"You want to join us?" The boy asked in disbelief. He took a few glances at the group of children slowly crowding around.
"Yes, please!" The girl pleaded. Her pale blue eyes sparkled like gems.
The boy flinched. He noticed that the girl's clothes were fresh and neat like she had never stepped foot outside before now.
"You're... not from around here, are you?" He asked her.
"Huh? No. My parents are warriors, so I live close the chief's quarters." She explained.
The girl took a few confident steps closer to the boy. As if he had something to hide, the boy stumbled away from her. Did I say something weird? She thought to herself. She could feel the atmosphere getting colder and colder. It felt as if someone had thrown ice cold water over their conversation.
"You shouldn't be here..." He forwarned. He looked awkward as if he knew what would happen next.
As though her eyes and ears had only been focused on the boy, the girl was startled by the whispers and muttering voices. Did she not notice the crowd forming around her? I wonder.
As if her ears were pleading for her to hear the words they spoke, she could hear what was being said clearly.
"The hero's daughter?"
"She wants to play with us? Goodness, surely she is jesting."
"If something were to happen to her, who'll be to blame?"
"I don't want to get in trouble for something I didn't do."
"She should leave here at once."
"Leave.
Hearing these words, the girl nervously glance at the faces of the children surrounding her.
