A car with no ceiling broke down in the middle of the road that is between the trees. Out of the car reveals two teenagers that are a boy and girl–a couple–having trouble looking for shelter. Unfortunately, the teenage girl’s phone died while her boyfriend’s phone was left at home.
“Damn it!” The teenage girl said through her teeth, shoving the phone into the pocket of her skirt.
Running through the woods, they stumbled upon a farm house where a boy–wearing a choir uniform–is chilling on a rocking chair on the porch. Upon his eyes are two people, calling out to him for help from a distance.
“HEY! We need shelter!” The teenage boy cried out before running out of energy to run, but still managed to catch up to the porch, “Hey, we… need… shelter… My car broke down..” He said as he caught his breath.
“Sure thing, come on in.” Calmly, Jack said as he opened the front door for the couple to come in, “Johnny, come down here, we have guests!” He shouted out.
Down the stairs is a little, black boy grinning. “Hi papa!” He beamed as he passionately gives Jack a hug.
The couple glanced at each other for a split second, thinking “isn’t this boy in a choir uniform too young to be a father?” Before the teenage boy sat down with his girlfriend, he politely asked: “Can we have some water please?”
Jack smiled warmly, “No problem. Would you like something to eat as well?”
“Yes please.” He replied.
In the kitchen, Jack quietly takes his time to cook chick breasts and green beans with the perfect seasoning. After the seasoning, there’ll be something else. Meanwhile, Johnny sat down at the dinner table with their two guests.
“How come you’re here?” Johnny asks innocently, “Shouldn’t you be at home?”
“We were just trying to go back to our hometown until my stupid boyfriend forgot to put in more gas.” The teenage girl playfully nudged her elbow at her boyfriend’s stomach, smirking.
“Oh come on, I’m not that stupid.” He says after rolling his eyes at his girlfriend.
“Hehe!” Johnny giggled at the girl’s joke.
“Besides…” The teenage girl tried to not sound rude as she spoke, “isn’t your ‘father’ too young to be looking after you? Where are your real parents?”
Johnny pouts with his eyebrows slightly furrowed, “My mama left me cuz she no want me any more!”
Jack quickly chimed in after walking over to Johnny, picking him up into his arms, and put him down on his feet onto the wooden floor, “Alright, that’s enough. Go play with your toys and wait until I call your name.”
Johnny dashed to the upper floor of the farm house, and slammed the door so that he could play with his toys.
And finally, dinner is served on the table.
“Here you go.” Jack said before taking a seat in front of the couple, smiling warmly once more.
The teenagers began to eat without questioning anything; however, something felt wrong, but continued to eat what they had been served. Their eyes felt heavy as boulders. Their shoulders slump. Then the teenage boy’s head fell onto his own plate, falling deeper into unconsciousness with his girlfriend.
….
..
.
Opening her eyes, the teenage girl finds herself in a dog cage inside of a basement. Her eyes widened to a realization that she’s gonna be trapped for who knows how long, trying to break free from the cage, but lacked the strength to do so. Of course, her wrists and ankles are tied together. She tried to scream, but her lips were stitched shut. Looking down, she appears to be wearing her casual clothing that is a pink crop top and a pair of white shorts. There’s also a realization that her boyfriend is nowhere to be seen, her gaze slowly directing to the table.
On the table, there is chopped meat that smells worse than an armpit. Her ears suddenly picked up the sound of footsteps coming down stairs. The person turned out to be the same boy in the choir uniform, holding a bloodied cleaver in his hand. Step after step, he approached the dog cage.
“Good thing no one cares enough to look for you.” Jack said, smiling like the weather is pleasant.
And just like that, no one in their town bothered to search for answers on what happened to the couple.
Upstairs, Johnny stopped playing with his toys when his name got called, ran down the stairs without tripping, and sat down at the dinner table. He grinned, ready to eat with a butter knife in the left hand, and the fork in the right hand.
“I can’t wait, I can’t wait!” Johnny shouted, kicking his legs back and forth as Jack placed a plate of chopped, cooked meat in front of him. Then for himself.
“Now, now,” Jack said as he sat down next to the younger boy, “We must pray before we eat.”
“Okay papa!”
They clasped their hands and closed their eyes as they softly prayed: “Dear Devil in Yellow, we thank you for the food after we offered you the human heart. We thank you for looking after us after we offered you the blood of the helpless. Therefore, we thank you for everything before we eat.”
Then, Jack and Johnny eat the chopped, cooked meat together like a happy family.
Somewhere in the woods, there is a farm house that is said to have a "killer in the choir uniform." Darwin, a curious boy, yearns for the answers of whoever is behind the disappearances in his hometown. Only to discover that there is something far deeper than he thinks...
