“Well, it’s time to go”.

Right at the entrance of Lilycove City, the road opened, revealing the vast nature of Hoenn. And right there, a young girl stood. Wearing a yellow top with white flowers and Poké Balls, along with a white T-shirt below. Black shorts that matched with a pastel blue skirt which swayed by the wind. Her brown pigtails were tied with small yellow hairbands and fell graciously on her shoulders. A young girl about to go on with her journey: Brenda. Placing her hand on her chest, she could feel her anxious heartbeats, which made her smile nervously.

“Wow, can you believe I’m actually nervous?”, said Brenda with slight surprise.

“It’s normal. You’re about to take the first step of your new adventure”.

Brenda looked back and saw May, back to her sporty outfit, approaching her side. She was right: for Brenda, it actually felt like the beginning of a new adventure, the one she always wanted to live. Upon that realization, the world she once explored felt like a completely different place and she was excited to find out everything that she couldn’t enjoy before. However, what made that beginning more memorable was that May decided to accompany her, although she felt bad for imposing.

“You sure you wanna tag along? What about your research and Contests?”, asked Brenda.

“Nah, don’t worry. I needed a break. And it will be the first time we actually travel together, I’m looking forward to it!”, explained May. “Also, I want to be there for you…”.

Noticing the softness in her voice, Brenda looked at May. For a moment, her friend didn’t notice, but after a while, her face turned bright red and began mumbling:

“I mean, you know! You still gotta learn lots of girl things! Self-caring, bathrooms…”, began saying May. “I’d feel more comfortable being by your side and helping you!”.

Brenda didn’t understand why May was so nervous out of a sudden, since it wasn’t the first time she helped her. Maybe she was as nervous as herself about this adventure, which only made her giggle. She wasn’t used to seeing her friend acting so funnily.

“Thanks, May. I couldn’t have asked for a better friend”, said Brenda, which only made May blush even more. Then, she added: “I know!”.

Brenda reached her PokéNav attached to her new skirt and showed it to May.

“Why don’t we take a selfie? You know, a memory of this moment”, suggested Brenda.

Before May could be ready, Brenda approached her and opened her PokéNav. May was nervous, but she was also happy about that moment. Not only for taking a picture along her best friend, but also for seeing Brenda so comfortable with herself to take pictures. One click later, both of them could see the result on the device’s screen. Two girls smiling at the camera, with their eyes shining full of hope and happiness. Something Brenda never believed could happen, but it was real. A memory she would preserve for all her life.

And thus, after a couple of wild days and moments both anxious and wonderful, a young girl began her new journey across the Hoenn region along with her friend. What would await her future? She couldn’t know, but she was finally ready to find out.
