Karma

The school stood before us, and the building felt more imposing than usual, probably because I was walking in with Dante rather than my normal friend group.

God, Anthony, and Quin are going to give me so much shit for not only attempting to look good but also for walking in with Dante. My hair was still messy, but for once it was out of my eyes, and the fake glasses were forgotten in my room I traded my normal sweatpants and hoodie with a tight black shirt and a simple pair of jeans. I still don't know how Dante convinced me to show up with him in the first place, but he did have a point. Why bother lying low with only 2 months left in this hellhole?

I might as well go out with a bang.

“Karma? Are you coming?” Dante kept moving forward until he noticed I was frozen in my spot, just staring at the building.

“Ha, what don't tell me you're scared to walk in with me!” his words were pointed but not necessarily mean.

A growl escaped my throat. “Of course not, im just preparing for Anthony to give me hell and for your little underlings to attempt to bully me.”

“Oh come on, man there not my underlings, this isn't some tella novella everything will be fine especially if I tell them to fuck off

scoffing I just looked at him with all the skepticism I could manage. He just shrugged and looked towards the school again, "also lets not tell anyone yet what happened last night. especially Anthony I don't need him worrying about me.

"oh..uh yeah totally I get that but do you really not remember how you got hurt last night you were pretty banged up that its hard to imagine what could of caused it other then falling down a cliff or something?"

he chuckled softly as if the idea of me falling off a cliff was an impossibility, but he did have a point I at least know that whatever happened I was shifted and my wolf can take a hell of a beating before ending up with any permanent or long lasting damage. Hell the small wounds have already closed up but that gash on my lower back was a stubborn mother fucker and its healing at the same right as a human would heal…

so basically not at all, fuck I didn't think of that my pack is going to smell my injury as soon as I walk into the building, shit shit shit what do I do….

Gods fuck it'll be fine as long as ant doesn't go blabbing his mouth to our parents.

"karma you there?" Dante's voice called out from in front of me and I finally realized that he had kept walking "huh? oh yeah im coming," catching up to him I took one final deep breath before leaning forward and opening the door for him.

we were hear shockingly early compared to when I usually come to school, instead of mostly empty halls with a few other students milling around.

the halls were packed.

"oh gods why do I feel like I'm in every teenage highschool drama right now, there are way to many people," I gag slightly ,fuck it stinks and its sending my instincts into hyper drive.

"hey what's wrong you just got really pale,"

"its nothing birdie there's just to many people here right now and If I don't get somewhere without any people I'm going to vomit. I knew I shouldn't have done this, this is why I always come late, fuck I'm going to be sick."

my breathing is getting more shallow and we don't get out of here now I'm going to tear these people apart.

"oh fuck karma I'm so sorry I didn't even think of that I'm so used to how packed it is I didn't even consider the fact you don't like to be around other people."

Ha other people can I even be considered people? maybe half people, wait what am I talking about…

A strong hand wrapped around mine as I was pulled down a side hallway through groups of people, some shifters from my pack and some human but only the shifters really noticed me after all its hard to ignore the scent of blood mixed with the scent of your future alpha. concerned looks flashed across there faces as Dante pulled me through the crowds, the other shifters were lucky there sense of smell and there hearing wasn't nearly as good as mine or else this entire school would have been torn apart years ago.

Finally my little crow had pulled me into a much calmer space with less people and less noise.

"where are we?" my voice came out choked and raspy my breathing was calming down but it was still erratic.

"the Library, it was the only place I could think of that no one would be."

Karma had always tried to stay under the radar at school; he kept good grades, he didn't hang out with anyone, and he never stood out. until one day, he was targeted for no apparent reason by a group of people he had never met.

Dante, on the other hand, was the complete opposite. He stood out at school for better or for worse; he had below-average grades, a large group of friends, and it seemed that everything he could ever wish for was at his fingertips.

One chance meeting (and one wimpy councilor) brought these two men together, flinging them into a life they never expected.
