Skully, who was now back in Ellie's body, gave Leon a hard whack right in the face, "Leave Ellie alone, you dummy," he yelled out in Ellie's melodic voice which could never sound angry, even if she tried.
Leon stepped back, something was different about her. Why was she now referring to herself in third person? He noticed the lanterns flickering, darkening. Leon shook his head and glanced around, suddenly discovering the red haired hunter that he had been looking for was also there.
"You." Leon's voice trembled as he glared at Luke. The caws of the crows felt like daggers in the dark.
Skully turned and saw the red hair, who was he? There was something so bright about him, like a star twinkling in the now dark street. "Who?" He muttered in Ellie's voice.
Luke clicked his tongue and stared back at Leon. "You were looking for me right? I wonder who's hunting who here, vampire? I will take every pleasure in killing you."
Sigrid placed herself between Leon and Luke, taking out a long twisted knife from her boot. Her gaze was cold and unwavering, protecting Leon was her job after all. No. It was more than a job. It was her life mission right now.
"Hunter?" Skully questioned, eyes shifting between all of them. What had Ellie gotten herself into now?
"Yes. He's a hunter, a cold blooded killer who left behind a pile of dust and a spirit in my club the other day," Leon hissed, anger building up within him, and that meant he might do something he would regret later. He still couldn't fully control it, those powers that made spirits haunt him the moment he stepped outside V.
"Let's not waste any time," Luke said monotonously, a silver rifle hanging over his shoulder and a sword in his hand.
He charged at Sigrid without a second thought, the sword swinging elegantly toward her. She leaped back, avoiding every swing, any attempt at hitting her was quite futile. Luke's eyes darkened, words in ancient Lore flowing out between his lips.
Skully watched in awe and amazement. There was something so familiar about the words, the magic, the movements. He wasn't sure if he should do anything. Leon had after all, put his hands on Ellie, and he did not approve of that. But at the same time he knew that Ellie would want him to do something to help Leon.
"Fudge. This is a pickle," Skully grunted. "Leon? I think we could take him if we worked together…"
"Nope. No. I'm not doing anything with you." Leon hissed, watching Sigrid and Luke fighting, or rather, avoid each other. Anything was better than the dark spirits behind Ellie, who all kept trying to get his attention.
Luke finished his whispers of magic, sending Sigrid flying across the street into the brick wall. His face unchanged as he now stared at Leon. "You should get out of here, away from these vampires," he said to Ellie.
"Fudge that. I'm not going anywhere." Skully kept staring at Luke, mesmerised by how red his hair was, and how golden his eyes were. "What's your name? And how do I get you stop trying kill this guy?"
Luke narrowed his eyes and stared at Ellie. "He's a vampire. They all deserve nothing but death," he snarled, voice full of hate.
Leon sighed, annoyingly this hunter was quite strong, and he was not much of a fighter. He glanced over at Sigrid who lay passed out on the street before turning to Luke, "What a nuisance you are. I am just peacefully minding MY own business and you dare come into MY club and kill a vampire?" He felt the anger take hold, blood rising inside of him.
Skully clenched his teeth together before jumping into the fray of it all, placing himself in front of Luke. He didn't mind staring into those eyes, however dark with magic they were, it made him feel like he was himself again, even if he was in Ellie's body. "You still didn't tell me your name," Skully said with a grin.
Luke glared at him, "What? It's irrelevant right now… I need to kill these vampires."
Skully shrugged. "They won't go anywhere… I'm simply asking your name. Please?" He took a step closer, distracted for a moment by the caws of the crows above, what were they on about?
Luke clicked his tongue, "It's Luke. Now will you get out of here?" His expression was unchanged, cold.
"Luke? Seems to not suit you at all. You had a different name once…" Skully let slip, something tugged at him from the inside, a feeling long forgotten. Did he want to remember?
"I've always been Luke. What the heck are you on about?" Luke stopped and looked at Ellie, bewildered and distracted by the strange claims.
Leon's eyes glowed with anger in that moment, seeing a chance, he lunged at Luke. What use were powers if he was not to use them at the right time? Luke felt something grab his arms and legs, unseen hands, spirits he couldn't touch. They made him fall over with a thud, his sword falling away on the dark street.
"I told you not to mess with me…" Leon snarled, staring down at Luke before picking up the sword. "Now, which leg should I take first?"
Luke whispered words in ancient Lore, quickly silenced by spirit hands. His eyes widening, despaired he tried to squirm free. Leon walked closer, a menacing grin forming on his face as he raised the sword.
"Fudge this." Skully abruptly grabbed Leon's arm before he could do anything with the sword, and flung him hard into the street right next to Luke. The impact was powerful enough to make the cobblestone crack and break beneath Leon. Skully grabbed the sword right out of Leon's hand, pointing it at his neck. "Try that again and I'll end you." He stared down at Leon with a deathly gaze, eyes looking more green than blue.
Leon groaned in pain. "Fine. Fine. I will go if he goes."
Skully stared at Luke, offering a hand to help him get up "You should go..."
Luke reluctantly grabbed Ellie's hand and scrambled to his feet, his eyes meeting hers, or rather Skully's green eyes. He had wanted to kill both the vampires, but of course he could wait. This was not his plan anyway. Far from it.
"This person…" A whisper only Luke could hear, "Not now."
Luke clicked his tongue. "Give me back my sword and I'll go."
Skully nodded and gave the sword back. "Here you go, Luke. I hope to see you again. Maybe lunch someday?" He said with a grin.
"You wish." Luke walked away from them, not looking back. What was with her? Lunch? Who did she think she was? With that kind of strength she was not human, that much was certain. Demon perhaps? He clenched his left fist and kept walking. It didn't matter. He was far too annoyed by her.
"That worked out great," Skully remarked and glared at Leon. Why did the street seem even darker? Oh. He was going back in the skull, wasn't he? He noticed Ellie's backpack and his skull on the ground, did the strap tear?
Ellie fell face down into the street. Leon stared at her, then his eyes went to the skull on the ground. The voice earlier had said it was the skull. His eyes widened as he saw it, the dark spirits were all behind the skull, not her. Indeed, it had been a misunderstanding.
"How foolish," he muttered to himself.
Sigrid let out a grunt as she got up, holding her head, "Sir? Did I fail you?"
Leon's anger had all but passed, he flung his hair back and exhaled deeply. "No. You didn't. I failed you with my foolish behaviour. What was I thinking? Why didn't you tell me what a fool I was?"
"You are not a fool, sir. Never," Sigrid sighed and glanced down at Ellie. "What about her, sir?"
"She's alright. It's that thing over there which is not alright." He pointed to the skull. "I might have been sorely mistaken about this sweet young girl. I hope Oleander will forgive my mistakes…"
"Shall I get rid of the skull, sir?" Sigrid picked it up.
Leon shook his head. "No. But you take it for now, take it to your place for the time being. I shall take this poor creature back to the club and call Oleander to pick her up. I think the skull was possessing her body just now. I wonder if she knows?" He questioned as he gently picked her up. "Now get that skull away from me. I can't handle all those horrid, gloomy spirits that come with it." He gestured dramatically toward the other end of the street.
Sigrid nodded and walked the opposite way. Her place was in old Dawn after all. Leon found the car and placed Ellie carefully in the backseat before getting into the driver seat. Without Sigrid he had to drive the car himself, and he was known to drive a little too fast.
"Perhaps I'll go slowly, just this once," he muttered and glanced back at Ellie. He knew that Oleander would probably never talk to him again if something were to happen to her. Oleander had already cut off one side of his family.
