Magic
༺♱༻
Coral Springs, the part of the Rainbow High for all of the sea creatures such as sirens, merfolk, and others.
Green Valley, the part where fairies, skinwalkers and more. Honestly I can't remember a lot of them.
Ore View, the part where crystal creatures, like mages live. I find the crystals part very interesting.
Maple Hills, where dragons and phoe– nixes are. The sky creatures.
And the center of Rainbow High, Independence Charter, where the dorms and main halls are.
Rainbow high is a school for the people who have magical powers and or wants to learn about them. Me included. Xavier went there before he came to my land, so he knows a lot about the place. He still goes there but only on his days off or small vacations that he needs every once in a while. I have an extra one if I need it. He has a few friends there that he talks about me to and they really want to meet me. I wonder what they’re like. He’s actually not that older than me, I’m 12 and he’s 15, only three years apart. He told me that his friends are also around our age. Him and his friends have their own little group. He told me that they aren’t that popular at school so they are kinda of an outcast. But they seem nice enough.
The group is with Xavier, Ash a non– binary person. Xavier told me that they don’t have a gender or refers to both. I think that non-binary people sound cool. Alex, a boy and Sophie, a girl.
I really want to meet Ash. They sound cool, non–binary people. I wonder what they look like. They are in what’s called the LGBTQ+ community.
He said that he and his friends are all in the same dorm. They’re roommates. But they all attend different courses.
Xavier is in the spell course.
Ash is in a dragon training course.
Alex is in the art course.
And Sophie is in the fighting course.
“You should rather go to Sophie than me if you want to learn to fight.” Xavier said with a laugh. “She’s a beast when it comes to fighting.” Xavier looks up at me with a smile. “You’re gonna love it there.”
I smile and Xavier’s dimples become visible, adding a cute touch to his smile.
“It’s been known in many places to be the best academy for people with magical potential. Especially, you.” Alaric says and sits next to me and Xavier, who are sitting on the little couch in the cabin. The fabric is very soft and has a cool grey color. I lean back on the couch.
“Is there anything that's off limits at Rainbow high?” I ask.
“Yes, many violent and murders are off limits at Rainbow High. Bullying and using potions on others without permission.” Xavier says.
“Who would kill people?”
“You never know. Some people don’t have the best intentions when it comes to powerful abilities.” Alaric nods in agreement to Xavier's statement. “Some take advantage of them and use them to hurt others.”
“Oh. Have there been many people like that before?”
“Not many, but still a few. There hasn't been anyone recently who’s done anything like that so far.”
“Okay that’s good to know. I don’t want to meet people like that.”
“I’ll make sure you won’t.” Xavier smiles and puts his hand on mine.
I look out the window to the right of the couch. The sun makes a beautiful ray of sunshine through the trees and down on the grass and moss. It looks magical. The bugs, flying, looking like fireflies with the sun shining off their smooth backs. The view gives me a warm and cozy feeling inside of me. Making me want to smile and just admire the view for a while. In which I give in to. We all sit there in silence for a while.
I slowly close my eyes feeling a bit tired, but I don't want to fall asleep. Not right now at least. I try to keep myself awake. I think Xavier notices and he wraps an arm around me from behind. I turn my head around and try to look at him, but my body can’t do it from my position. So I just looked out of the window again. Xavier caresses my side with his thumb. The touch calmed me a bit more. I close my eyes again and slowly drift off. The sound of birds chirping outside, soothes me…
The sound of a bang from outside wakes me. I react quickly, my guard rising. I sit up and look around the cabin. Xavier and Alaric do too and we go to the front porch. Xavier passes by me and opens the door. He steps outside.
“Is there anybody here?” Xavier yells out to whatever's out there. I hear a rustle from a bush and I look over there to see the bush moving a little. Xavier slowly walks over to it. I follow Xavier, and Alaric does so too. “Come out, come out, wherever you are” he says in a calming tone to not scare the thing.
We hear a whine from the bush. It sounds like soft crying. I get a little worried, but keep up with Xavier who keeps walking towards the bush. As we get closer and closer, Xavier puts his hand on his sword he has by his side. Xavier gets close enough to the bush and looks over it. But something runs out of the bush. It looks like a human. A tiny human. With a tail?
It runs inside the cabin and we follow it at a fast pace. We all look around the cabin, and search for the creature.
Xavier goes through the kitchen and Alaric the living room. I take a look around my room. I open the door and search for it. I go to my desk and look under it. Nothing. I look around and I see it on my bed. Under the covers, all curled up in a ball. It’s sleeping so peacefully. Its chest rising and lowering as it breathes. It fell asleep so fast. It's kind of concerning. Even with possible danger inside, it just.. fell asleep.
I can hear Xavier and Alaric move in the other room. I smile softly at the sight of the small creature and it’s resting position. I slowly try to go to Xavier and Alaric as quietly as possible.
“Shh,” I put a finger in front of my mouth, signaling for them to be quiet. “It’s sleeping in my room.”
I watch as their expressions change, from serious to something more soft. A soft smile gets planted on Xavier's face.
“Can I see it?”
“Sure,” I made a hand gesture for him to follow me. As we walk to my room, I can see Xavier has his guard up. His grip on the sword loosens a bit, as he sees the creature. It looks so peaceful. I carefully sit on the edge of the bed, being next to it.
“Be careful, you never know if it’s a trap” Xavier says.
“It won’t” I say with a soft tone. I gently tug a strand of its soft turquoise colored hair behind its ear.
