“I’ll kill you myself.” “Ow, ow, okay.” The man immediately raised both hands in surrender. Then he smiled lightly. “From now on, you're my boyfriend, okay? No taking it back.” The moment those words left his mouth, Kang Jun felt chills run through his entire body. Did I make the wrong decision? No. No... I don't have anything left to lose anyway. Even if this turns out to be a bad decision... it's okay. Quietly, Jun grabbed the edge of his T-shirt and clenched it tightly. His ears felt slightly warm from embarrassment. “Hm... yes.” “From now on, I'm your... boyfriend.” The man's smile widened. “Good.” “Now let's eat.” “But your ramen got cold. Let's heat it up first.” Jun shook his head. “It's okay.” “I'm used to eating cold food.” The man immediately frowned. “No.” “It's not okay.” “From now on, you're my boyfriend.” “Leave all that shitty stuff behind.” “From now on, live the way you want, okay?” Jun lowered his eyes. “Haa... thanks.” “I'll try.” The man shook his head. “No trying.” “Let's live.” For a moment, Jun couldn't say anything. Then he quietly nodded. “Hm... okay.” “Good.” “Now give me your bowl.” “I'll heat it up. You stay here.” Jun handed him the ramen. As the man walked back into the convenience store, Jun sat alone beneath the glowing neon lights. The night breeze felt colder than before. Yet somehow... his heart felt warmer. Strangely warm. An unknown man had talked to him. Listened to him. Asked him to be his boyfriend. And for the first time in years... someone had told him to live. A small smile slowly appeared on Jun's face. I think... this might be the best day of my life. I don't know what will happen tomorrow. But somehow... I want to live long enough to see it. Maybe... God really did listen to my wishes. Maybe He sent someone to make me happy. A few minutes later, the man returned carrying the reheated ramen. He sat beside Jun. The close distance made Jun feel a little awkward. A little embarrassed. But surprisingly... he didn't hate it. The two of them quietly ate ramen together under the convenience store lights. For the first time in years, Jun wasn't eating alone. After they finished, the man walked Jun back to his place. When they reached the entrance, he stopped. “Well... goodnight.” “Goodnight.” The man turned around and began walking away. Jun stood there watching him. After walking a short distance, the man suddenly turned back. Then he waved. “Bye.” Jun froze. Nobody had ever waved goodbye to him before. After a few seconds, he slowly raised his own hand. A little awkwardly. A little shyly. And with a small smile— he waved back. The man grinned before finally disappearing into the darkness. Jun quietly entered his room. The moment he lay down on his bed, his mind replayed everything that had happened outside the convenience store. “Ahhh...” “What was that?” “Did all of that really happen?” “Am I dreaming?” To make sure, he pinched his own cheek. “Ow.” It hurt. Everything was real. Then suddenly— his eyes widened. “Ah, fuck.” “I forgot to ask for his name.” “And his number.” At that exact moment— tap. A soft sound came from the window. Jun froze. Tap. Tap. Tap. Confusion filled his face. Nobody had ever come to his window before. Nobody had ever checked on him. Nobody had ever cared enough to visit. Yet tonight... someone was knocking. Slowly, Jun walked toward the window. Then he opened it. And immediately froze. Standing outside— was his boyfriend.
