Too late to let it go

After the Elevator

After the Elevator

May 25, 2026

The moment they turned the corner-
Tua stopped walking.
Mark almost walked into him.
''...What happened now?''
Eyes narrowed
Expression suspicious.
''Why was he there?''
Mark blinked.
''...Who?''
Tua stared at him like he'd just committed a crime.
''Don't act dumb''
Mark sighed.
''Oh. Him''

''Yes, Him,'' Tua repeated. '' Why is he in your buliding?''
''My buliding?'' Mark raised a eyebrow. ''You also came here.''
''That's different''
''How?''
''I was invited''
Mark crossed his arms.
''And he lives here''
Tua froze.
''...What?''
Mark nodded casually.
''I've seen him around. Same buliding.''
Silence
Tua processed that.
Once
Twice.

Then-
''No''
Mark blinked.
''No?''
''No,'' Tua repeated, shaking his head like the could reject reality itself. '' That's not possible''
''Why not?''
''Because...'' Tua paused, then pointed dramatically toward the elevator-
''Because he's not supposed to be here.''
Mark stared at him.
''You don't own the building.''
''That's not the point!''
Mark annoying said.
''Then what is the point?''
Tua opened his mouth-
then closed it again.
Because point didn't make sense.

''He wasn't supposed to show up again,'' Tua muttered finally.
Mark's expression shifted slightly.
Softer now.
''Again?'' he asked quitely.
Tua immediately straightened.
''Not like that''
Mark didn't respond right away.
Just looked at him.
Then-
''...You don't like him now, right?''
Mark asked the question.
But it stayed.
Tua scoffed almost instantly.
''Of course I don't ''
No hesitation
''I don't like him at all.''
Mark held his gaze.
Like he was checking for something.

Tua frowned.
''What?''
''...Nothing''
Mark looked away first.
''Just asking.''
Tua exhaled, running a hand through his hair.
Still slightly annoyed.
''Hmm.''
Tua immediately pointed at him.
''Don't 'hmm' me again.
Mark almost smiled.
''Then stop saying things that sound like they need a 'hmm.''
Tua rolled his eyes.
''You're overthinking.''
Tua grabbed Mark's sleeve lightly.
''Walk. I don't want to stand here and talk about him like he's important.
Mark let himself be dragged.
''Relax. I didn't say he was.''
Tua muttered under his breath-
''He's not''
But the way his fingers tightened just slightly said something eles entirely.
Mark noticed.
