Too late to let it go

The Information

The Information

May 31, 2026

The file wasn't thick.
Arnold expected more.
More details.
But what he got instead-
was simple.
Clean.
Just like the person it described
He flipped it open, eyes scanning the first line.
Name: Tua
Profession: Psychologist.
Location: Private clinic, central district.
Arnold's gaze paused for a second.
pyschologist..
A faint exhale left him.
Of course.
It fit
Too well.

He turned the page.
Notes weren't official.
Just gathered information.
General observations.
But even those-
Were enough.
''Known for clam approach.''
''Highly observant.''
''Maintains strict professional boundaries.''
''Rarely engages personally.''
Arnold's fingers stilled.
Rarely engages personally.
His mind flashed back-
Tua laughing.
Leaning.
Carefree.
With that unknown man.
His jaw tightened.
So that's not how usually is.
Which meant-

That side of him...
was reserved.
Not for everyone
Arnold flipped another page.
''Patients describe him as easy to talk to.''
''Does not judge.''
''Prefers listening over speaking.''
A faint, almost irnoic thought crossed his mind.
Does not judge.
He let out a quiet breath.
Right.
The memory surfaced-
Uninvited
''You're not as innocent as you pretend.''
Arnold's hand paused on the paper.
For a second
the words didn't feel distant.
They felt-
recent and heavy.
He closed the file halfway.
So he became this.
Not emotional.
Careful.
distant.

Arnold leaned back slowly.
Trying to connect-
the boy from before.....
to the man now
Because nothing matched.
Except-
The way Tua had looked at him in the elevatpr.
Or rather-
The way he hadn't
Arnold exhaled slowly.
''...You really changed''
The words were quiet.
Then.
his eyes dropped to the last note.
''Lives alone.''
Because that-
didn't match what he saw.
Not with the way Tua was with that Man.
Not with how comfortable he looked.
So either-
The information is wrong.
Or-
He misunderstood something.
Arnold's grip tightened slightly on the file.
He didn't like either option
