Before he knew it, it was already Sunday morning. He woke up bright and early at six. Normally he didn’t care all that much about his appearance but because they would be job hunting he figured it would be a good idea to make himself look nicer than usual. 

Satoru grabbed out a black button down and his only pair of dress pants. He also spent more time than usual doing his hair. He was very meticulous, trying to get it to look just about perfect. Once Satoru triple checked that he looked okay, he grabbed his wallet and headed off to the train station. 

Satoru arrived there earlier than the other two. He wasn’t sure what to do while he waited so Satoru decided to kill some time playing on his handheld. 

He had at least a half hour before Hiroto and Kanato were supposed to show up. Though he didn’t have to wait long, since Kanato came earlier than expected.  

“Well well well…I thought I was going to be the first one here but it seems you beat me to it,” Kanato sighed. 

“Yeah whatever. I just didn’t want to stress about being late,” Satoru explained, putting his handheld away. 

“Sure, sure, say whatever you want,” Kanato said, waving his hand dismissively, “you’re sure dressed nice today. I haven’t seen you properly do your hair in ages.” 

Satoru rolled his eyes, “yeah well my sister always told me that if I ever want to get a job I have to look decent first, so I made myself decent.”

“Hey, no need to get so defensive. I like it, you look nice,” Kanato smiled, taking a seat next to Satoru. 

“Well thanks, you look pretty nice yourself. That grey suit looks good on you and your hair looks good down,” Satoru commented. 

“You think so? I think it looks kinda boring,” he said, holding a lock of hair in his hand, examining it.

Satoru nodded, smiling, “yeah, it looks nice,” he reassured.

Not long after, a familiar figure approached them, “oh, I hope I didn’t keep you guys waiting for too long. I tried to get here as quickly as I could,” Hiroto panted, face slightly red.

Satoru shook his head, “no, you’re fine. We just happened to be early.”

“Oh okay. Guess you both are pretty excited,” Hiroto smiled. “Let’s head off then, better to start as early as possible.”

Kanato and Satoru nodded, getting up from the bench before standing at the platform to wait for the train. 

Once they boarded the train Kanato pulled out a map from his bag. 

“Okay I was thinking we’d start here then make our way over to the shopping plaza,” Kanato said, pointing at a specific spot then dragging his finger to the other side of the map. 

“Sounds good to me, I don’t really care where we go,” Satoru said. 

Hiroto nodded, “sounds like a plan to me!”

They arrived at their destination and disembarked from the train and immediately felt overwhelmed. 

“Woah, there’s so much more than I thought. How do we go about this?” Hiroto asked, looking at the street. Eyes combing over multiple stores. 

“Hmm…I mean we can just start at one end and go into stores we find interesting, I guess,” Kanato shrugged.

Both nodded and the group began walking down the streets. They went everywhere from convenience stores, restaurants, book stores and clothing stores. They asked around, giving their resumes to anyone that would take them. 

The three spent the entire day, asking and looking around. By the time they were done it was dark. 

“Well, I think we did pretty good,” Kanato smiled, “though there’s one last place I want to go.”

Satoru raised a brow, “where else do we possibly have to go?”

“You’ll see, just come with me. It’s not too far from here.”

The group made their way to their final destination, a music store in the middle of the city. It didn’t seem to be the most amazing store, in fact it appeared to be rather small. 

“Here we are, I figured we could stop in here to take a look at what sorts of instruments we might want to get. It’s easier to work when you have a clear goal,” Kanato said, walking inside. 

“You have a point there,” Hiroto nodded as he and Satoru followed Kanato inside. 

Despite how small the store was, there was no shortage of things to look at. The inventory was extensive. He almost wasn’t sure where to start, however, lucky for him there was a sign for what each section was, so he walked towards the big bass sign on the wall. 

When Satoru laid eyes on all of the different basses he wasn’t sure where he’d even begin. He didn’t know the first thing about basses and what made one better than another. 

As he was skimming the rows and rows of basses that looked all but identical, minus a couple small details, he saw the bass he wanted. It was bright blue with unique curves, it stood out against the plain black ones he saw. There was no doubt in his mind that he’d take it home with him in a few months.
