The not-so odd lady: part one

The not-so odd lady: part one

May 10, 2026

Hello, I am Generic Villager One and recently a young woman joined our village and to say the least she’s not odd, like at all. Or at least compared to the young ladies that have visited before. At this point, we have a rule where we follow along with their shenanigans. Now, we’re a small village in the Generic Empire, right on the border to be specific, and for some reason young ladies seem to flock to villages like ours, and most tend to try and hide the fact that they were nobles or super powerful. I really don’t understand it. All these young ladies like to look around for common plants that grow around here. They also seem to believe we have never seen them before and don’t know what they are, but we just play along, they don’t stay for long anyway and the newest one is no different…Ah look at her coming now, hopefully she’ll pass right by me. ”Hellooooo Generic Villager One! What an absolute shock that we would meet like this!” The villager looked toward the young lady that tried far too hard to look like a commoner, giving her a forced smile. “Yes, it’s incredibly good to see you on this fine day, you– Grudia Isella Imogene Langheart. I see you have a basket, may I ask what is in it?” Not like I actually need to tell you, it’s clearly a potato. “Oh this? It’s nothing amazing, just a plant called Proyakarna” Nope, that’s definitely a potato, what the heck is a Proyakarna even supposed to be? “I see, I’ve never even heard of a proyakarna, what can you do with it?” The young lady looked triumphant at Generic Villager One and flipped the strand of hair that rested along her cheek over her shoulder. “It’s a type of plant that can be cooked in various ways and is extremely easy to grow, it’s so incredibly rare to come across but I managed to find a patch of them right over there.” Grudia Isella Imogene Langheart pointed in the general west direction, looking extremely pleased with herself. That absolute idiot, that’s a literal potato it can be found any… Waiiiittttttt that general direction………. Don’t tell me she got it from HER patch… Welp I’m getting out of here. Generic Villager One turned her back as quick as possible and ran off, shouting to the young lady “Hahahhahhahahha, how very interesting, well then Grudia Isella Imogene Langheart, I best be leaving you. Have a wonderful day!” Later on that evening a loud explosion could be heard from the totally house that’s really a mansion that the young lady lives in.

Hello again, Generic Villager One here. It seems it’s my time to shine as the young lady’s only friend in this backwater village, although I really wish she didn’t cry on my freshly clean clothes. The young lady had placed her head on Generic Villager One’s lap, glittery tears and rainbow…what is that? Snot? Dribbled down her face onto the poor villager’s newly clean dress. “I- I- I just don’t understand! Why would she do that to meee? She is such– such– such a villain.” The young lady looked up at the villager expectantly. I really don’t know what you want me to say, you literally stole the potatoes that HER took care of so carefully for the past four months. “I see, it seems there was some kind of miscommunication between the tw-” The young lady interrupted “NO! IT WASN’T MY FAULT! SHE WAS THE ONE THAT DECIDED TO EXPLODE MY MAN– HOUSE FOR NO REASON! I ONLY WANTED TO SELL HER THE PROYAKARNA I FOUND!” Wait wait wait wait. She tried to sell HER potatoes back to her??????? What on htrae… we’ve had some odd ones come here every now and then but never did one steal someone's belongings and try to sell it back to the actual owner. “I see… how… absolutely… terrible… for… you. You…worked…so…hard…to…find…those…precious…proyakarna.” The young lady snapped her head up, her crying stopped, she glared into the poor villager’s eyes and squinted. “You’re not…lying or pretending…are you?” What the actual f– why on htrae do I have to get the clearly insane one? “Of course not, who on htrae would ever lie to you? You’re ever so perfect and insanely smart? I mean who would have thought that po–proyakarna would be edible?” “hhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmm…I see.” The young lady instantly returned back to her sobbing. The glittery tears and rainbow snot (?) returned. “I mean that plant can change everything! You people won’t have to starve anymore if that woman would just agree to buy, sell and grow them and let me take all the credit and money for it! I mean it’s an amazing deal! She does all the work and I get all the credit and profits– that’s the best outcome! Don’t you agree?” Is this B– kidding me right now? What on htrae is she talking about? Not only about her taking all the credit for something that is very well known, but about the fact that we starve???? My daze- I have the crazy one. ”That is such a… wonderful idea! I don’t know why anyone would ever deny such a ludicrously perfect idea! Us starving peasants wouldn’t know what to do if it weren’t for you, Grudia Isella Imogene Langheart!” Why the actual f– do I have to agree with this woman? I mean who made this stupid rule about going along with these women's delusions? I curse them all! ”Oh we are far too close for you to call me by all my first names, you can just call me perfect Grudipie, like my–” Let me guess… ex fiancee? “Father!” Ahem… Fa-fa-father? Your father called…You know what, why am I even surprised… not like that’s the weirdest thing I’ve heard come out of one of your kind’s mouth… let’s just ignore it. ”I see what a…wonderful nickname. Perhaps it may be better for me to refer to you as just Grudia, since that… accurs- I mean beautiful nickname is clearly reserved for you and your father.” The young lady hesitated… clearly thinking hard about the suggestion. God’s do you want to think harder, I can literally hear cogs grinding in your head. ”Ok, BUT you HAVE to call me perfect at least twice an hour, I’ll know if you don’t, even if I’m not around.” The young lady’s eyes had something twisted and dark in them. Okkkkkkaaaayyyyyyyy, this is certainly not concerning or anything. I am fine and this is fine. Everything is fine. ”Of course, that’s not too difficult.” The young lady instantly sat up and stretched her arms ”Well this was a wonderful chat… Oh yeah, one more thing. I need to give you a name!” Ah what now? I know we all are called Generic Villager or something similar which is then followed by a number but like come on? It’s still our name! ”Your name is going to be… Grudie Istell Imodene Longheart or for short Not-so-perfect Grudipie. Ah yes an absolute perfect name if I say so myself.” Ah what. HOW is that a perfect name? And WHY would you give a virtual stranger a name? I give up with this girl. The young lady stood up and rushed out calling over to the poor villager girl ”I’ll be back! Don’t miss meeeeeeee!” I most certainly won’t. God, I need a drink.

Hello once again everyone. A new day has arisen and it’s absolutely perfect. The sun is out, the weather is warm, and best of all that woman is nowhere to be– ”HEELOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT SO PERFECT GRUDIPIE!” Ah sh– “How nice to see you out on this ever so perfect day my one and only friend as of this moment!” Oh gods what is she planning now? What is in that basket of her’s today? “Hello Perfect Grudia, what have you got in your basket?” The lady’s eyes opened wide, a wider smile spread across her face, she stared at the poor girl unblinking. ”Oh just some blood, nothing interesting or anything.” What.The.F– ”Do you want to see?” Why would I want to see blood? “I know you’ve never seen blood before. I mean humans bleed but you people aren’t exactly human.” I knew she was classist but I didn’t realise she thought of us as something other than human. ”Look at the basket, you’re going to love it!” The young lady held the basket out, lifting the cover off of it. The girl hesitantly looked into it, bracing herself. Inside the basket wasn’t blood, but instead……carrots. Carrots. She called carrots…blood… carrots…does she…nevermind. ”Ah, I have totally never seen carr–blood before. This is new to me. I mean, I have clearly been wrong my whole life.” The young lady looked at the girl confused ”What did you think blood was? There’s literally nothing else it could be. You’re weird but that’s what’s great about you.” The girl paused and stared at the young lady. ”Hold on, give me a second.” The girl walked back to her house and grabbed a knife then marched back to the lady. Grudia looked at the knife “What? Do you think that Pollyoka is blood?” The girl pricked her finger with the knife, drops of blood started to rise through her skin. “This is blood.” The young lady looked on once again in confusion. ”What is that? That is one hundred percent not blood and that shouldn’t be coming out of your body. I think you need a doctor.” ………..Now I want to know her anatomy. Or maybe she’s the one that needs a doctor. “Question, perfect Grudia…When you cut yourself what comes out of the wound?” The lady took the knife out of the girl’s hand. “This.” She pricked her finger with the knife and as she did a blinding light hit the girl’s eyes, leaving her stunned for a moment but just as quickly as it appeared the light disappeared and now all that was left was lots of puppy faces. After seeing this, the girl simply left. No words traded, no goodbyes, just a silent walk. The lady looked on, “But…but what about the blood?”
