Damn Reincarnation : Ashes of Glory

Lionheart City

Lionheart City

Mar 25, 2026

Eugene thought it was far too harsh to treat someone who is not too good at expressing feelings.

"Well, it can't be helped, right?" Eugene thought to himself with a wry smile as he came out of the club room.

‎The view of the festival was so impressive as he was taking each and every step, the view getting farther and farther away. It's not like it was the first time enjoying a festival, but this was something he couldn't comprehend.

‎‎Mer and Ramira were not with him because they had gone to enjoy the festival together. ‎

He Can he see the ceil in the far distance with noir gabella? He didn't know what Ceil was doing with Noir. Gabella, with a twisted expression, approached that direction.

"‎‎what are you doing with noir?" He asked Ceil with a confused expression. ‎‎

Ceil, who was enjoying drinks with Noir with laughter and joy, turned her gaze towards Eugene.

"‎‎Oh? Eugene, when did you come?" Ceil said with a dizzy expression because she was so drunk that she couldn't focus her eyes.

‎Eugene was left extremely shocked; he had never seen Ceil this drunk. As he observed her condition, he turned his gaze towards Noir, who was wearing a seductive black-stripped dress. Well, this was not new; he had already seen her wearing seductive or revealing clothes or sometimes even naked.

"‎"Just thinking about that makes Eugene's face twist with disgust.

" "Oh my! Dear Hamel, did you miss me too much that you came looking for me?" Noir asked with a seductive smile.

"‎"I didn't come looking for you," Eugene replied with a calm expression.

"‎‎Oh, is that so?" Noir said with a sad expression. ‎‎

What is that? Is Noir really sad? Eugene thought to himself maybe he could have offered his thanks to Noir because of Noir's hard work and her Noir Gabella Giant Gabella Corporation; this city was made within only a month. Without Noir, it could have taken several years for the completion of the city. ‎‎

With a wry smile on his face, Eugene approached noir. He sat down on the same seat beside Noir.

‎‎Noir looked at Eugene with extreme shock on her face; she couldn't comprehend how Hamel sat so close to her without even saying anything.

~"‎"Well. . . Hmel. Um," Noir stammered with a response because she didn't know what to say to him.

"Thank you, Noir." Eugene said with a smile on his face.

‎‎Noir was left speechless—thank you? What for? Noir didn't know why Hamel suddenly said her thank you. What was he referring to as thanks?

‎‎So Noir decided to ask with a bewildered expression on her face and turned her gaze towards Hamel, who was waiting for Noir's response calmly.

"‎‎Why are you thanking me, Hamel?" Noir asked with confusion on her face. ‎‎

Noir couldn't help but get a feeling it was first Hamel genuinely offering thanks to her; it was something Noir couldn't get to see no matter how desperately she tried to get Hamel's heart.
Maybe it was a miracle? "Noir," thought to herself with a smirk on her face.

‎‎For the construction of the city and for your assistance, without you it could have taken several years. Eugene said with a low, confident voice it was something that left Eugene also strange. Even his whole life Eugene never appreciated Noir. No matter how many times he got help from Noir, he just insulted her and threw her away. Maybe it was because of lingering feelings I built with Noir.

"Maybe I'm too harsh on her, don't I?" Eugene thought to himself with a guilty expression.

"Oh, really? If you really want to thank me, you should have given me my payment," Noir said with a pout on her face. ‎‎

By Payment? Did she mean that sleepover? No, Eugene can't do that. It's not like Eugene still hates Noir simply because they are not that close to sleep together.

Well, on any regular day, Eugene would just get angry or disgusted with noir inappropriate demands, but now he was calm. Eugene himself didn't know how he was calm. ‎‎

So he decided to gather up his courage to look at her. ‎‎

Just by looking at Noir, he got a glimpse of Noir's beauty. He had already seen Noir many times, but why was Noir looking extremely pretty? Maybe she was looking too human now or maybe because her horns or wings had disappeared, but it's not like she was ugly when she had wings and horns. What is Eugene thinking right now? Eugene was left thoughtless for a moment.

‎‎If Mer and Raimira were with him right now, they definitely would have said some shocking words at this unexpected thought.

‎‎Eugene was greatly pleased because they are not with him right now. ‎‎Well, noir, you know, we're not that close to do that, right? "You also know that," Eugene said with a stammered voice.

‎‎Noir, who was smiling mischievously on her face, maybe teased Hamel too much because Hamel was really thinking of doing that; she was not disappointed by Eugene's rejection; instead, she was greatly pleased by this unexpected moment.

"‎"What are you saying, Hamel? I'm just teasing you. That time, well, when did you take my blabbering words seriously?" Noir said with a smile on her face.

‎‎"Oh! "Then okay, bye," Eugene said to Noir as he was taking a stand from his seat to go outside before he moved. Someone grabbed his wrist from beyond. ‎‎

Eugene looked over his shoulder with a twisted expression. Who dared to touch his wrist? As he looked beyond, he saw Noir with a sad smile on her face. Just by looking, Eugene knew that there was something Noir wanted to say, but what? He didn't know; he couldn't even guess because it was difficult to understand her.

"Hamel, do you still hate me? "Noir," said with a sad expression on her face. ‎‎

For a moment Eugene was left 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴. 𝘏𝘢𝘵𝘦? No, Eugene doesn't hate her, right? Why could he hate her after how much she had done for him?

‎‎So Eugene just simply shook his face and said, "What are you saying, Noir? I don't hate you. Why could I hate you?"

" Hm—Noir thought for a moment, and after she took Eugene too close, it was something Noir wanted to do; she didn't care if Hamel threw her away right now or got angry and shouted at her. But nothing happened with what she was thinking; instead, Eugene just got shocked looking in his eyes, which were shining so brightly it looked like two rare jewels of gold.

"Really, Hamel? "Do you still not hate me? Look into my eyes. Answer me honestly," Noir asked again.

‎‎Eugene didn't know what was happening or why Noir was doing this; he already said to her that he didn't hate her. Maybe Noir didn't trust my words, or she thought I lied to her, or I just didn't give a definitive answer to her?

‎‎With a long sigh, Eugene looked into Noir's eyes. Those eyes were only for an accurate reply, not a lie or self-made truth. Just by looking into those gorgeous purple eyes, whenever they blink, it casts a beautiful effect. ‎‎

Eugene knew he couldn't lie, nor did he want to say the cruel truth because it would hurt her more.

‎‎Eugene hesitated for a moment before replying, "Noir, I didn't know what I should say; it's not like I hate you or I like you. But I say one thing for now: it's uncertain what to draw any conclusion from.

‎‎Eugene expected Noir to get disappointed or displeased by this response, but Noir only pulled him into a hug. Eugene was altered by Noir's sudden response. He could have immediately shaken her away like always, but he couldn't. But he expected crowds of people in this bar, but there was no one? Maybe Noir and Ceil were talking about something important; that's why they made this bar private. What they were talking about, he didn't know, nor did he want to know because it was not something important for him.

"‎‎Hamel I will not ask for your sympathy. I know I committed several crimes, killed many people, and took the life force of humans to gather power to become strong, and in the end I also became an evil god. Even in my previous life as a twilight witch and your saint at that time, I did the same thing as well. You first took me as your prisoner and made me your saint, harboring feelings despite having hate and love for each other. I changed at that time because I met you, loved you, ate with you, and bathed & slept together with you. Even an evil person changed when I met with you first. In the end, we even died together. At first I didn't know I'd get reincarnated because I know I need to pay for my crimes in the afterlife. How should I get reincarnated?"

Eugene didn't say a thing. What Noir was saying was true, but why was she adding Aria's feelings as well? Eugene already tried so desperately to deny Agorath's feelings; no matter how hard he tried to deny them, he came to a realization: if Agorath didn't exist, how could Eugene exist in the first place? So he simply just accepted that. And he allowed Noir to continue because he also wanted to listen to her words.

‎‎At first I thought it was fate that I met with you again, but after I got to understand it was not just fate that bonded us together; it was a worse karmic link that bonded us together not as lovers or friends but destined to become enemies where neither you nor I have any choice but to try and kill each other. In the past you asked me if there is no other way apart from becoming enemies, right?

‎‎Eugene thought to himself for a moment; he definitely asked her that time when he visited Giaballa City to confirm identity and her very existence. ‎‎

That time?

‎‎Noir simply just said - 𝘯𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘶𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘥.

‎‎𝘌𝘶𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘪𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘯𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥.

But Eugene wants to know now why Noir wants to become his enemy despite multiple times he told her he doesn't want to treat Noir as an enemy, not because she was more powerful than him that time but because Eugene thought when Noir gets to recall her previous life memories, there is no need to become enemies.

‎‎As Eugene looks at Noir, who was biting her lips too hard with a trembling, tearful expression as blood comes out from her lips, maybe the doll body is not just a doll but an actual act, like a living body.

‎‎"There is. . . A truth I wanted to say to you now, but I don't know how you take that truth; maybe you just take that just as a lie. May I say to you? Because this is something needed to be told, and there is no need for me to hide much longer now because everything is over. The demon king of destruction is dead now, and the world has become peaceful as we both dreamed for. " Noir said, with a sad expression.

 ‎‎𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘵𝘩?

What kind of truth? Eugene turned serious now before he knew Noir just only expressed her feelings or she wanted to know how I felt about her, but now she even mentioned the demon king of destruction or said something important? Eugene immediately pressured his gaze to let her continue her explanation. ‎‎

Eugene already knew noir fate was worse because he already got to know Sage or even God of Light's words. What had they said about their bond of fate?

‎‎Sage had said, 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘤 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘶𝘭. .

‎‎𝘈𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 - 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘦.

By saying those from those two ancient gods? Eugene didn't know why pitiful or twisted fate of her and him. ‎‎

With a long breath, Noir controlled her emotion and continued her explanation—

‎"It's true that I want to die at your hand because you are the only one who can end my life. Why do I desperately want death? I also don't know why at first I thought it was twisted love for you, but when I got my previous life memories, I came to an understanding why I was destined to die at your hands. That time I wanted to say there is no need for us to become enemies any longer, but I also learned about the brutal truth, and I couldn't even say it to you. Desperately I wanted to say it to you, but I couldn't..." Noir said with a guilty expression.

"‎Why couldn't you say to me it's that truth that's so brutal that you can't even say it?" Eugene said with a serious expression. ‎‎

Noir shook her head and said, "It's not just only brutal but also worse. Maybe after this, saying this left you broken, or maybe you hate me much more now.

‎‎During this whole conversation, Eugene couldn't help but get an ominous feeling about what Noir was going to say. Now it's far too important to know more; he listens more. He also gets scared, but for what? He doesn't know.

"‎‎It's because of the divine promise of eternal truth that the Goddess of Fate made with me in my previous life; because of that, I can't tell you the truth. If I tried to tell you the truth, my soul could just disappear that time, and not just my soul, but yours also," Noir said apathetically. ‎‎

"Divine promise of eternal truth? 𝘎𝘰𝘥𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘦? 𝘏𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘨𝘰𝘥𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 ( 𝘎𝘪𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘵𝘩) 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘦?" Eugene asked doubtfully.

"Hamel, do you remember what the demon king of incarceration said? He repeatedly created the world lines to ensure the world never gets destroyed. " Noir asked Eugene. ‎‎

Eugene just nodded his head with a calm expression. ‎‎

"Hamel maybe thought about why I, Noir Gia balla, who you know in our ancient time as well, reincarnated as demon folk or why we're destined to become enemies, right?" Noir said with a wry expression. ‎‎

It was exactly what Eugene thought to himself multiple times: Why did Noir Gia balla reincarnate as demon folk? Why was he destined to become enemies? Now he's getting the answer that he desperately wanted to know to that unresolved question.
