Part 1: The Farm is Burning!

Part 1: The Farm is Burning!

May 30, 2026

[O, our poor, poor sacrificial godbuns in our burning season,

We gave our people gems, we gave our people land,

And, yet, they have no appreciation for what their world has to offer!

There's a rich amount of ore, crystals galore,

But, they never even take a moment to explore!

The centuries have come and gone by,

And our people lose value in everything! What went awry?

We ask ourselves this question on the daily,

And yet, we never seem to be able to find an answer that question aplenty.

We try to encourage our people to explore,

But, they laugh at us until there's nothing to guffaw at anymore!

They act like there is nothing of value

In the world around them.

Where has the appreciation from the unknown gone?

It's been buried for the last century!

Don't you see?

O, our poor, poor sacrificial godbuns

What's a deity to do

When our people shut their eyes and turn away from the world of beauty?

We try as we might to get them to see,

Teach them about all the land has to offer

And, yet, they turn away, are they all blind?

The value of the world around them has been reduced to zero!

All our people want is to ask us for every little thing!

They never try to do something on their own,

They summon us as they please!

Plea and plea and plea forever and ever until we answer them,

Never learning how to appreciate!

They ask and ask and summon us for every little thing,

Even though the answer to all is right in front of them!

Will they ever learn something by their lonesome?

It seems as though that will never be likely!

O, our poor, poor sacrificial godbuns ready to twist our necks into a knot for all eternity,

What's a deity to do,

When our people refuse to see the burning agony?

We ask them to give us the space we need,

And yet the boundary is cracked into nothing

More times than we can count lately!

O, please o, please gods above, help us please!

We implore you to solve a problem

With the help of your own families.

And, yet, they never consider that option

The one that is savvy!

We only have so much time

To tend to their needs!

Don't you see?

The mortals continue to have us give and never receive!

O, our poor, poor godbuns with a stake in our heart that is bleeding,

What will it take for our people

To listen to us at least once

And stand on their own two feet?

They need to learn that we are not finite.

We implore you to stop asking for every little thing!

Leave us a moment to breathe,

Halt our suffocating!

But, do we foresee that outcome happening?

We don't not, it will never be!

Our people only continue

To gain more greed,

Why can't their eyes see,

The intense burning misery?

Why, o why is this so?

We are at a loss on where to go.

In this season of boiling agony,

Change needs to happen as soon as possible, please!]

Sniff, sniff, sniff, sniff.

Coming to who knows when, the bun let out a groan. What happened again just now? Oh, right, he returned home after heading to a time erosion zone, and then? Smoky scent filling the air, the vampa wobbled once more. Ah, forget it, he can't keep his eyes open anymore, so long, world, goodnight. Wake him up when he recalls what's happening.

Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle.

Blinking awake once more, a memory flowed back into the farmer's mind. Oh, that's right he returned home after meeting with Emarlbu and then? Flames dancing around him, the young adult let out a screech. Oh, that's right, he remembers now, the farm, it went ablaze! How could he let himself get knocked out at a time like this?!

[You're our little plaything now, remember that, Unhappy Bunny!] the burning message beneath his shouted once again.

Flaming reminder spreading faster than he could keep up with the farmer let out a scream. Ah, no, the cherry trees, they're burning, the fields, they're not going to make it! He has to hurry and put these embers out before everything's a goner! Flapping upward, the young adult raced off towards the river. Time is running out, it's fading away fast!

Reaching for a bucket, the farmer filled the thing to full as fast as he could muster. Smoke only getting worse by the second, the bun let out a scream. Ah, no, this is bad, very bad, if it reaches the chicken hut, it's game over! Racing back towards the fields, The liquid had been dropped down, in an instant. Please, flames, begone, let the farm survive this!

Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle.

Flames only going stronger, the bun's chest grew cold. No, no, no, how could this be happening?! Just what did the godbuns do?! Are these flames invincible? No, no, come on Siorc, happy thoughts. There has to be a way to get rid of them before it's too late. Think of something, anything, quick! There has to be a way to end this nightmare!

Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle.

Burning embers racing towards the opposite end, the young adult lowered his ears. Divine above, why is it spreading, what if all of Seeboro is about to go up in flames? No, no, he can't think such things! It'll be fine, right, he just needs to douse them out faster! Bucket in hand once again, the bun flapped with all his might. This time, for sure, has to put these flames out!

Liquid dancing upon the monster in front of him, the vampa swore the sea of bright orange only continued to worsen. Dropping down onto his knees, tears streamed down the farmer's face. It's over, isn't it? The game is done, he can kiss the farm goodbye. So long, chickens, goodbye, ducks, he tried his best, but it wasn't enough, body wobbling once more, he closed his eyes. Whenever he wakes up next, he'll be a pile of ashes.

"I'm home," a familiar voice said, but it soon shifted. "Oh, lordy, lordy, the farm is burnin'! The farm is burnin'! Just my luck!" Racing into action, the screams continued. "Siorc, I'm back! What happened here?!"

Blinking awake for what felt like the tenth time, the young adult hugged his knees. When did Strix get back here? Oh, great, he witnessed the mess out here! What should he do? What in the world should he say at a time like this?! Vegetables burned to a crisp one after another, the young adult reached for the Talkmaster B. Hurry, hurry, draw down everything before the fence goes up in flames, too!

Little face with horns drawn on top of them with an angry symbol next to it, the bun almost wanted to shake the device. But, the vampa stopped himself from doing so. There's no time to draw anything again! He has to hurry! Quick, draw everything down that needs to be said before it's too late! Everything haphazardly drawn, a robotic voice soon played out into the open.

[I don't know, Strix! After the Mystic Carrot Bowl ended, I went to the Driasm, and when I returned, the farm was on fire! Look at the message the gods left me over there!] A crackling voice cried through the Talkmaster B's speakers.

Strix looking down, the vampa resisted the urge to bite his nails clean off. What if he blames him for this? The farm, it's going to never live again! Haha, this is all his fault, isn't it? He shouldn't have gone to the Driasm. Pin the blame all on him! He's a no good Unhappy Bunny who was supposed to the God's little plaything! If the entirety of Seeboro is gone, he'll pay with his life!

"You're our little plaything now, remember that, Unhappy Bunny!" Strix read aloud. "Lordy, lordy, ya can't be serious right now! Siorc, we gotta hurry and put out the flames! Ah, no, they're spreadin', they're spreadin'!"

[I tried dousing them out with water, but they only got stronger! Strix, what should we do?!] A crackling voice cried through the Talkmaster B's speakers.

"Yer kiddin', the river won't be of any use to us then!" Strix cried. He then ran around in a circle. "Quick, go get the ducks! They might be able to do a little somethin'!"

Racing towards the duck pond, the world around him grew small. Wheat beside it nothing but ashes, tears streamed down the bun's face. What if all the ducks were nothing but burned fowl now? Please, don't let that be the case! Leaping towards the bed of water, quacks had come his way right, front and center.

Ducks locking eyes with him, the farmer waved his hands in the air. Quackers, please, listen to him, he needs their assistance! Their home, any second now, and it would go up in flames! Waterfowl making a fly for it, the quacks of doom had only gotten louder as the second had begun to wear themselves out.

"Ya got them? Aight, lead 'em to me!" Strix shouted.

Curling his fingers, the vampa let down the whistle of doom. Please, ducks, do something, anything to stop this burning nightmare from continuing on! Little quackers racing towards his brother, the bun crossed his fingers. Let them be able to do something, please! Time is running out, and it's running out fast!

"Army, forward, march! Use yer wings to blast the flames away!" Strix shouted.

Waterfowl flapping upward, the farmer kept his fingers crossed. Would this really work? Maybe this was going to be a waste of time. No, no, Siorc, come on, don't think that way! It's fine, the quackers got this! Feathers clapped together at lightning speed, a funnel raced out into the open.

Flames sucked in like there was no tomorrow, the young adult reached for an earring. Now's his chance to make this monster go away! Prized possession turning into a pistol, the bun pressed the trigger. Bullets racing towards the wind, the bun let out a battle cry. Godbuns, they'd better be watching him!

Quack, quack, quack, quack.

First round of boiling embers decimated, the bun huffed a breath. The fields are saved. Or, are they? Ah, great, any second now, and the fire would rise again, wouldn't it? Ducks looking about ready to drop down into a deep, deep slumber, the vampa raced back towards the pond. Rest well, soldiers of the flame war, they did well.

Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle.

Whiffing up an even stronger scent, the bun dropped down onto his knees once more at the sight before him. Trees looked about ready to be cooked into oblivion, the young adult raced onto the scene. No, not the fruit trees, anything but those! Charred fruits dropped down one after another, he dashed off towards the shed. Where's the extinguisher? He needs to find it, quick!

"Lordy, not the cherry trees, too!" Strix cried. "An' the guava trees and alla the other stuff I recently planted! Great, they're about to be a goner!" He then ran around in a circle.

Extinguisher acquired, the bun raced back towards the trees. Powder racing out of the thing, the vampa closed his eyes as the flames only grew stronger. Haha, it was worth a shot right? But, the farmer shook his head. No, there's no way he can give up at a time like this! He just has to hit the right spot, right, that's all that has to be done here!

Shaking the creature, the young adult tried again. Flames from the skies above, dissipate already! Failure giving him a little laugh, the vampa tried again. Please, please, at least let him save one tree, that's all he asks! Divine above, if they're listening, let him at least keep this one last dream alive!

Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle.

Flames rustling the leaves, the bun tossed the tool aside. This thing is nothing more than a dried up tool has outlived its usefulness! Options ready to stab themselves into oblivion, the vampa's eyes wandered. What can he do now? The chance to put an end to this are thinning! Wind continuing to laugh up a storm, another message soon burned down onto the ground.

[Just accept it already, Unhappy Bunny! You're our plaything from here on out!] A burning message shouted.

Embers beneath giving him one more reminder, the young adult let out a scream. No, absolutely not, he's not going to be the god's little plaything any longer! Screeching, the bun raced his ears towards the commotion. Ramming them towards the flames, the vampa's head spun. Begone, smoke, begone flames! Everything ready to fall to the wayside, the world wobbled.

Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle.

Flames coming back from the dead one after another, the bun placed his hand on his chest. This is it, the end of the road. So long, harvest season, there's no way he'll ever recover from this. Are the rest of the farms across Seeboro about to meet their end, too? Probably. Sound around him fading, Strix came running onto the scene.

"Looks like I ain't gotta choice but to use that!" Strix shouted, hopping upward. "Watch out, this is gonna get ugly!"

Backing away towards the picnic table, the vampa pulled down his ears. Strix was going to use that?! Oh, no, not that anything but that. Large drill twisting onto the battlefield, the bun covered his eyes. This is it, may as well kiss the entire harvesting season away for the next five years while he's at it. Haha, haha, bye bye, cherry tree, it was nice knowing them.

Squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak.

Squeaks adding themselves to the mix as well, doom painted the farmer a brand new shade of purple. Oh, great, the vermin were coming, the vermin were coming! He has to hurry and get rid of them right now before the worst could come to pass. Where are they?! Racing around the farm, the bun could feel it. Any second now, and there would definitely be more where that came from.

Squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak.

Barn glaring daggers at him, the bun raced towards it. Spotting familiar wings off in the distance, his head was about to turn into jelly. Oh, great, there's chocobats here, too? This is not looking good! Broom grabbed, the bun let his wing lead. There's not a lot of time left! He has to get rid of these fiends right here, right now!

Strawrats running around the hay, the vampa resisted the urge to rip his hair out. Where did all of these fiends come from?! Gazing at the window, he let out a growl. The godbuns invited them, didn't they? He's had quite enough of their games today! Hairpin soon removed, a blade was out and ready for action. Creatures sliced and diced, he swore he could hear a laugh trailing off from somewhere.

Little rodents squeaking even more, the farmer's energy had begun to fade. What were these things, invincible?! Just how many were hiding in here?! Agh, forget it, as if he knew the answer to that question! Blade continuing to do its duty, the chocobats soon flew towards him like their lives depended on it.

Broom awarded to the flying pests, the bun kept the momentum going. Take this, and that, and this, vermin head smash! Flapping critters dropping down into nothingness, the young adult puffed a sigh of relief. That was the last of them, right? Please, let this be the final set he has to deal with! But, such was wishful thinking, tenfold.

Hundreds more flying in, the farmer let out a laugh. Oh, great, they have friends! Taking the vermin out one after another with all his might, the bun could feel his head ready to explode. Dropping down onto the hay with a loud thud, the bun closed his eyes. World ready to fade, one last thought kicked in.

The godbuns will pay for this! There's no way he'll let them get away with this!
