Today marks the fifth day of my life in another world, and a lot of things have changed since then. First of all, I've gotten a better understanding of the world I live in. More specifically, worlds. In the continent of Bayonia, two worlds reside. Enteim in the north, and Kunlun in the south. They're separated by a large dessert in the center called Desier. A forbidden ground where no life exists. As for Vanitas, well, considering that it's still merging with Bayonia, most of it's still in the void.
Another thing I've taken a closer look into is how magic works. Apparently, instead of mana, what people use here is called Will. A projection of a user's intent. It's a power determined by the world's assessment of your influence. Whether it be from status, training, or even events that have taken place, it's all recorded and stored in a book. In return, you yourself gain a greater influence in the world, and with more influence comes greater access to the world's authority.
It just sucks that I won't be able to use any. Unfortunately for me, since I don't originate from here, there's no book for me to be recorded in. Then when you add on the fact that Julius is crippled... well, we're not exactly the most capable people in the world. Which sucks even more. I always wanted to see how well he casts magic. He'd always hype himself up saying that he was the best in his generation, but after hearing that for like the seventh time, I'm starting to think that he's been lying to me.
Other than that, life here hasn't been bad. There's a couple of times I messed up. Yet, it seems that Julius is really tolerant of my actions. I even pranked him a little by dirtying his clothes, but other than showing off a bit of anger, he just ignored me... I don't really get why he does that. Who knows, maybe it's because he's not able to. Like, what if our souls were tied together, and it was one of those scenarios where if one dies, then the other one follows. I'd probably cry if that was true...
Oh right, I'm also learning another language. Remember the white haired butler I talked about. He wasn't evil at all. We talked for a bit, and after a couple of days, we found some common ground and made a deal with each other. In exchange for convincing Julius to go to school, he'd give me a book on the basics of the Bayonian language.
Minhyun sighed. After placing his pen down, he turned his head towards the man behind him.
The only issue now is how to deal with that mess...
...
"What are you doing? I'm thirsty... Can't you see how long I've been waiting for?"
Minhyun slowly placed his book down as he looked at the youth sitting behind him.
Not getting a response, Julius slammed his book shut and shouted.
"Didn't I tell you to do something? Do it."
Minhyun took a deep breath.
Motherfucker, just you wait for the surprise I have.
After thinking that, he pressed a small circle hidden beneath the table. Grasping at the thin strand that latched onto his finger, he attached it to his ear and whispered.
"The plan is on."
Then, as if on cue, the door slammed open, and an old man with white hair appeared. Purple pustules filled his face, and a deathly aura veiled over him. It looked like someone had poisoned him.
With a slight cough, he pulled out a list and said.
"Young master, the carriage is ready."
Julius turned his head and frowned.
"I didn't ask for a carriage."
Marus replied.
"Your name was registered in Verus' registration form."
Julius froze. Speechless, he turned towards Minhyun and yelled.
"What did you do!"
Minhyun just maniacally laughed.
"Ugh."
After getting pressed into the wall, he saw Julius stare at him with a manic look.
"I'm being serious. Just because I let you live inside my body doesn't mean that you can do whatever you want."
Minhyun coughed and a low voice escaped from his lips.
"Tell me, do you really want to keep living like this?"
Julius immediately rebuked.
"Stop acting like a saint. You really think I don't know what you're aiming for."
Fog engulfed Minhyun's eyes, and weakness encompassed his body.
"Yeah, you're right. I'm not a saint. I'm just a piece of shit that acts like one."
He then matched Julius' look.
"But I don't want to live like this forever. As a matter of fact, I don't want anyone to. Not you, not me, not anyone. Nobody deserves this."
Julius scoffed. After taking a deep breath, he said.
"Let's make a deal. If you manage to get in, then I'll agree to let you stay. I'll even help you. But if you don't, then you'll have to obediently follow everything I order."
Minhyun smiled.
"Oh, I was just about to say that. Speaking of which, I already have a contract ready for this. All you have to do is sign it."
Saying that, he then pulled out a piece of paper from his sleeve.
Julius let go of his shirt. After snatching it from his hands, he signed it with a swipe before smashing it into his chest.
Minhyun stumbled back, but after regaining his balance, he just smiled.
Heh… Idiot.
With a wide grin on his face, he then ran towards Marus before shouting.
"I got it!"
Marus smiled.
"Oh, good job. I didn't expect someone like you to come up with this."
Minhyun rubbed the back of his head.
"Yeah, I didn't think so either. I just didn't expect him to be so gullible."
Julius' eyes twitched. Discomfort filled his body, but with reality right in his face, he just slouched in defeat. He had been tricked by the dumbest person in the world.
However, while he sat there, a hand reached out to him. Scratching his cheek, Minhyun said.
"I wasn't lying about what I said… Also, the deal is still on."
Julius sighed. After slapping his hand away, he stood up on his own. He didn't know why, but he wasn't as opposed to this as he thought he would be. Now face to face with Minhyun, he kicked him in the crotch before walking away. As he made his way towards the exit, he waved his hand and said.
"Don't sit there for too long. You're going to miss registration."
Minhyun grit his teeth. Both mental and physical pain surged in his body as he cursed.
I was wrong. I didn't misunderstand shit. This brat's a full on villain.
Still clutching onto his family jewels, he slowly stood up and followed behind him.
…
"So, what's your plan?"
Listening to the voice that questioned him, Minhyun just tilted his head.
"Plan? What plan? I need a plan. I thought that this was just school."
Julius opened his mouth.
"Wait… You're telling me you did all of this without knowing what you're getting yourself into."
Minhyun looked away before knocking his head with his fist.
"Tehe."
Julius facepalmed.
Seriously, how did I get tricked by this idiot?
While Tweedle A and Tweedle B continued to argue in the back, a voice sounded out from the front.
"Young master. You don't have to worry about anything. I already have a plan for all of this."
Julius paused. After pointing at Minhyun's dumb face, he said.
"A plan? Speaking of one, how do you know about him?"
Marus mysteriously rubbed his mustache and answered.
"Young master, there are many secrets in the world than you don't know of. This is just one of them."
Julius kicked at the wall.
"Don't play all mysterious with me."
Minhyun jumped up. His head tilted down as he whispered.
"Hey, you shouldn't talk to him like that."
Julius snapped.
"Just whose side are you on!"
Minhyun immediately shut up.
Seeing this, Marus laughed. A brief moment passed before he said.
"This isn't something that the two of you should know… Let me just say that he wasn't the first of his kind to come here."
Julius slouched back on his seat, unsatisfied by the answer he was given.
"Tch."
A couple hours later, the carriage parked itself on the side of the road. A large open field sat on the right, and a riverbank coasted across the left hand side. Marus hopped off from the front. After untying the horse's leash, he grabbed two swords before walking into the field. As for the mechanical horse, it was currently swimming inside the river, cooling itself down from the multiple hours of operation.
A long pause resounded before Julius lazily said.
"Get out. He's going to want you for something."
Minhyun paused. Slowly opening the carriage door, he cautiously took a step outside. Truthfully, he was nervous as this was his first time leaving the city. Then, after following Marus deeper into the field, he asked.
"Is there something you needed me for?"
However, instead of answering him, Marus just pulled out his rapier and pointed it at him.
.
..
...
Whuh?
Minhyun took a step back.
"Uhh, what are you doing? You're not trying to silence me, are you?"
Marus took a deep breath and questioned.
"Young master Minhyun, you wouldn't happen to believe that they would let you in for free… would you?"
Minhyun scratched the back of his head.
"Oh, you don't have to call me that. Minhyun works just fine."
Then he froze.
"Wait, what? I have to take an exam."
Marus shook his head. He felt like he could now understand some of the struggles his young master had.
"There's three, one for each department. Acting, Alchemy, and Art."
He continued.
"But we'll be focusing on getting you in the department of theatrics and dance."
Sweat dripped down from Minhyun's face.
I thought it would be one of those, put your hands on a magic ball to test your aptitude kind of thing. Not a full on entrance exam… But I guess I shouldn't be complaining. If my first thoughts were true, then I would've failed before even starting.
With a face full of reluctance, he asked.
"Do I still have a chance?"
Marus just tossed him a basic sword.
"It'll depend on how hard you work. We still have two months and twenty three days till we reach our destination. Until then, I'll be teaching you how to defend yourself."
Minhyun grinned. Excitement etched itself on his face as he drew his sword. This was his dream… a second chance for him to right the wrongs of his past. Ultimately, he bowed his head and readied his sword before saying.
"Please teach me well."
…
Julius watched all this through the window. Pulling out a book titled Princess Slayer Mo'ron, he just shook his head and muttered.
"Are you really okay with giving him false hope… Two months and twenty three days. That's not even enough to learn the basics."
He then sighed. After opening his book, he buried his head and started to read.
"Whatever, it has nothing to do with me. I'll just wait until he fails. And once he does, I'll go back to my normal life. A life made for a cripple."
…
Julius paused. For some reason, the book in his hands didn't seem as interesting anymore. After closing it, he turned his head and looked outside.
"You know… Maybe I'll just keep an eye on him. After all... I wouldn't want him ruining my body."
