“It’s been bugging me since I first met him years ago. His situation hasn’t helped with my confusion, but… if we’re right… I’m honestly not sure what that even means.”
“I would recommend waiting until he is ready… we could still be wrong.”
“I’ve been treading carefully, trying to push him as much as I can without being too obvious, but… I hope I’m wrong, as that’s just gonna make me feel like even more of an ass than I already do. Something to keep in mind. We should probably talk to her about it too.”
“You may be right.”
“Alright, I need to think about this a bit more. I’m gonna get some sleep. You should probably do the same.”
“I shall. Good night.”
“You seem troubled… asshole.”
My companion of twenty some years lies on the ground, struggling to stay awake as he attempts to throw verbal barbs at me. Looking down to his side—the wound is still wide open, from the left side of his stomach to his spine. All the more reason I chose his body. This would have killed anyone else.
What surprises me, however, is him being able to speak, however little, of his own accord.
I think I have Edward to thank for that… a fact he doesn’t need to know for himself.
“Whilst I am allowing you to, I do not recommend speaking too much. Your ‘father’ almost cut you in half.”
“…”
That shut him up.
“None of this will matter soon. Considering THEY are with them now, they’ll soon learn the truth. Once they do, well, you know what that entails just as much as I do at this point. Isn’t that right, ‘friend?’”
“...”
“No witty reply? Such a shame, fret not. We can finally begin this much prolonged trial.”
“They’ll stop you. Count on it.”
He, with his usual glare, retorts as best as he can.
“I highly doubt that. Now then, be quiet and concentrate on repairing yourself. It shouldn’t take too long with this cyborg body of yours and me expediting the process. Once you do, you will have the honor of killing your father and brother. Won’t that be nice?”
