Sunlight filtered through the swaying wood shutters of her kitchen, dust dancing through the air as Auburn walked to the counter. She stared at her kitchen sink, full prescription medicinal plant capsules lined the edge of the counter. With a sigh and a hand dragged down her face, she stumbled from the counter. “Chibis,” she said with a clap of her hands; a small blue dog-like animal blipped onto the couch in front of her, wagging its long tendril tails as Auburn stopped. “What a mess, isn't it girl?” Auburn whispered softly to her Glimmer on the couch, who responded with a soft coo. Her eyes wandered through the small alcove of a home, books layered the corners of her dwelling, unorganized against the drab white walls.
Floorboards bent up out of the ground, exposing the underlayment of the house and were sprinkled throughout her living room. She couldn’t be bothered to cover them up…let alone fix them. What was the point? It wasn't like she had anyone to impress, let alone keep it nice for herself. Auburn frowned to herself as she spotted this week's disaster. An unfinished attempt at scholar art lingered in the farthest corner of the loft, away from the couch and entertainment center in the middle of the room. Golden sigils were suspended in the air, surrounding a half-finished, intricate diagram sketched on a hovering piece of parchment.
Splotches dithered on the parchment where she had begun to slowly sculpt the diagram to life. Blues and reds and gold burst from the paper where large spiraling pillars stood tall. Travelling along the sides of drum towers, long, grand and elegant in their form. She sighed, “what a stupid dream.” Auburn growled to herself as she whisked a hand through the air with an exhale. The sigils shattered and cascaded through the air before evaporating on the ground. While the parchment burned in the air becoming a pile of ash on the floor.
Her Glimmer, Chibis, stopped wagging her tails, letting out a low, questioning whine at the sudden burst of frustration. The golden sigils were gone, leaving only the drab white walls, the exposed underlayment of the floor, and the overwhelming rows of medicinal capsules by the sink.
