It was sunny morning, al though in hell is more like a bright reddish morning. Orange maybe? Drake sat at the dining table enjoying his coffee when Violet danced next to him with a hand on a plate.
Violet, feeling proud of her self
“You’re about the witness the breakfast made by Violent Witch. Be prepared to be amazed by my master craft.”
But when she lifts the lid it was the most grotesque thing he’d ever seen, eggs were green, bacon burnt, everything mushed together and a tentacle was moving inside it.
Drake, unimpressed
“You never learnt how to cook, did you?”
Violet, in a defeated tone
“No, I do not.”.
Drake
“Want me to take over?”
Violet, with her stomach growling
“Yes Please.”
Pouting over he failure, Violet sat at the table while waiting for Drake tp finish cooking. She felt incredible annoyed at how good the smell was.
Violet, a bit hangry
“Is this going to take long?”
Drake, flipping the pancakes in the frying pan.
“If you’re that impatient you can have the food I’ve been saving in the fridge. It’s a Caesar chicken salad I made a few days ago it should still be good. I can cook breakfast for myself.”
Violet
“Fine.”
And so she did. She opened the fridge. Took out the box with salad. Opened the lid, grabbed a fork and took the first bite. But something was strange. She was half expecting to find something to criticise, but when that mixture of chicken, lettuce, tomato, bacon and croutons dipped in lemon Greek yoghurt enter he her mouth. Her eyes sparkled and was completely overwhelmed with how good it was that she dug into it like she hadn’t eaten in weeks. Before Drake put his breakfast on the table he already noticed her plate was clean empty.
Violet, licking her fingers
“That was the best salad I’ve ever had. How did you manage to make something like that?”
Drake, smirking a bit
“Years of practice, experimented with all sorts of meals that I needed for my training ever since I came to hell.”
He started digging to his eggs and bacon as he continued
“Of course, things were hectic when I...... “
Violet
“Yeah I don’t really care. After coffee lets talk about how we’re going to pay for this month’s rent.”
Drake, a bit annoyed at the rudeness.
“Already got the papers. We just need to search the job sections.”
Violet, raised an eyebrow
“Newspaper? As opposed to social media? How old are you? A hundred?”
Drake
“How old are you? Twelve? Newspapers have less distractions and we can’t afford them right now. Let’s see. We should probably pick something simple. Something we won’t fuck up on the first day of work.”
Violet
“Oh please, between a green brute and the most famous, elegant, beautiful, lustrous witch of all of hell, what job can’t we handle?”
Drake did not need to roll his eyes for that comment. All he could do was sink into reading the paper. And so their job hopping began. Every time he would see a new vacancy or odd job. He would circle it with a pen and they would be off to earn their keep for the month.
First job, dog walking
The job is simple, they would walk the dogs in the day and be compensated for it. Either dogs from old married couples, an old lady, a dog lover man and whatever. Seems like a walk in the park and that can be said literally. Drake was not thrilled but Violet had full confidence. However the dogs in hell were not the same as they were in the living world and were much, much larger.
Drake tried walking five to 15 dogs and once. And all the hell dogs not only looked like they were cursed but were also large enough to hunt even the deadliest predators. With their high energy and large statures, the 15 dogs on the lead Drake was holding had enough resistance and strength together that once they were all running practically dragged Drake along the park like he was a kite.
Violet laughed so hard until a client approached her and asked her to walk his dog which was the size of a bus. She hesitated to grab the lead but the giant dog took one turn around as soon as it saw a squirrel and suddenly the dogs head pulled the lead and Violet was thrown off the ground and catapulted into a billboard.
Job 2, Room Attendants
Drake and Violet would go to hotel rooms to simply clean up after guest in the hotel. Oddly though there were not guest to enter but Lucy Nightstar was keen on hiring them even though Drake found her laugh a bit unsettling when they shook hands.
Violet would fold the sheets and fluff the pillows. Suddenly she notices Drake not only doing his job like she is. But that he was flexing his Pecks to flirt with some of the female room attendants as they giggled cute like. So she decided to cast a little spell on Drake that would make him vomit uncontrollably like a human fire hose. However instead of vomit it became a stream of fire that burned the hotel to the ground.
Needless to say not only were they fired, but continued to bicker as to whose fault it was as they shouted at each other on the side walk in front of the hotel as it was set a blaze.
Job 3, social media
Violet had a knack for flaunting herself for admiration due to her natural beauty. She would hope to use her body and post pictures of herself in sexy dynamic poses hoping to get some of those luscious admirers to fork over some cash in exchange for more seductive content. It would have worked until she started receiving messages of he followers and commenter's asking for pictures of her feet. And there were a lot of them. And some were asking for things that should not have been allowed to be ready on the platform.
Violet had her face frozen in disbelief and was so traumatized by those comments she ended up turning off her phone, placing it on the table of the kitchen and smashed it with a mallet.
Job 4, taxi driving
For some bizarre reason, Drake let Violet handle the wheel in taking a client to his destination. Little did he know that Violet knew just about less as to how to actually drive the thing. Every time her hand was on the wheel they both felt like they were on bumper cars if the bumper cars were alive and were all high on cocaine.
It wasn't not long before she ended up smashing the car straight to a wall, squishing like a beer can. The air bags exploded and filled their faces, probably for the best cause they did not want to see the clients reaction.
Job 5, Dancer
Violet and Drake were at backstage. They did rock paper scissors to see who’d go on stage. Violet’s rock beat Drake’s scissor so he lost. Reluctantly, he stepped on stage and ripped off all his clothes leaving only the thing he had to wear for the dance.
He spent the time swinging his hips and gyrating his Elvis to try to get as many of the audience to toss their coin. But he could only make a few bucks of cash.
Job 6, construction
Working on the buildings were simple enough. All they had to do was move some stuff like blocks and concrete and hammer some things like walls and bolts. With violet’s magic, she was able to quickly build what she was asked to in a shirt amount of time. Made a punch of purple hands to move blocks and crates while she was sun bathing.
Drake on the other hand placed one nail on wall, picked up a hammer, slammed it with as little force as he could but his strength was too much and the entire building the crew had worked on went crashing down. They were not pleased
Job 7, Soccer coach
Their job was to simply coach some of the kids in hell how to play their soccer game. They had their track suits, whistles and tanks tops and had their feet touching the green grass beneath them which was weird that out of all the things in hell that was different compared to the living world. The grass was the one thing that was the same colour.
The kids lined up and Drake smiled as he tossed the ball to them. After a few minutes, both Drake and Violet were practically being bombarded with a barrage of soccer balls with enough force to nearly break their bones.
Break from job hunting
The two decided to spend the day just shopping. Mostly Violet. As she dragged Drake so that she could try as many outfits as she could. When she tried to purchase them at the counter the card had been declined. So they decided to rob the place and Violet blew a hole in the wall. Drake carried the clothes on his back that was the size of van while Violet was on top of it enjoying the ride.
Hours later, they continued their stroll. The two looked through a restaurant window and saw all the amazing meals they wish they could have. Both of their stomachs rumbling and noticed the large mount of people walking by. After losing rock paper scissors again, Drake would be the one to dance on the street tap dancing while Violet would use her hat to collect the coins. However they only made a few loose change.
Job 8, Barista
Drake and Violet sat side by side on the counter dressed in god awful cafe uniforms as they had no choice but to listen to this customers non stop talking about her order. She would go on and on about the details as to how she wanted her coffee, the amount of vanilla, coco, sugar, cookie cream, Espresso, macchiato, so on and whatever stupid coffee ingredients.
They took one look at each other and both agreed enough was enough so they completely destroyed the cafe and never looked back. The place practically went a blaze and they walked away while fist bumping.
Job 9, car washing
Violet was expecting a huge amount of viewers seeing her wash cars wearing next to nothing as well as a large amount of cash to go with it. But as she slowly wiped the windows and did her sexy poses and splashing herself with the sponge full of water. She would give a nice wink to whoever passed, hoping to get more tips. However to her surprise, the male drivers were paying more attention to Drake’s muscles as he was just washing the cars normally and was being creeped out by some of the drivers as they wouldn’t stop staring at his muscles.
Understandably, Violet was incredibly annoyed, she would squeeze her sponge to the point it would pop like a balloon.
Job 9, Hitmen
The two would hide in the bushes, they were asked to kill someone, they didn’t question the conundrum of the fact that they were already dead but they really needed the fucking cash so they went with it.
In the bushes, Drake popped out and saw his target. He could see the target be just a normal monkey looking guy sipping a late and assumed this would be an easy kill.
Violet handed his the rifle, Drake aimed carefully and with a movement of the finger he fired. However the bullet not only did not hit the target but it ricchochet the pipe. Then the bullet bounced off the pole, then a wall, a car, a billboard until finally the bullet ended up hitting the rifle out of Drake’s hand and flew away.
The two just laid there in frozen faces of how unbelievable that was.
