"If you have nothing to say, you may leave, mother." The girl suggested. Her tone was cold like she had gone through this thousands of times.

Nepella stayed quiet, almost as if she had forgotten what she had come for. Suddenly, she let out a heavy breath.

"Meet me at the entrance of my tent at noon tomorrow." She ordered as she calmly left the tent.

The girl clutched onto the book in her grasp. She didn't say anything again. She thought to herself.

The next day, Nepella's tent at noon.

"You're late." Nepella complained. Her tone sounded emty and emotionless like the fact that she was late didn't mean much to her.

The girl glared at her with a poker face. Does it not matter that I'm late? She thought.

"I know." She mumbled.

"You knew you where late yet you decided to delay by walking instead of running?" Nepella questioned.

The girl flinched. She knew exactly what she was going to say next. There she goes again. She thought.

"You should always be on time. I suggest you never make that kind of mistake again. Do I make myself clear?" She lectured.

As though she was trained for situations like this, the girl answered her. "Yes, Mother."

For as long as she could remember, not one of her memories involving her mother was ever pleasant.

"What are you standing there for? Let us go." She urged.

"Go? Go where?"

"Did I not tell you?"

"No."

"Oh."

She paused for a moment before finally answering. "We're going to visit the Chief."
