Should he just accept all of this without overthinking? Was he afraid that he would wake up one day and see a list from Aleksandr mentioning all the things he had done for him?

Seeing Mika’s consternation, he proposed to sit and eat before the food got cold. “No, not this. This is your coffee,” Aleksandr said, taking back the coffee cup from Mika and handing him another one.

“You remembered what I drank. Flat white,” Mika said after taking a sip.

Aleksandr only nodded.

“You’re not eating?” Mika asked, noticing the lack of a plate in front of Aleksandr. His mouth was already full of food. He started with shakshuka. It was warm and a little bit spicy, a perfect combination.

“I usually have just coffee after I wake up.”

“I’m starving after the sex. I need to catch up on all the calories I’ve lost yesterday,” Mika added, to which Aleksandr choked on his coffee.

Mika raised his eyebrow and looked at him with a questioning look. “What now? Don’t tell me you’re surprised I’m hungry? You didn’t let me get out of bed for a few hours.”

“You’re always so upfront?” Aleksandr remarked, watching Mika take another bite of the shakshuka, which quickly disappeared into his mouth.

“I’m just stating the facts,” he added, winking at Aleksandr.
 
“Did you…just wink at me?” Aleksandr’s eyes widened, a small blush on his face.

Mika’s lips curled up slightly. “Yes.”

“Stop it…Mika,” Aleksandr said, but he didn’t sound convincing. He took a sip of his cappuccino, but then immediately averted his gaze after seeing Mika wink for a second time.

“I can’t. And I don’t want to,” he replied playfully. “Come on, look at me. You were looking in my eyes all the time when we had sex.”

“No.”
 
“Why? Afraid I’ll eat you instead of food?”

Aha, gotcha, Mika thought after seeing Aleksandr’s face turning red.

A sudden question came to his mind as he was chewing the food.

Will there be a day when I’ll have a chance to get a taste of him?

Although they discussed their preferences and Aleksandr expressed his willingness to bottom without the slightest hesitation, Mika only nodded. He didn’t feel convinced. Not because of Aleksandr, but because of all his past experience - throughout all those years he was in a relationship, he topped only a few times.

His boyfriends, eager in the beginning, were quickly backing up after trying to be on the receiving end just once. The usual excuse was ‘I think I’m not built to be a bottom. How about we get back to how it was before?’ Mika always ended up agreeing with them. It was safer that way than to get into a potential fight.

Part of him was happy when he heard Aleksandr saying, ‘I don’t have any problem with that.’ But part of him just couldn’t believe that. Those words were too good to be true…

That will probably never happen. Besides... for a man like him, I’m happy to bottom all the time.

And with that conclusion, Mika reached for another chlebíček and hurriedly shoved it into his mouth, deciding to leave all those wishes within his imagination.

“Do you like the food?” Aleksandr asked, trying to change the topic when he realized how bizarre his question was. In this short amount of time, Mika managed to eat almost half of what was on his plate.

“It’s delicious - just like you,” he said, licking his thumb suggestively.

“…Mika”

“Okay, Okay. I will behave. I promise.” Mika smiled, then took another chlebíček.

They sat quietly for some time before Mika decided to speak up. “The food is really, really good. And it’s not that I’m complaining, it’s just…” he paused for a moment, “… I can’t stop thinking about the sandwiches you made me back then. They were the best.”

Aleksandr was surprised to hear Mika remembered such a small detail from the day he asked him to become a part of his life. Not to mention, his cooking skills were far from great. He didn’t have anyone to cook for, so he usually ordered food from various places. “But those were only sandwiches, nothing special.”

“You know… that was the first time my boyfriend made sandwiches for me. So, for me, they were the best ones I have ever had. It’s not that they were just food. For me, they meant ‘I did it for you because you’re important to me. I’m thinking about you. I care about you. I want you to feel good.’, something like that.” He said, then realized, “Oh, sorry… We didn’t discuss this, but are you ok with me calling you my boyfriend? Or do you prefer a partner?”

Aleksandr’s lips formed a subtle smile. “Boyfriend, partner… I’ve never been called like that. I’m fine with whatever you want.” Aleksandr felt a pleasant warmth spreading in his chest as he said those words. For the first time, he was someone’s boyfriend. He was a part of someone’s life. He was needed and could give Mika his full attention, and support.
