The Devil and The Designer

The Rhythms of Romance

The Rhythms of Romance

Jul 01, 2026

The morning sun over Mumbai felt warmer, carrying the sweet weight of a beautiful reality. Tanishka stood in front of the full-length mirror in her dressing room, her fingers tracing the smooth white gold band of the ring on her finger. For a girl whose "beauty and brains" usually analysed every economic shift and fabric durability profile, she found herself completely unable to find a single flaw in the way her life had changed. They were officially in a relationship now—no longer just corporate partners, but boyfriend and girlfriend.

She had dressed in a simple, elegant blush-pink chikankari kurta with silver thread work, leaving her long hair open over her shoulders. When she walked down to the breakfast table, the atmosphere in the Nanda estate was humming with a completely different energy.

Maa was standing by the heavy marble kitchen counter, orchestrating the morning staff with a wide, radiant smile. The dining table wasn't set with their usual hurried weekday breakfast. Instead, a luxurious North Indian morning spread had been laid out—steaming hot, flaky Alu Parathas glistening with fresh white butter, a bowl of thick, spiced Chana Masala, and small clay pots of fresh, sweet Mishti Doi alongside large glasses of frothy saffron lassi.

"There she is," Maa said, her voice overflowing with a mother’s joy as she rushed over the moment she saw Tanishka. She wrapped Tanishka in a warm, scent-filled hug. "I couldn't sleep a wink last night from the excitement, Tanu. The Meharas have already called twice this morning."

"Maa, please, the staff is right there," Tanishka whispered, her cheeks heating up into a deep crimson color, though she couldn't hide her radiant smile.

"Let them see!" Maa countered proudly, serving a hot paratha onto Tanishka's plate. "The King of Mumbai has officially chosen his partner, and she happens to be my brilliant daughter. Eat something before the madness begins."

The heavy front doors opened, and Advik Roy strolled into the dining pavilion. Since it was a Saturday and his shift at the regional precinct didn't start until late afternoon, the sharp ACP was completely off-duty, dressed casually in a well-fitted black crewneck t-shirt and charcoal grey trousers. He looked entirely relaxed, his usual rigid stance replaced by a lazy, comfortable stride as he pulled out a chair next to his cousin sister.

"Smells incredible in here, Chachi," Advik said, reaching into the bread basket without hesitation to grab an alu paratha. He glanced at Tanishka’s hand, a soft, teasing smirk breaking across his sharp features. "Nice ring, Tanu. I see Reyansh doesn't believe in corporate budget cuts when it comes to his personal life."

"Advik bhai, don't start," Tanishka warned, though she gently bumped her shoulder against his, her analytical mind entirely shifting into a state of familial comfort. "How are things at the precinct?"

"Quiet," Advik replied, taking a bite of his breakfast. "The Oberoi handlers have completely packed their bags and cleared out of the Lower Parel logistics center. The legal grid is 100% clean. Which means..." He paused, his expression turning into a warm, deeply protective brotherly smile. "...you can officially focus on being happy, Tanu. The fortress is standing."

The Private Gathering

By late afternoon, the quiet breakfast had transformed into a relaxed, intimate family gathering at the Mehara Mansion. Since this wasn't a formal Roka or marriage commitment yet—as they were happily enjoying their time simply as lovers—the two families had gathered strictly behind closed doors to celebrate the official launch of the Nanda-Mehara luxury label and the young couple's happiness.

The inner courtyard was magnificent, decorated simply with fresh strings of white jasmines that scented the air with an intoxicating fragrance. Golden brass lamps were lit along the marble corridors, casting a warm, regal glow over the small group.

Tanishka walked down the stone pathway, her long hair catching in the sea breeze. Beside her stood Reyansh, looking like an absolute modern "Greek God" in a structured, midnight-black bandh gala suit with silver buttons. The arrogant, untouchable mask he wore for the corporate boards was entirely gone, replaced by a quiet, consuming intensity as he kept his hand securely resting on the small of Tanishka’s back, guiding her through the family space.

On the upper gallery overlooking the courtyard, Aryan (AV) stood with his arm wrapped tightly around Zyra’s waist. The "monster" CEO looked unusually content, a glass of premium mocktail in his hand as his eyes scanned the private family perimeter.

Zyra, his "shaitaan," leaned her head against his broad shoulder, her eyes bright as she watched Tanishka laugh at something Reyansh whispered into her ear. "Look at them, AV. I’ve never seen Reyansh look so... alive. He’s completely dropped his guard."

"He had to," AV replied, his voice dropping into that rough, low rumble meant exclusively for her. His grip on her waist tightened by a fraction. "When you find a girl who matches your intellect and commands your respect, the walls don't stand a chance, Zyra."

The Evening Celebration Feast

As the sun set into the Arabian Sea, painting the Mumbai sky in deep shades of gold and rose, the long mahogany dining table in the mansion's grand hall was laid out with a completely renewed, luxurious celebratory feast. Maa and the Mehara chefs had ensured that the menu was entirely distinct from the proposal night, featuring a grand spread of royal North Indian favorites.

The room filled with the rich aroma of aromatic Shahi Paneer swimming in a creamy tomato-cashew gravy, alongside a large copper handi of slow-cooked Dal Bukhara. Baskets of hot, garlic-infused Garlic Naan and flaky Lachha Parathas were served straight from the tandoor to the plates. In the center sat a royal platter of saffron-infused Vegetable Pulao studded with dry fruits, flanked by crispy Kurkuri Bhindi and a refreshing mint-coriander raita. For the grand sweet finish, massive silver bowls of warm, rich Moong Dal Halwa topped with silver vark and slivered almonds were served to the families.

Advik  sat near the end of the table, having completely changed out of his daytime casuals into a crisp, navy blue linen shirt, his demeanor easy and joyful as he talked with the younger cousins. He watched as Reyansh carefully pulled out Tanishka's chair, ensuring she was completely comfortable before he even took his own seat.

"The alliance is flourishing, Reyansh," Advik said, raising his glass of water toward the couple across the table, his dry smile completely warm. "You've survived the family review."

Reyansh looked across the table at the ACP, his arm resting on the back of Tanishka's chair in an inherently protective stance. "The review was easy, Advik. It's keeping up with her analytical mind that keeps me on my toes."

Tanishka looked up at her boyfriend, her eyes shining with absolute, deep love as she reached under the table to slide her fingers into his hand. They had months of beautiful courtship ahead of them before any talk of marriage would begin, and for now, standing firmly in the light together was everything they wanted.
