Seeing Angels

Chapter 2 – In The Best of ‘Spirits’

Chapter 2 – In The Best of ‘Spirits’

May 30, 2026

“This is Sgt. Willow.”

Dr. Webb introduced me to Dome when we met to his hotel room a week later.

“Nice to meet you.”

I held out my hand to him, trying my best to keep a straight face and hold my emotions at bay.

He looked different from when I last saw him. In truth, he looked like hell.

I’m taller than him now, but he’s grown much bulkier, yet the glow about him has disappeared and was replaced by a dark aura. Even his lilac eyes that captivated me eight years ago, have lost their glow.

He stared at me, sizing me up, adjusting his glasses as he did. Obviously, he does not recognize me. I ain’t as emancipated and half dead as he first met me, after all.

Besides, he had probably helped thousands of other people since then.

“So, you’re the Special Dominant Alpha? You don’t look that much to me,” said Ash, the last member of our 3-man team.

“Yeah, that’s me,” he grimaced as he rubbed his temple. “I heard you where looking for a new drug?” it was quite obvious that he’s been drinking.

“Is it fine to work with him? He obviously has a hang-over.” I asked Dr. Webb straight out.

“It’s just jetlag,” he reasoned. ”Do you know where their main operations are held?” Dome asked, trying to change the subject.

“That’s what we need you for,” I answered. “An operation like this could easily drive a group of alphas crazy if they try to sniff it out. Literally.”

“But that won’t be no problem for a Super Alpha like you, right?” Ash taunted him.

Dome simply looked at Ash before facing me again.

“I’ll see what I can do,” he said, “tomorrow.”

We left his hotel room. We went back to HQ where Dr. Web called me to his office.

“Well? What can you say about DOME?” he asked.

“He doesn’t seem to be in the best of ‘spirits’.” I replied, emphasizing on spirits.

“He didn’t want to come back, after all. I had to take drastic measured to make him return.”

“So, it is true that he’s left the Gender Police force?”

“Not exactly...” said the doc, giving a deep sigh as he sat on the swivel chair behind his desk. “He had requested to go back to his country and only receive missions there. That’s what we agreed upon a year ago. But I had to bring him back here due to some... circumstances that he caused himself.”

“What circumstances?”

Doc gave another deep sigh.

“That is top secret information that I cannot divulge to you yet,” he replied, but the ‘yet’ at the end sounds promising.

“Oh, c’mon doc! You know you can trust me!” I grinned at him, “Besides, you got my brothers under surveillance, ain’t that enough to ensure my loyalty?”

“One of your brothers just went off grid last week, right after I told you about this mission with DOME! Isn’t that enough reason for me to drop you off the team?!” He glared at me.

“Woah, Doc, ain’t my fault your people can’t keep tabs on him!” I said defensively, “He’s prob’ly just visiting his boyfriend or somethin’.”

“Hmph. Don’t worry, we’ll find him soon, you can be sure of that. And as for Dome...” he looked at me from head to toe. “Show me first how trustworthy you are. Then perhaps I’ll let you stay as his permanent back-up.”

I had nothing better to do that evening, so I decided to stalk him instead. I went back to his hotel. I remember he wanted to sweat his ‘jetlag’ away, so I headed for the gym.

I found him on the treadmill. He looked much better than he did earlier, but there was still an aura of gloom surrounding him. I went to a corner and did some squats, keeping my hoodie down, when a guy approached and used the treadmill beside him.

Looks like an omega.

Acts like one too.

He kept glancing at Dome and even smiled at him.

What a cheap bitch.

That’s why I got a bit surprised when Dome smiled back.

They talked for a while, the omega touching his biceps, trailing it down to his pecks. Dome didn’t seem to mind. Later, the two headed for the showers and stayed there for an hour!

“The hell...” I said under my breath. “I never thought I’d see a horny angel.”

I shook my head in disbelief. Seems to me, he ain’t as innocent as he was eight years ago. But then again, he looked like he was still in his teens back then. If I’m right, he was prob’ly `bout the same age as I was.

I guess all those damn missions corrupted him.

A lot.

It also means I have a chance.
