“Mama! Please, I’ll be good! I promise, I’ll take my meds! You saw yourself! I ain’t gonna attack no one!”
“What meds? When we could hardly afford to buy food?!”
My mother pulled her arm away, throwing me to the ground. I scraped my arms on the rough asphalt.
“Here’s the money. Just sign here and we’re done,” said one of the men he was selling me to.
“You sure your son’s an alpha?” asked another who pulled me up to my feet.
“Can’t you smell him?” he snapped at them as he counted his money. “He almost went to rut the other night when I got my heat!”
“Okay, let’s go.”
Another man pulled me away. I was about to lose all hope when mama called them back.
“Wait! Why you only payin’ me this much?!”
“Your son’s too scrawny. He won’t sell much, we’ll need to fatten him up first!” said the man with the money.
“The fuck! Can’t you see that’s kid’s face? He even learned how to read and write! Why, the other whore houses were willing to pay me twice this much!”
“Then go sell him somewhere else!”
The man holding me shoved me back.
“Just give me another two grand!” my mama insisted.
The man glared at him, then signaled one of his companions who handed him two more stacks of twenty dollar bills.
“There. Now scram!”
I watched as my mother ran away with his five grand.
That’s right.
I guess all I’m worth is five thousand bucks.
“Hey kid.”
The man grabbed my arm again.
“Do you know what just happened here?”
I looked down at my dirty feet. Mama didn’t even bother to let me wear my old shoes. He said my brothers needed it more, now that I was gonna get sold off.
“You belong to us now,” the man continued, “so don’t get no stupid ideas in your head `bout runnin’ away. Unless you wanna get hurt. You listenin’?”
He shook my arm so hard it felt like it would pop out of its socket.
“Y-yeah!” I whimpered, tears streaming steadily down my cheeks.
I’m old enough to know that I can’t go home no more.
“Don’t worry, you’re special. You’re an alpha. And who knows, if you survive long enough, you might end up like me.”
The man grinned. He was missing some teeth, but looking closer, I noticed he wasn’t as old as I thought he was.
“You’re the property of the Red Raven now,” they told me. “Tell us your name and age.”
“A-Alejandro... t-ten...”
“Well, Alejandro,” they grinned at me, “welcome to hell.”
“You’re still here?”
Dome mumbled when I woke him up the next day.
“Is that any way to talk to me? After fucking me `till I passed out?” I asked, chuckling. “I called room service, you better get ready before the doc gets here.”
That woke him up.
“So, who’s Nathan?” I asked later as we sat eating on the small dining table.
“Old partner,” he answered without batting an eyelash.
“What kind? The one who dies with you, or the one you die for?”
“None of your business.”
“Well, with the way you were moaning his name last night, I’d say he’s to die for.”
I gave a soft laugh, but he decided to ignore me.
“Anyway, since we’re gonna be partners, you now have someone you can die with,” I half joked. “I’m glad you’ll be watching my back.”
“No one’s dying.”
I looked at him. He was frowning as he ate his breakfast.
“I’ve already lost two partners in this line of work,” I told him, “You’ve seen my scar as well, and I don’t like sugar coating things. People die. No big deal. So long as we have fun.”
“So, is catching criminals your idea of fun?” he asked me.
I smile at him seductively.
“The thrill is what I live for,” I stood from my seat and went closer to him. He didn’t push me back, as I sat on his lap and caressed his chest.
“The sex afterwards is much more appetizing after a good stakeout,” I smiled at him, inching closer `till out lips touched. “We still have time...” I whisper in his ear, and sure enough, he didn’t disappoint me.
That would be the first of many nights together.
The missions went on and on, and soon two months have passed. I convinced him to keep me. We looked for an apartment and stayed there, both of us, hungry for the other, for one reason or another.
The Doc gave us a new team, and in ev’ry stake-out, I noticed how Dome became even more desperate to finish the mission and leave as quickly as possible.
He would be insatiable then, when we go back home to fuck.
He would be wild and hungry and throw all his frustrations at me.
And of course, I gladly accepted them all.
“Fuck. What happened to you that made you this way?” he once asked me as he tied me to the bed.
I was tempted to tell him my past.
How my omega mom sold me to a whore house.
How a bastard who called me destiny corrupted me completely.
But I knew he wouldn’t want to hear about all that.
I was just his doll after all, and besides, he already has too much going on in his head.
“Nathan...”
He called the same name in his sleep again.
I have no idea who this Nathan is, but I know withdrawal when I see it.
I know what it’s like to lust for a fated pair. I’m no beginner when it comes to these feelings of despair, and that’s exactly what he’s going through.
Though I also know that I have no right to ask him more about this Nathan.
“He ain’t very friendly, is he?” our new teammate Cole asked me as we went off to a new mission. He motioned at Dome who is currently asleep.
“He’s okay,” I answered. “Just doesn’t talk much.”
“That’s rich, comin’ from you,” another teammate chuckled.
“I’m just choosy `bout who I talk to,” I replied.
We were off to a big mission in San Diego, this time as a five man team.
According to the Spider, more and more omega farms are poppin’ up since the advent of a new party drug called the ‘Terminus pill’.
Omega musk is the main ingredient of the said drug, and the price has been rising since we started our stakeout. They’ve been havin’ a shortage of raw materials lately, and are desperate to ship more omegas `cross the border.
“But hey, this one’s gonna be a major operation, isn’t it?” asked Dewy who just got out of the academy. “No more backyard farms or club heists, this time we’re goin’ on an actual raid!”
“Hey greenhorn, don’t get too excited,” said Cole with a laugh, “you just might end up gettin’ yourself shot.”
“You’ve been with the Gender Police Alpha Task Force for 12 years, right Cole?” Dewy asked the senior officer, “Have you ever been shot before?”
“Three times,” he bragged, “turned out my partner was a snitch, he tried to gun my black ass down and shot me twice before I blew his head off.”
“What about the third time?” Dewy asked.
“Got shot by an omega whore when he found out I was undercover,” he chuckled.
“How `bout you, Willow?”
The mini van we rode went silent for a while.
“Once. I took a bullet for a friend,” I told them. “Three more found their target. He was dead on the spot.”
Silence reigned once more.
“Sorry, man,” Dewy mumbled. “Guess it comes with the job, huh? Really... these omegas are a lot more trouble than they’re worth.”
“Hey, you’re lucky Dome’s sleepin’ right now,” said Cole, “he’s got a soft stop for `em omegas, you know.”
“O-oh, I didn’t mean anything by that!” the other quickly said, “I just meant, they always get into heaps of trouble... but I guess, alphas are to blame for that too, since they’re the ones who are abusing them anyways.”
I couldn’t help but laugh then.
“Hey, I meant that!” Dewy said, defensively, “My mom’s an omega, you know, and so are my twin brothers. I guess I’m doing this so that people like them can be safe.”
“Me, I’m doing it for the bucks!” said Cole. “I got four mouths to feed and a big alimony to pay.”
“What about you, Willow?” Dewy asked me again.
“For the thrill,” I replied with a smile. “Seeing omegas being butchered just turns me on.”
“I-isn’t that a bit extreme?” Dewy laughed awkwardly, thinking I was joking. He fell silent when I stared at him.
“I was raised by my omega mom,” I said. “When he found out I was an alpha, he sold me off to a whore house where I was fucked night and day by rich omegas in heat. I was 10 back then, and was rescued when I was 19. That was 9 years I spent in hell.”
“B-but... aren’t you a dominant alpha?” the kid asked once more.
“And what do you think suppressants are for?” I chuckled, “Not ev’ryone in the Gender Police are out to help omegas,” I continued. “They ain’t the only ones getting abused.”
Silenced filled the van once more, and thankfully, Dewy decided to keep his mouth shut this time.
I have nothing against him. I know how innocent these little babies can be when they first come out of the academy. But I ain’t just gonna shut up when they tell me how pitiful these ‘weak innocent omegas’ are.
They aren’t pitiful.
They aren’t weak.
And they are most definitely not innocent.
