Day Fifteen, Second Moon, Hunting Year Five Hundred and Four
It's not getting any easier to write.
The numbness has expanded from my fingertips across my palms, so my hands are clumsy. I've been tripping because the same numbness is happening in my feet. Mama keeps giving me more herbs, but I don't think they're working.
One good thing happened today, though.
Michael left bed for the first time in weeks. He isn't back to school, yet, but he sat at the table and did lots of assignments and ate all his dinner.
Kyla's mother taught her to ward off curses with the right combination of herbs, but the newest plague to befall her village is resistant to all the knowledge her people hold. A witch-hunt begins - One that Kyla finds herself at the center of. All because she stepped into a beehive.
This is a coming-of-age story that centers disability and welcomes queerness. It's not spicy, but it is earnest.
