Kai Lee

Three weeks.

Twenty-one days of staring at my scanner, seeing a gaping hole where the address Unit 3B used to be. The silence from Brookhaven Heights was louder than the screeching brakes of my van or the mindless chatter in the warehouse.

I’d effectively ‘fixed’ my efficiency metrics. My supervisor even gave me a nod of approval for my improved speed. But I felt like a ghost. I’d go through the motions, dropping off air fryers and gym supplements, but every time I passed the turn-off for Min Jae’s complex, my chest tightened until it was hard to breathe.

I’d been a coward. I’d accused him of treating me like an object because I was too scared to admit I’d fallen for a client. I’d blamed the toys because the reality, that I actually cared about the man behind the door, was terrifying.

Then, on a rainy Tuesday, it appeared.

It wasn’t a standard box. It was a flat, heavy envelope. No ‘Adult Product’ warning. No ‘Discreet Shipping’ label. Just his name, my route, and a handwritten note on the shipping slip: ATTN: KAI LEE – PERSONAL.

My heart did a violent kick against my ribs. I didn't wait for the end of my shift. I broke every speed limit in the city to get to Brookhaven Heights. I didn't knock. I leaned my forehead against the door, my hand trembling as I reached for the bell. The door opened before I could touch it. Min Jae looked like he hadn't slept in the same three weeks I’d been gone. He wasn't in a silk robe or leather. He was wearing a plain black t-shirt and jeans, looking painfully human and devastatingly beautiful.

“You're here,” he whispered.

“I have a delivery,” I said, my voice cracking.

I handed him the envelope. He didn't look at it. He looked at me, his eyes searching mine with a vulnerability that made me want to drop to my knees.

“I'm done with the orders, Kai. The toys, the games... I’m done with all of it.”

“I saw,” I managed to say. “The scanner has been empty in your location for a while.”

“It's empty because I don't want you to deliveryman anymore,” Min Jae said, stepping closer. His scent—vanilla and warm skin—hit me like a physical blow. He reached out, his fingers grazing the sleeve of my uniform. “I no longer want the person who drops off a box and leaves. I want the man who looked at me like I was the only thing in the world that mattered, even when I was tied to a ceiling. I want to know you, Kai. Not the guy on the clock. Not just my deliveryman. Just you.”

He didn't open the envelope. He just tucked it into my vest pocket, his hand lingering over my heart.

“In there is my personal number. No apps, no customer service lines. I’m not asking for a signature this time. I’m asking for a chance.”

The fever pitch of the last three weeks finally broke. It wasn't about a product or a performance; it was the sudden, sharp realization that the door was finally, truly open. I grabbed him by the waist and hauled him into my arms, crashing my lips against his with a desperation that tasted like an apology.

He let out a broken sob into my mouth, his arms winding around my neck, pulling me into the apartment. We didn't make it to the bedroom. We hit the wall of the hallway, the same hallway where I’d once left him shivering with a remote control, but this time, there was nothing between us but skin and truth.

I stripped my uniform off, the heavy gray fabric hitting the floor like a shed skin, leaving me exposed in a way I’d never been before. There was no professional distance left, no role-play to hide behind. When I pushed his jeans down, my hands weren't steady; they were trembling with a hunger that felt like it might consume us both.

I lifted him, his back hitting the cool drywall of the hallway with a dull thud that echoed in the quiet apartment. He wrapped his legs around my waist, his heels digging into the small of my back, pulling me into his heat as if he were trying to pull me inside his very soul.

When I entered him this time, it wasn't a punishing grind or a calculated move designed to elicit a specific reaction. It was raw. It was uncoordinated and frantic, driven by three weeks of agonizing silence. I buried my face in the crook of his neck, breathing in the scent of him—real, unadorned, and intoxicating. My body shook with the release of weeks of wanting, every thrust a silent plea for forgiveness.

“Min Jae,” I groaned, the sound vibrating against his skin. I interlaced my fingers with his, pinning his hands against the wall high above his head. No cold steel cuffs. No leather restraints. Just the crushing weight of my grip and the searing heat of our palms pressed together. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry for walking away.”

“Shut up,” he gasped, his head falling back against the wall, his eyes fluttering shut in a mask of pure, unadulterated sensation. He arched his back, forcing me deeper, his muscles tightening around me in a rhythmic, desperate welcome. “Don't talk. Just stay. Don't leave when the scanner beeps. Just stay right here.”

I lost myself in him. I followed the curve of his throat with my tongue, tasting the salt of his skin and the quiet, broken sounds he made—noises he’d never made for the toys or the cameras. This was for me.

We moved together in a frantic, beautiful friction, the hallway feeling smaller and hotter with every passing second. I watched his face, memorizing the way his brow furrowed and the way he bit his lip to keep from screaming my name. When the end came, it wasn't a performance; it was a collapse. A total surrender that left us both breathless and clinging to one another in the hallway shadows.

I didn't pull away. I kept him pinned there, my forehead resting against his, our hearts hammering a frantic, matching rhythm against our ribs. I stayed. I stayed until the sun dipped below the horizon and the hallway turned to bruised purple. I stayed until the van outside was surely being flagged as ‘stationary’ by the warehouse GPS, and my phone was vibrating with missed alerts I had no intention of answering.

I wasn't worried about the schedule. The only thing I was delivering was a promise—and I intended to keep it for a very long time.
