I don’t remember falling asleep last night… Kaela seemed really relieved when I woke up, so it must’ve been a rougher night than I’m aware of. We talked things out, she does want to keep scrying but I at least got her to promise she wouldn’t push so hard. I just don’t want her to hurt herself, it took us forever to rebuild her hand last time she got burned by the Shadow.

Bill and I went to see the Fixer, I thought we were just there to explain why I couldn’t finish the job, but instead Bill started lecturing him! I’ve never dared speak to the Fixer that way. They got so heated I thought it was gonna come to fisticuffs, but some outsiders showed up (the Fixer works as a physician as his day job), so we had to leave. Bill told me afterwards he was pretty sure the job I got was a setup, meant to put me in a tight spot and force me to burn myself with the Shadow to get out of it. I’ve heard the council has done that as a way to control us in the past, especially back in ‘91, but I never thought the Fixer would be a part of that…
