100 monsters   101/100

Reach level 6   2/6

"
