Some say that Death isn't the end.
That those we love are still around us, or in our hearts- that we keep them alive in our memories.
My eyes flicked down, my perfect black suit sticking to my skin as the dark clouds graced me with their tears. Her face void of the life it once held. The dimples of her smile barely visible through the thick layer of makeup that cluttered her pores.
Words of love and memories were audible through the water dripping down the umbrellas in an endless waterfall. The well practiced words empty of anything those words contained, much like the vessel sleeping in the casket.
My heartbeat felt heavy, a wrecking ball hung off each beat, breaking down the numbness that enveloped my cold skin. Making me painfully aware of the warm blood tickling down my palm from where my nails seemed to forget the existence of flesh.
The trees rustled and danced in the endless breeze that moved through the small crowd of warm bodies dressed in black, carrying the sweet scent of roses from her perfume through the rainy sky.
Only when the unmistakable taste of salt tingled on my tongue did I realize the tears dripping down my face. A sharp breath sucked into my lungs, hitching ever so slightly in my throat while the world wept around me.
My vision blurred, the image of the way her perfect dark brown hair framed her elegant face now forever branded in my memories, while the light on her features slowly got swallowed- the lid of her casket falling into place soon after.
I wanted to scream. I wanted to scream so loud my voice would never return. I wanted to hold her cold, perfect body in my hands and never let go.
Yet I stayed silent. I watched in silence as the casket got lowered down into the ground, my feet rooted to the floor, unable to move.
Alone once again
