The candles are on the ground, the fire dimmed out. The neon lights on the stage are flickering in and out. Dust flows through the area where Theo is standing, holding Charlie’s hand, sweating.
‘’What if the group was your only hope? Your purpose?’’ Theo asks, his body aching. Charlie is shocked, looking at Theo in the eye, ‘’What are you doing?’’
‘’Why are you so angry?’’ Theo shouts. Charlie is stunned by the questions, ‘’Shut up.’’ He says quietly. However, his memories come flooding. The memory of seeing his mother on her deathbed, the memory of people sending Charlie to buy things for them. ‘’Shut up.’’ Tears form in his eyes.
He remembers a memory where he was young in 6th grade, sitting on the seat. Behind his friend is shouting at him, ‘’You stole my book! Why did you steal my book, find it!’’
Charlie turns to him, speaking politely, ‘’No, I didn’t steal your book!’’
‘’Stop lying, you were the one who stole my geography book, it had lots of articles, listings, information. And you were jealous!’’
The friend pinches his arm, hardly. Charlie just looks, anger underneath but keeping his polite and soft-spoken demeanor. The friend stops pinching, ‘’You have to find it.’’
Charlie turns around, tears forming in his eyes. He tries to push them away, but more come and start streaming. He’s trying to hold them back while his friend is shouting, ‘’I don’t want to be your friend if you’re going to be stealing books like this. You act all kind and polite, but you are just a rotten thief!’’
Charlie sniffs. ‘’Say something! Talk to me!’’ The friend shouts as he pulls Charlie back and sees tears on his eyes, ‘’Are you crying?’’ The friend asks, shocked.
‘’No, there’s something in my eye!’’ Charlie hides his face and turns around.
In the present, Charlie remembers that memory, tears form in his eyes. They drop, but turn into fire. ‘’Shut up, shut up, Shut up!’’ He shouts angrier than before.
Theo is shocked, ‘’You don’t need to hide it. We all go through hard times in my life and yes, crying and feeling humiliated about yourself sounds useless, but it’s healthy coping, instead of making a façade!’’
Charlie snaps, ‘’façade? This is no façade, you idiot!’’
‘’Yes, it is! You were never like this when you were young!’’ Theo shouts on top of his lungs.
‘’How do you know that? You were never there when I was young.’’ Charlie says aggressively.
Charlie remembers the memory of him on his mother’s deathbed in the hospital. A young Charlie touches the blanket, ‘’Mom, please. Stay with me.’’
His mother looks at him, ‘’I’m sorry, Charlie, I’m sorry it had to end this way.’’
‘’Please. Pull through! You are the only guardian I have. If you go, who will protect me?’’ Charlie asks, tears in his eyes. His mother extends her hand and touches his face, ‘’I wish I could have reacted fast and stopped the killer. But I didn’t. And for who will protect you? Gramps will.’’
Her hate rate starts decreasing, ‘’No, Mom. Don’t leave me!’’ Charlie shouts as the monitor shows a large flatline. Charlie starts crying, ‘’No! Mom!’’ He hugs her tightly, sniffing and coughing, ‘’Please!’’
The doctors enter, ‘’She’s dead.’’ One of them says. Another one pulls out the knife which is covered in blood, ‘’This is the one that the killer used to stab her. Don’t worry, Charlie Wren, we will find the killer.’’
Charlie is still on the bed, crying loudly, ‘’No! It can’t end like this!’’ He coughs.
That memory has always been engraved in Charlie’s brain. And it haunts Charlie every day, he has tried his best not remembering it but today it has come fully.
In the present, Charlie’s tears are streaming, ‘’Please, shut up, shut up, shut up! Why won’t you die!? Stop making me remember this stuff! It’s over!’’
‘’No, it’s not.’’ Theo says, sweating. Charlie looks at him, ‘’You have never lost one of your loved ones, have you? If you did, maybe you would understand!’’
‘’I know that losing someone close to you is hard and painful, and you start coping. But face it, cry about it, reflect on it, grow, despite how humiliated or terrible you feel, you have to keep going while keeping your humanity!’’ Theo shouts, holding Charlie’s hand tightly.
Charlie’s eyes are awed, he looks different. More like a child learning, he smiles slowly but then remembers, and shouts, ‘’Screw you! The reason I got this powerful ability is because I want to burn everyone who messed with me and used me. Also, I want to kill the person who killed my mother. They think I’m a weakling. They deserve to burn, and you too, so do me a favor and go to hell!’’
Charlie burns Theo and throws him on the ground. Theo screams in pain, trying to stop the fire. Charlie is panting heavily, ‘’I’m not losing this fight! You’re just like everyone else I’ve faced, useless, pathetic, and trying so hard to defeat me. But the truth is, you can’t. I’m invincible!’’
He remembers a memory when he started gaining his firepower ability, it helped him a lot in fights and everyone started to respect and grow jealous of him.
Charlie reflects on this and grins, blood on his right eye, ‘’I am the best.’’
‘’No.’’ Theo replies weak. Charlie turns around shocked, ‘’You are still alive?!’’
Theo is on the ground, scars, burns, cuts and blood everywhere. But he stands up, despite his leg busted. ‘’I won’t let you escape your past.’’ He coughs, ‘’You want to burn innocent people, just because they used you?’’ He scoffs, ‘’How petty. It’s your fault for not setting boundaries in the first place. It’s a shock they thought your kindness was genuine.’’
Charlie snaps his head towards him, fire flickering in his eyes, ‘’What did you say?’’ He says it slowly.
Theo stands up, ‘’You are the weakling.’’
Charlie’s eyes both flicker with fire, ‘’I am…weak?’’ Fire flows through his veins, and hands. His hair then flashes into fire, ‘’Who do you think you are talking to?!’’
‘’I stroke a nerve, didn’t I? Is it because of your god complex? No one is special, Charlie.’’ Theo says wiping his face.
‘’See my ultimate form then, see my full power!’’ Charlie shouts as fire strings sprout from his back and surround him, along with fireballs. Charlie is panting heavily, ‘’I hate you; I hate you; I hate you!’’
‘’You are not the only one with an ultimate form’’ Theo says, sweating. But In the inside, he’s thinking, ‘’Crap. I didn’t expect this, he’s so strong and cool. With a form like that he is going to crush me. Think, Theo. What do I do, what do I do?!’’
He then realizes something, ‘’Even if I try something, I’m not going to let the both of us win either.’’
He touches his knee, ‘’James told me to make this third power my own. And if I focus all my energy into one part of the body then….’’
His eye sparkles. All the overflowing energy inside his body gets directed into his knee, it flashes white, ‘’This is the only way I can touch his weak spot.’’
Charlie and Theo both share determined looks. Charlie shouts angrily, ‘’You are going to pay for what you said earlier!’’
Fire crackles around Charlie’s body, ‘’I’m not gonna get replaced!’’ And in an instant, fire flashes, covering the whole stage as it starts to crack and explode. The sound destroying the lights, the candles, sprinklers, and in general everything. Shockwaves shoot out around the place as debris starts to rain, explosions surrounding the whole place.
Theo looks up determined, blue energy crackling around his body, ‘’I will make sure you don’t.’’
VROOM – A large blue explosion shoots out and Theo is already on Charlie’s chest.
‘’I guess now we’re even!’’ Charlie shouts, grinning. Theo is sure he will hit the chest, however Charlie flips and now shoots his largest fireball. Theo is shocked, ‘’Oh, no this isn’t good.’’
‘’You should think of— ‘’
Charlie gets cut off when the energy from Theo’s knee, and also from Charlie’s fireball causes the whole stage to explode. Shooting them up in the sky. Outside, one part of the golden school’s area is broken down, smoke flowing.
In the air, however. Theo and Charlie are now blue and fire trails, moving around in supersonic speed and clashing, dodging, and kicking. In the air, Theo does a punching stance at Charlie, his fist white, he screams in anger, ‘’Learn from what happened Charlie, don’t sulk in it. Learn and grow, that’s how life is!’’. Charlie is also in a punching stance, his fist flickering with fire, screaming in anger, ‘’You never knew the things I went through, if you were in my shoes, then maybe you would have understood!’’
‘’I understand, because I was a people-pleaser as—‘’ Theo gets cut off when he coughs blood, holding his throat, ‘’Oh, no. I used too much of my blue energy, my blood pressure is high, and also it’s destroying some parts of my body. I forgot my limitations; how do I turn it off?!’’ He thinks, panicked.
However, his body shuts down and his eyes falter, his vision is blurry, ‘’I hope you stay, Charlie.’’ He thinks to himself as he closes his eyes, feeling his heartbeat ringing in his ears. Charlie is shocked, but also, his arm aches heavily and he feels it, ‘’Dammit.’’ He mutters. Both of his arms ache and burn, emitting smoke. He starts gasping for air, oxygen running away from him. His temperature is also high and his body shuts down, he closes his eyes, ‘’Why did I lose?’’ He thinks to himself. The clouds start forming and thunder strikes.
Charlie and Theo both drop to the ground, unconscious. The rain dropping on them. ‘’I lost.’’ Charlie says weakly.
Team Aureole runs to them, shocked.
‘’And, it’s a draw?’’ James says, stunned.
