The children stared at the girl with a cold, lifeless look in their eyes. They stood far away from her as if they had a wall between them.
A cold chill ran down the girl's spine. Up until now, the girl had grown up full of loving and kind people. However, what she felt was very foreign to her, nor had she ever witnessed the fear and caution some had for her. Why are they staring at me that way? She thought to herself.
Like chirping birds, the whispering and muttering got louder and louder, slowly driving the girl into a panic. Sweat ran down her side burns. Her trembling hands were cold and wet. Thus, the basket slipped from her grasp. It's too loud. She thought. The girl felt as if she was a small bunny surrounded by large hissing snakes.
As if warning her of the danger, her legs took off in the opposite direction of the crowd. She did not stop even when her lungs burned and stung like it was getting prickled by sharp shards of ice. She kept running and running and running. Not knowing where she was going, the girl ran aimlessly into an abandoned part of the village. At this point, the girl could not breathe. Due to her sore legs, she fell to her knees and gripped onto her chest, trying hard to steady her breath.
Due drops of water fell to the ground. And so it began to rain.
Though she was exhausted from running. Though the cold rain made her body feel like a block of ice. She did not call out for help.
The girl sat silently on the cold, wet floor. Now that it was quiet, her body had begun to relax. Along with the tears that immeadiately fell from her eyes.
