The Hated Omega Became Famous on a Parenting Show

Children Don’t Know How to Lie [1]

Children Don’t Know How to Lie [1]

May 29, 2026

Hi Everyone, I am so sorry, the earlier chapter belonged to the other novel. My novel "The Disliked Omega is loved by his family" is derived from this novel and I sorted them incorrectly.

Night fell early in Qingshui Village. As the winter sky darkened behind the mountains, the last trace of sunset sank into the tiled roofs, while thin smoke rose from the chimneys of the village houses. The air smelled of firewood, damp soil, and the faint sweetness of roasted sweet potatoes prepared by the programme team.

At seven o’clock, the families gathered in the open courtyard, where Director Zhou had arranged a small campfire in the centre. Around it were low wooden stools, thick blankets, enamel cups filled with warm water, and baskets of roasted chestnuts and sweet potatoes.

The scene looked warm and harmless, which meant, according to Qin Zhao’s survival instinct, that it was probably dangerous.

He sat down with his son and whispered, “Xiaochuan, remember. If the director asks emotional questions, say Dad is handsome and hardworking.”

Qin Xiaochuan looked at him. “But you cooked badly today.”

Qin Zhao clutched his chest. “You can skip that part.”

Xiao Heng, who happened to be passing by, stopped and said, “Selective reporting may reduce factual integrity.”

Qin Zhao: “…”

The bullet comments had only just entered the livestream room when they were struck directly by this line.

【HAHAHAHAHA Xiao Heng opened with a kill.】

【Selective reporting may reduce factual integrity. Qin Zhao, you’re done.】

【Every adult is unsafe around this child.】

【He is three years old and already a walking audit department.】

Shen Qingyu sat down on a wooden stool near the fire. Lu Jingheng placed a blanket over his shoulders before sitting beside him, the movement natural rather than exaggerated for the camera. Afterward, he took Shen Qingyu’s bandaged hand and checked the gauze under the firelight.

Shen Qingyu glanced at him. “You checked it ten minutes ago.”

Lu Jingheng said, “The environment changed.”

“The environment?”

“Lower temperature. Outdoor wind. Increased risk of discomfort.”

Shen Qingyu was silent for a moment before he said, “You can just say you’re worried.”

Lu Jingheng paused. The firelight softened the cold lines of his face as he looked down at Shen Qingyu’s hand and said, very seriously, “I’m worried.”

Shen Qingyu’s eyelashes moved.

Across the campfire, Tang Mianmian bit down on a chestnut shell and smiled without saying anything.

The bullet comments immediately became a warm flood.

【He learned.】

【President Lu learned to say it directly!】

【Shen Qingyu taught him and he really listened.】

【Why is this so sweet?】

【Low EQ but teachable. Good husband material.】

【Good husband? This is SSS+ rare-grade husband.】

Xiao Nian climbed onto the stool beside Shen Qingyu and leaned against him carefully, avoiding his bandaged hand. Xiao Heng sat on the other side, holding a roasted sweet potato with both hands and studying it with solemn concentration.

Shen Qingyu noticed and asked, “Why aren’t you eating?”

Xiao Heng said, “It is too hot. I am waiting for heat dissipation.”

Shen Qingyu looked at Lu Jingheng, who had also been holding Shen Qingyu’s cup for the same reason.

One large and one small, with exactly the same serious expression.

Shen Qingyu pressed his fingers against his brow.

The bullet comments were merciless.

【Heat dissipation HAHAHAHA.】

【Like father, like son.】

【One cools tea, one waits for sweet potato heat dissipation.】

【Shen Qingyu is fighting against an entire family of human algorithms.】

Director Zhou stood behind the camera and watched the atmosphere settle. Only then did he raise the loudspeaker.

“Tonight’s segment is called The Words Children Want to Say.”

Qin Zhao immediately covered his face. “I knew it.”

Tang Mianmian laughed. “You’re afraid of your son telling the truth?”

Qin Zhao said, “I’m afraid of him telling too much truth.”

Director Zhou continued as if he had not heard. “Each child will draw a question card. The parents cannot interrupt the child’s answer. After the child answers, the parent may respond.”

Qin Zhao whispered, “This is not a variety show. This is public execution.”

Xiao Heng looked up. “Public execution is illegal.”

Qin Zhao said, “Thank you, Xiao Heng. I feel safer.”

Xiao Heng added, “This is more accurately public emotional evaluation.”

Qin Zhao said, “I feel worse.”

The courtyard burst into laughter, and even Shen Qingyu smiled.

However, the moment Director Zhou brought out the wooden question box, Shen Qingyu felt the air shift very faintly, like a thin thread sliding across his skin.

The protagonist halo had appeared again.

He lowered his eyes. The firelight reflected in his pupils, bright and cold.

It had failed in the morning with the room. It had failed in the kitchen with Xiao Nian. It had failed in the room exchange. Now, it had chosen a softer knife.

Family. Forgiveness. Children’s words.

It was the kind of question that looked harmless, yet could force him into an ugly corner. If he said he would forgive, the Shen family could approach. If he said he would not, the halo could guide public opinion into calling him cold-hearted. If the children said something emotional, the internet could turn it into pressure.

Shen Qingyu’s lips curved faintly.

It really had not changed. The script was still the same old script; only the stage was different.

The first child to draw a card was Tang Tang. She opened the card and read loudly, “What does Mom do that makes you feel loved?”

Tang Mianmian’s expression immediately softened.

Tang Tang thought hard before she said, “Mom hugs me when I cry. She also scolds people who say Yuan Yuan is too quiet.”

Yuan Yuan nodded shyly.

Tang Mianmian’s eyes warmed. “Of course. My daughters can be loud or quiet. It’s none of their business.”

The comments filled with praise.

Wen Nuonuo’s card asked what she wanted to do with her uncle. She answered that she wanted Wen Xuci to rest more because he always worked late.

Wen Xuci smiled gently, although the viewers could clearly see his eyes soften.

Qin Xiaochuan drew the card, “What is one thing Dad is bad at?”

Qin Zhao immediately closed his eyes.

Qin Xiaochuan answered without hesitation, “Cooking.”

The courtyard laughed.

Qin Zhao sighed. “I accept my fate.”

Xiao Heng added, “Acceptance is the first step to improvement.”

Qin Zhao pointed at him. “You’re everywhere.”

The atmosphere remained light until it was Xu Xingxing’s turn.

She drew a card and read quietly, “What kind of parent do you think is a good parent?”

The courtyard quieted slightly.

Xu Xingxing was shy, but after glancing at Xu Zhixia, she said, “A good parent listens when the child is scared.”

Xu Zhixia froze, and his hand tightened around the blanket on his lap. After a moment, he said softly, “Dad will listen better.”

Xu Xingxing nodded.

The bullet comments became gentle.

【Children really know.】

【A good parent listens.】

【This segment is suddenly emotional.】

Then Director Zhou turned to Xiao Nian and Xiao Heng, and the camera followed.

The bullet comments immediately became excited.

【Our dumplings are here.】

【I am ready for emotional damage.】

【Or legal analysis.】

【Possibly both.】

Xiao Nian looked at Shen Qingyu.

Shen Qingyu touched his hair. “Go.”

Xiao Nian and Xiao Heng walked to the wooden box together, and Xiao Nian drew first. He opened the card with both hands, while the staff helped him read the words because some characters were difficult.

“Question: If Dad or Father made a mistake, would you forgive them?”

The courtyard became quiet.

Too quiet.

Shen Qingyu lowered his eyes.

There it was. Not aimed directly at him, not yet, but close enough.

The protagonist halo curled softly around the scene, as if waiting for the child to say something innocent and useful. Children should forgive. Families should forgive. Blood relatives should forgive. Misunderstandings should be forgiven.

A child’s answer could become a rope tied around an adult’s throat.

Xiao Nian held the card, confused. He looked at Shen Qingyu, then at Lu Jingheng.

“If Dad made a mistake?”

The staff member nodded gently. “Yes. Would Xiao Nian forgive him?”

Xiao Nian thought for a long time before he said, “It depends.”

The staff member was stunned, and even the bullet comments paused.

Xiao Nian continued, his voice soft but clear. “If Dad accidentally forgot my snack, I would forgive him.”

Everyone smiled.

Then Xiao Nian said, “If Dad hurt me and said sorry, but kept hurting me, then I would move away.”

The courtyard went completely silent.

Shen Qingyu’s fingers stopped.

Xiao Nian lowered his head and squeezed the card. “Teacher said saying sorry means you know it is wrong. If you know it is wrong and still do it again, then sorry is not useful.”

The fire cracked softly.

No one spoke.

The child’s voice was not loud, and it carried no accusation. He was simply explaining the world as he understood it.

Shen Qingyu was the youngest Omega Film Emperor in history — cold, brilliant, and hated by everyone. For five years the internet called him vicious, gold-digging, and a neglectful mother. Then he walked onto a parenting show with his terrifying CEO husband, two alarmingly logical toddlers, and absolutely zero intention of performing innocence. He didn't come to apologise. He came to make the world ask the question it never bothered to ask before: what exactly did he do wrong?
