LopVampa

Part 2: Back Home

Part 2: Back Home

Apr 18, 2026

Ring, ring, ring, ring.

It's the eleventh hour.

It's the eleventh hour.

All lazy LopVampas still rotting around in their homes, get up! It's time for action!

Work bell ringing up a storm, the bun rubbed his eyes. What time is it again? Wait, hold on, did that say it was the eleventh hour?! How could he sleep this late? What if Kylling was at work already by now? Wait, she's a streamer. She probably just sits around and makes kissy faces at her phone or something. Silly him, what was he thinking?

Slam.

Qiongqi barging in like he owned the place, the bun sighed. Alright, alright, he's getting up. He knows, they're going to ask Kylling for a way to get out of here, he was there at the meeting during the fourth hour! Can Parisa just summon that Hungry Chipmunk bun she keeps mentioning and punish him already? That would be nice right about now! No, no, Siorc, happy thoughts. Why wish that upon someone just trying to help?

"We got in contact with Kylling, and she said she'll help you get outta here, so get out of bed!" Qiongqi cried, hand extended towards him.

Furry palm looking ready to squeeze his into oblivion, the young adult brushed the creature away. Did it look like he needed his assistance? He can get up just fine, thank him very much! Talkmaster B in the palm of his hands, he reached for the knobs. Little faces drawn, he shook the device. Okay, now, that's way too many. Maybe just one will do. Phone scribbled down as well, the bun held in a tired sigh. Please, let this be enough.

[I'm awake. And, I don't need your help, alright? Take me to Kylling.] A crackling voice said through the Talkmaster B's speakers.

"Geez! I just thought you'd still be a bit wobbly from the whole ordeal! What's wrong with a bun extending his paw, huh?" Qiongqi asked, tone slightly annoyed. "Come on, let's go. And, here, take this."

Charred carrot thrown his way, the bun bowed in gratitude. He had golden burned carrots up his sleeve?! On second thought, he'll live here forever. Make him a captive princess, while he's at it. No, no, he has to go home. Think about the chickens! They're probably clucking nonstop right about now! Munching the creature into oblivion, he hopped towards the door. Bidding everyone farewell, Qiongqi soon took the lead.

Guided towards a strange hole off in the distance, the party of two took the hop of faith. Peculiar cave waiting for him, the bun studied the place for a moment. What is this place, some gamer cave? Not that he'd know, though. Lang standing by the front entrance, he swore he could hear her sigh as she locked eyes with him.

"You're the one who called last night?" Lang asked, yawning.

"Not this guy, the white haired guy next to him," Gwendolyn said, pointing.

"I know, that's who I meant," Lang responded crossing her arms. "You want us to get this guy here back home? You realize what you're asking us, don't you?"

"Not you! He means that stupid girlfriend of yours!" Domini cried. "And, if you even dare try and suggest that I can use my mystical powers to get him out of here, drop that idea out of your head right now!"

"I know Kylling has the power to get this guy back to Seeboro," Qiongqi said, pointing. "So bring her out!"

"You're asking for a lot, you know that?" Lang groaned. "You really think she's going to leave her hole?"

"I don't know, tell her she's about to get cancelled, that'll probably do it," Gwendolyn said, shrugging.

Lang stomping off, the farmer blinked. Would asking Kylling to help really do anything? What if Qiongqi was just making assumptions? He probably was. Oh, well, guess he's stuck here forever. Sorry, Strix, Deigr, guess he's never going to return home after all. Think of him whenever they're on the farm. No, no, he'll get back somehow. There has to be a way!

Walls practically shaking as Lang screamed her top off, the bun lowered his ears. Her voice sure carries. Why did the godbuns name her Office Pika for? He didn't know, maybe she was married to her job the day leading up to her naming ceremony. Kylling hopping towards him, he crossed his fingers. Please, let her know how to get him back home.

"Hiya, so, you wanna go back home, huh?" Kylling asked in an oddly cheery tone. "Well, sure, I can help you with that! We kinda owe you anyway for getting us out of the wastelands!" She then turned to her phone making a kissy face. "Chat, you think we got this?"

"Could you please stop addressing your chat for one second?!" Domini cried. "I swear, all you ever think about is your viewers!"

"Sheesh, alright, alright! I'm focused, don't you see?!" Kylling cried. "I can get you home, but only if you gotta phone on you." She shook her own as she said such. "You got one, right? I know Seeboro is like, old fashioned." She then made a kissy face at her own again. "What do you think, chat? You think this old fashioned bag of bones got a phone on him?"

"Kylling, stop!" Gwendolyn cried. "I swear, all she's done since we came out of the wastelands is stream nonstop!"

Phone brought to his attention, the farmer nodded. What did he need to use that for? He was only supposed to use it in case of emergencies. Even mama still only used hers in dire times! Well, maybe he could make an exception just this once. But, what did he need it for? He guessed he was about to find out.

[Yes, I have one on me, but I'm only supposed to use it during emergencies. If you're asking me to join your stream, I won't, sorry!] A crackling voice said through the Talkmaster B's speakers.

"Why would I have you join my stream? You'd tank my numbers in two seconds!" Kylling cried. "I can get you home, but the only way I can is if you gotta phone on you! So, take it out, kay?"

Sifting through his skirt pocket, the bun gazed at the little machine. When was the last thing he used this thing? It had to have been the days leading up to his hundredth birthday, maybe. Did that even count? Probably not. Powering the thing on, he turned towards Kylling. What's she got up her sleeve?

Everyone else turning their phones on as well, the farmer gulped. Wait, hold on, why is everyone taking out theirs, too? Kylling doing a little dance, the young adult gulped. What is this ominous feeling he's getting? No, no, pop that bubble! It's fine, he's being silly, surely this will go well. He needs to believe in her. She knows what she's doing, right? Of course she does. Have more faith.

"You don't all need to take out your phones for this! Put 'em away!" Kylling cried.

"Fine, babe, whatever you say," Lang said, sighing. Beep.

"I was just trying to help?" Gwendolyn groaned. Beep.

"Whatever!" Domini cried. Beep. "It away, happy?"

"Yuppers! Now, listen, here's the deal, I need you to hold your phone above your head for a minute, kay?" Kylling asked. "I'll give you the signal!"

Nodding, the bun placed the device above his head. What is this going to do? Why does he get this feeling any second now, he's going to be a huge magnet? Kylling counting down, he swore he saw her crackle for a second there. Oh, great, here comes the countdown. He's so going to get fried from this.

Countdown getting even slower, something felt off. Is it just him, or had everything froze around him? What's going on? Silhouettes appearing around him, the bun broke into a sweat. Who are these people, and why are they coming towards him like that? Clutching the phone tight, he closed his eyes. It's coming, any second now.

Words flying around Kylling, the countdown reached ten. Should he start counting to one also? Maybe he should. Nine, eight, seven, six? Zap! Ow, what was that just now? Alright, fine, he won't count. Group of silhouettes holding him in place, he prepared himself. Three seconds left, something's coming.

"Kay, it's almost ready!" Kylling cried. "Chat, hold him tight!"

Shadow arms around him, the bun's ears crackled. Wait, what's about to happen? Come on, he has to stay calm. Whatever is about to happen, he needs to prepare himself for anything. Kylling's phone looking about ready to burst, her horns had begun to spark like there was no tomorrow. It's coming, any second now.

"Radio waves, do your thing!" Kylling shouted.

Zap.

Sparks of doom soon surrounding him, the young adult closed his eyes. World around him getting hot, the vampa's head spun. What is this feeling? Is this really going to work? Maybe, he needs to focus. Home sweet home. World around him blurring, nothing remained. Why does he feel like he's floating? Something's not right.

Light coming out of nowhere, the bun blinked. Familiar village locking eyes with him, the farmer's jaw dropped. He's in Seeboro? How did he get here? Kylling next to him, he locked eyes with her horns. Or, was he looking at them? Huh, where did they go? Maybe he was seeing things earlier.

"Kay, you're in Seeboro now!" Kylling cried. "Point me to the direction of your home, and I'll zap you there! What should I explain to your folks?"

[My home is east of here. And, just tell them the truth, they'll understand.] A crackling voice said through the Talkmaster B's speakers.

"Kay, east it is!" Kylling cried, phone held up above her. "Radio waves blast!"

Zap.

Crackling once more, the bun closed his eyes. Not this again! Darkness surrounding him, the bun wobbled as he opened them once more. Familiar abode waiting for him, the farmer puffed a sigh of relief. Home sweet home. Trudging towards the door, Kylling knocked. Creature creaking open, he swore he could see Strix jump back.

"Siorc, yer back from yer job?" Strix asked, his voice then shifted "Woah, yer lookin' pretty wiped out. Let's get ya to yer room." He then turned towards Kylling. "Who are ya? Don't think I've ever seen you around here before."

"Just some streamer, I'm gonna explain what happened to your brother, kay?" Kylling asked.

"Fine by me, yer not a spy or anythin' sent from the capitol, are ya?" Strix asked.

"Chat, can you believe this? She thinks I'm some spy!" Kylling cried into her phone. "Go take care of things, I'll explain everything in a sec."

Guided towards his room, the vampa plopped down onto his bed. What a long week this has been. Can he sleep for the next few days? Closing his eyes, he could feel himself about to drift off any second now. Goodnight, world, don't let the godbuns have any more jobs for him for the next month or so.

Ring, ring, ring, ring.

It's the tenth hour.

It's the tenth hour.

Worktime, worktime! All daytime LopVampas, head to your stations!

Rubbing his eyes, the bun groaned. What time is it? Oh, no! It's the tenth hour already?! How long had he been asleep? Why does he feel like a whole day passed by him? Lifting himself up from the bed, he hopped towards the kitchen. Familiar scent kicking in, tears streamed down his face. Woah, is that what he thinks it is?

Pork cabbage bites waiting for him at the table, the farmer resisted the urge to bawl his eyes out. Woah, are those really being served right now? He's not still dreaming, is he? If he is, don't wake him up! Sparks dancing around his ears, he flinched. Looks like he's awake after all. Seating himself, a teacup had been brought his way.

"I'm glad you're back from Oriza," Deigr said between tea sips. "It sounds like you went through a lot while you were there. So, why don't you take some time off for a bit?"

"Ya think the godbuns gonna let him?" Strix asked. "What if the godbuns are already waitin' outside for him fer his next job?! Oh, lord, bet they've been waiting for him to come out since he came back!"

"I don't think so, don't you think we'd know if one of them stopped by?" Deigr asked.

"I guess yer right," Strix responded, shrugging. "You doin' okay after all that? That Kylling told us ya got yerself into quite a situation while doin' a job in the Sappharicha Bog."

Questions coming his way, the bun stared out the window. Did he look like he had time to take it easy? What about the farm? Weren't Deigr and Strix too busy to look after it? Oh, no, what if the chickens are left this world while he was away?! He can't just sit around and twiddle his thumbs like this! Talkmaster B out and ready, he scribbled away.

[I'm alright now, don't worry. I need to take care of the farm! Don't you two have to leave for work soon?] A crackling voice said through the Talkmaster B's speakers.

"Don't worry about the farm for a bit, we've been taking good care of it," Deigr said, hands in the air. "Zhulong and Niquel are probably getting rid of the vermin right now, too."

[What about the chickens? They're probably about ready to run out of their cages right now!] A crackling voice cried.

"We took care of them, don't worry," Deigr responded, hands out in front of her. "They pecked us a lot while you were gone, but we fed them. We didn't get any eggs, though."

"Why don't ya take it easy fer the next few days in the meantime?" Strix asked. "Seriously, we got errything taken care of while ya were gone, so, don't worry."

Status report coming his way, the bun's ears drooped not a single egg? What's going on lately around here? Maybe he should ask the other farmer buns what's up. Munching on the rest of his pork cabbage bites, he hopped towards the sink. Peeking out the window, the world glowed for a moment. Don't tell him they had a chocobat problem again. Vermin, begone. Exiting the abode, familiar faces waited for him by the picnic table.

"It's been awhile, how are you doing?" Zhulong greeted, eyes sharp. "We have something to share with you, but now might not be the best time, I'd imagine."

"I'd still share it with him just in case," Niquel said, voice serious. "We heard what happened in Mt. Flameachago. Are you okay?"

[I'm doing fine. I met with one of the godbuns, and was able to leave the wastelands.] A crackling voice said through the Talkmaster B's speakers. [What do you two want to talk to me about?]

"Some godbun from the remote village of Stratopia wants to see you," Zhulong said. "Not sure why they want you, but do you want us to go with you? It's probably another job."

Stratopia brought to his attention, the bun tried to remember. Where was that again? Oh, right, it was that strange city above the clouds. What godbun resided there again? Oh, right, Preciobu. The Divine Rabbit of All Things Precious, he believed that was their name. Ugh, what did they want from him? Fire him from being a plaything already!

[It's not like I have a choice in this, do I?] A crackling voice said through the Talkmaster B's speakers. [I'm alright, I can go by myself.] But, as the Talkmaster B said such, he wobbled.

"We're going with you," Niquel said in a stern tone. "You still look pretty tired. Besides, if they're going to ask what I think they're going to ask about, you'll need backup."

[Really, I'm fine. I'll manage on my own.] A crackling voice said through the Talkmaster B's speakers.

"I wouldn't go alone if I were you. Knowing Preciobu, they'll probably work you until you drop," Zhulong said, shaking his head. He then extended his hand. "Come on, let's go. Adventure Bunny should be here any minute now."

Horn honking, the vampa's head spun. Can someone explain what's going on here?
