Being immortal never really came in handy for her. Monique could still experience pain, so trying to hang herself felt like a slow, agonizing hell, just pure torture.
But at that moment, more than anything, she was dead set on strangulation being the way she went out.

Most Office days are pretty slow, so not much was happening at her work. Typing on the office computer was beginning to cause Monique's fingers to ache.
"You ok?"
Mitsy chimed in, looking into the raven-head's office cubicle.
"Oh-, I just didn't get a lot of sleep last night, is all..."
The whole hanging herself thing prevented that.
"How about you hang in the break room~ You're totally killin' my mood..."
Hang?
"Oh-um, sorry"
"I'm just joking, Monique. Gosh, you take things way too seriously, girl."
"Ha, ha, sure....."
Monique faked a grin as she headed to the break room. While moving there, she wondered how much people could guess how down she felt—Wait. No. Just the thought of everyone in the office easily knowing things aren't "ok" made her want to disappear. Shaking the thought out of her head, she opened the door to the break room.
As soon as she got there and began refilling her cup with coffee—she saw it...
A cable!
An idea popped into Monique's head. And just as the thought came forth, she realized the coffee was overflowing onto her hands, causing third-degree burns. She pressed her teeth together in pain.
But, just as expected, the burns had already healed. For most people, this would be a blessing in disguise, a prevention of an inconvenience, but that didn't stop Monique from feeling cursed.
Anyway, Monique had an idea, and she had to do it fast before anyone else could enter the break room. She grabbed the cable, wrapped it around her neck, and began to squeeze. The pain was tormenting, and she wanted to let go, but Monique was determined. Her dark skin began to turn blue as her body flopped over. Two men entered the room laughing and sneering.
"GOD DAMN, did you see that game last night?"
"Yeah! I did! MAN did they perform shit."
"What I'm worried about is how they'll come back from this-"
One of the men stopped mid-sentence, and his eyes darted to the body on the ground.
"What's- what's goin' on?? Why are you on the ground?"
The man was slightly whispering as he said that. God, did she feel stupid. The bruising around her neck healed as she pushed her body up from the ground.
"O-OH, well, Er- I have these dizzy spells sometimes, A-A-AND now and again I -uuuuuh pass out?"
Blood was forming in her nostrils.
"Pass out?"
The second man chimed in in a flat tone. Monique nervously repeated.
"P-Pass out!"
The two men looked at each other and shrugged. Monique slowly and awkwardly walked past them. Just as she moved towards the door to escape the awkward situation, they began conversing again.
"Man, I've been having the worst ache on the side of my neck~."
One of the men says as he pours coffee into his cup."
"'been trying to crack it but nothin's doing the trick!"
He started to make a fast-turning motion with his head, which began to worry the second man.
"Hey! Don't crack your head in that way! Are ya trying to kill yourself?"
Kill himself? Such a method was so easy that even someone like Monique could do it. She turned her neck as quickly as she possibly could and then.
CRACK.
She must have broken something important because her body flopped over instantly, causing her to lean on the break room door. Both men were now horrified. Dying in front of two strangers—how embarrassing.
"GOD, THAT SOUND! CALL AN AMBULANCE!"
Monique knew better than anyone that hospitals and she didn't mix, but her neck was twisted so strangely that if she were to have gotten up there, then she probably would have given those two men nightmares they'd never recover from.
So, against her will, the ambulance arrived at her work and picked her up.

Monique must have lost consciousness during the hospital drive, because she found herself in a hospital bed. She could sense two presences standing over her, so she didn't dare open her eyes.
"The patient seems to be in critical condition."
Such a stern voice, could that be the doctor?
"D-Docter, I checked her pulse... She doesn't have one...!"
And the worried voice must have been the nurse.
Along with not being able to die, Monique's body also gave her the ability to play dead terrifyingly well. Which would be a pretty cool ability for most people, but...... Monique wasn't most people.
"WELP! I've done my part!"
The doctor said as he stretched his arms.
"C'mon, let's move her to the morgue..."
Just as the doctor uttered the words, Monique catapulted herself up from the hospital bed.
W-WAIT, I'M NOT DEAD!"
"But ma'am, your pulse-"
"YOU CAN CHECK IT AGAIN"
She screamed frantically, sticking her arm out while pulling her sleeve down. The doctor eyed the nurse as she moved to touch Monique's wrist.
"A-a pulse!"
The nurse looked relieved, while the doctor let out a "tsk" as he headed out the door.
Tsk? Did he want to put someone in the morgue that badly??
The nurse rolled her eyes and then turned towards Monique.
"Ms. Strauss, again, are you sure you're alright?"
"Um, yes, why wouldn't I be...?"
"It's just uh, that's a pretty bad nosebleed."
The nurse motioned at her nose. Monique put a hand to her own face, and the woman was right; blood. The morgue must have given her a serious scare.
The Raven head stammered awkwardly.
"H-High blood pressure...?"
