Melissa awakened by the sound of bird chirping. She stood from her bed and quickly examined the locket, hoping to see it shine brightly again, but nothing happen. She heard knocking on her door.
"Melissa, breakfast is ready," Ramius said.
"Okay.." she replied.
She hid the locket inside the compartment under her bed.
Melissa took a bath and change into her school uniform. She head downstairs and to the dining room; everyone already eating. She took a seat and also eating.

After receiving her lunch bag from Ramius, she thanked her, and head to her school. As always, she took the shortcut through the abandoned monorail station.
Usually the place was empty, but today, there were people there. They were arguing about something. One of them noticed Melissa and glare at her.
Terrified, she quickly ran past them.
Arriving at her school, Melissa went to her class and sat beside Olivia.
"Are you alright?" She asked
"Yeah, it's nothing." Melissa wiped her face.
"You sure?" Olivia looked at her, concerned.
Melissa told her about the locket. The two boys, Alphonse and Ron who sat in front of them turned around.
"What are you talking about?" asked Rob.
'A glowing locket?" Alphonse intrigued.
A girl named Hannah also overheard their conversation.
"Can we see it?" asked Rob.
"Please.." said Alphonse.
"I don't bring it with me.." said Melissa.
"Tonight, meet us at the park."
Melissa was reluctant but both of them insisted. She finally relented and agreed to meet them there: Olivia and Hannah also decided to join.
The classroom door opened, and miss Freyr entered the room. She began the class attendance before starting her lesson about the Regalian Alchemy.
Melissa however was preoccupied by the thought of the locket and wasn't listening.

When the school ended, she went to the teacher room, hoping to talk with professor Moloch about the locket, but he's not there.
Miss Freyr asked "do you need something?"
"I am looking for professor moloch."
"Moloch?" asked Miss Freyr. "He must be at his manor because he didn't have any class today."
"Thank you, miss Freyr." Melissa left the teacher room, disappointed.

On the way home, she decided not to used the shortcut, scared of meeting those people again.
There were crowd in front of her home. The guardian corps were there, talking to lady Cervantes. Ramius saw Melissa and quickly approached her.
"What happened?" she asked.
"Your room-" said Ramius "someone broke into your room."
"My room? Why?"
Ramius shook her head, "They ransack your room. It seems they were looking for something."
Melissa followed Ramius to her room. Her room was a mess, everything were thrown out. Melissa quickly checked the locket and find it still there.
"What is that?" Ramius asked.
"Uh.. It's my mother's" she lied.
"May i see it?"
Melissa nodded and give her the locket.
Ramius examined it, "it's beautiful.." she said.
She heard footsteps, and saw Lady Cervantes standing at the door, staring at them with her bright yellow eyes. Unlike Ramius' warm stares, Melissa always unsettled with lady Cervantes, her eyes were cold.
"May i see that, child?" she asked.
Ramius looked at Melissa before giving it to lady Cervantes. However, when the locket touched her hand, it started shining. She screamed loudly as the locket burn her hand.
Ramius panicked and quickly ushered lady Cervantes downstairs.
Melissa was perplexed; she took the locket on the ground. It shone brightly again, then someone was telling her to run.
Melissa looking around, the voice told her to run again. Terrified, she changed her clothes, pocketing the locket, and sneaked outside. She heard Lady Cervantes told the guards to get her.

Didn't know where to go, Melissa decided to hide in the park. The place was still packed despite it already dark.
"Hey, there she is!" said someone.
Melissa startled; It's her classmates.
"Lissa!" Olivia waved.
Oh.. she forgot about the promise.
Her classmates approached her.
"Why are you looking so grim?" Olivia asked.
"Where is it?" said Rob. "Where the magic locket."
"I don't think-"
"Don't say you forget," Alphonse crossed his arms.
"It's just-"
"Oh, come on! Don't be stingy."
Melissa handed him the locket: it's not glowing.
Rob tried opening it but it won't budge.
"I want to see," said Alphonse.
Rob passed the locket to him.
"Boring, you said it glow?"
"I don't know.." said Melissa.
Hannah took the locket, but she quickly dropped it, clutching her hand in pain.
"Are you alright?" Olivia checked Hannah's hand.
"How is it possible?" Rob said seeing Hannah's hand burnt really badly.
Melissa grabbed the locket from the ground.
"Run.." she heard the same voice.
"What is that?" Rob's eyes widen.
Strange symbol appeared on Hannah's arm. The voice once again telling her to run, then the locket began to glow.
"Hand over the locket!" yelled someone. They were the strange people at the monorail station.
They approached them and again, demanding to give them the locket.
"Back off, old man!" Rob yelled.
"Hey! Look! Her arm!" one of them pointed at Hannah.
"Shit! She's a familiar!"
"What are they talking about?" Alphonse muttered.
"A familiar?"
A swooping wind followed by a muffled scream.
"Alph?" Rob looked around.
"Where is he?" Olivia panicked.
"Its them!" the strange people looked up.
Melissa heard flapping noise from above them. She looked up, they are! Those were the flying shadows who took her parents.
"Move!" the stranger pushed Melissa to get away, but he was quickly taken by the shadow.
"Smith!"
"We have to go!" said the other stranger.
More of those flying shadows appeared. They attacked everyone there.
"Rob!" Olivia wailed, seeing him taken by the flying shadow.
One of the stranger grabbed Melissa and carried her. "Split up!"
His remaining companion nodded. "See you at the station!" before leaving the park.
"Liv!" Melissa called.
"Shut up!" he yelled.
"Please! My friend-" she saw Olivia among the panicked people.
The stranger grunted, he ran towards Olivia and pulled her hand. They fled the park.

They were able to elude the flying shadows, and arrived at the abandoned monorail station.
"I want to go home.." Olivia whimpered.
The stranger sighed loudly. "Be my guess, if you want to die."
"Those flying shadows.." Melissa said, "How could they get here, i thought-"
"Those are not shadows, they are regalian."
"They- regalian?" Melissa gasped.
"Impossible," Olivia shocked.
"But- they are good people.. my caretaker and teachers-"
"Believe all you want," he yelled. "Now, where is it! Where's the locket!"
Melissa took out the locket. "What do you want with it?"
He snatched it. "Where you get this!?"
"I-" she trembled.
"Tell me!"
"My savior.. he dropped it.."
"Orange eyes! Does he has bright orange eyes?
"I- i don't remember.."
He made a loud grunt.
"What is that locket?" Olivia asked.
The man glared at her and sighed, "The key to the sanctuary."
"Sanctuary?"
"A safe haven created by the Algrim, a place far from those Regalian reach.."
"Al- Algrim?"
"I don't know much about them aside from their eye color and the rumor of them tried rallying people to rebel against the Regalian, but failed due to the familiars were among the rebels."
"What's familiar?" Olivia said.
"Traitor to our kind, they sold others for their own safety, just like your friend."
"But-"
He raised his hand. "Quit asking, we have to go."
"What- what about your friend?"
"He's gone.." the man stood up. "I don't care if you want stay here, but those Regalian will hunts you."
Olivia gulped.
Melissa looked at Olivia. "I'm going with you, mister," she said.
"Me too.."
"Wise choice," he replied. "Here," he returned her locket. "And call me Cade."
They followed Cade head inside the abandoned monorail station. He removed the cover that hid the emergency stairs.
"We going down there? But- but, the mist!" Olivia gasped.
He sighed before taking out a sun orb from his bag. "Stay close to me."
They went downstairs until they reach the ground. A raft was waiting for them on the riverbanks. They hopped into the raft.
"Show me your locket," he said as he push the raft away from the banks.
Melissa took out her locket, and it started glowing.
"Hmm," he took out a similar looking locket, it's glowing too.
The lights formed into arrows, pointing at the same direction.
"You have one too?" asked Melissa.
"Yes, this one led to yours," he replied.
"That arrow, is it pointing at the sanctuary?" Olivia wondered.
"I'm not sure.." Cade shook his head. "But it is our only lead."
