COREBREAKER
Episode 9 — Impact
Rain hit Agira’s face the moment he stepped outside.
Cold.
Immediate.
One block down, headlights tore through the downpour.
A truck.
Out of control.
Its tires screamed against the flooded street as it skidded sideways toward the intersection.
And directly in its path—
a girl.
Standing in the crosswalk, eyes locked onto the glowing screen in her hands.
Her fingers moved rapidly across it, completely unaware of the headlights cutting through the rain toward her.
For a fraction of a second—
Agira stopped.
Not because he didn’t want to move.
Because he had seen this before.
And he already knew how it ended.
Then—
the ground beneath him shattered.
BOOM.
Agira vanished forward.
The sound barrier cracked behind him like an explosion, rain bursting outward in violent rings as the street beneath his feet fractured from the force of his launch.
One moment he stood outside the warehouse.
The next—
he was already there.
The world narrowed into motion.
Rain. Light. Screeching metal.
He reached the girl just as the truck slid into the intersection, grabbing her shoulder and throwing her out of the way with overwhelming force.
She slammed against the wall.
Safe.
Agira wasn’t.
Impact.
The collision tore through his side and shoulder, hurling him across the soaked pavement hard enough to crater the street beneath him.
The sound disappeared.
Everything became distant.
Muted.
For a moment—
his body refused to respond.
No strength.
No movement.
Nothing.
And in that silence—
he saw her.
Aria.
Not as a memory.
Not this time.
She knelt where the girl had been standing, looking at him with the same quiet expression she always had.
Gentle.
Knowing.
Her lips moved.
He couldn’t hear the words.
Didn’t need to.
Reckless.
Guilt struck harder than the collision.
He had saved this girl.
But not her.
That truth didn’t change.
It never would.
Something shifted inside him.
Deep.
Violent.
Awake.
Heat surged through his chest.
Not spreading slowly this time—
exploding upward all at once.
The H-Drug—
wasn’t reacting.
It was answering.
